“Great adults only resort-friendly staff, great food, great value all round”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

Highly recommend Breakas-great position; easy access to town but far enough out of town to be quiet, peaceful and private. easy access to other attractions- 1 of 800 buses on the island always passing the gate and willing to take you anywhere you want to go. clean, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff. They even put on a decent earthquake for us :). We enjoyed the 'adults only' aspect of the resort. We stayed in an ocean view room for the first week and a garden room for the last 4 nights. Which is best? Depends on what you like. We particularly like being able to see the ocean at any time but the garden room was lovely, too. We even had some local visitors-local cat sleeping on top of the wardrobe and a good size crab greeted us in the bathroom-all part of the magic of the place. I believe the management are trying to improve the restaurant and meals so that eating at Breakas is as good or better than anywhere else on the island. Well done to all because you are definitely there. I especially appreciated the willingness of the staff to accommodate my special dietary requirements as much as they could. we would definitely stay at Breakas again should we be lucky enough to return to beautiful Vanuatu.

Room Tip: choose a room away from the main area of the resort and the bar if you don't like people walking...

Dear swal0438,

wow thanks for the amazing review. It sounds like you had a great time so big tick in our "goal achieved" box to ensure you had a great " feet in the sand" bit of R&R.

Our Tropical Fares are very well received, especially the open plan bathrooms. You do get the tropical bit of wildlife sharing the bathroom on the odd occasion and glad you didnt mind :-)

You are correct in that for the last 12 months with our new chefs and management team that there is a special focus on providing the very best restaurant experience.

We have added too or renovated much of the resort as discretely as we could over the previous 12 months and look out for more improvements for ours guests in the coming 12 months. We even have another 15 hammocks being installed next week in the garden fare areas, what better way to enjoy that cocktail or three than swaying amongst the palm trees.

Thanks again for the great feedback which have passed onto the team.

Please come back and see us again soon

My partner and I stayed at Breakas Beach Resort for 10 relaxing days in a Beachfront Bure. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very welcoming and happy to assist us. We would like to especially thank Florah, Rebecca, Melibu and Mantai, for making our holiday relaxing. Also a big thank you to Frida for organizing our tours for us. There is lots to do at Breakas such as snorkeling, having a massage, going for a village walk, intro to scuba diving in the pool, relaxing on a hammock or a beach chair and most importantly eating and drinking. Drinks were absolutely fantastic they were reasonably priced and they had everything you could want from local beers to mock-tails, cocktails and spirits. It was very easy to get a bus from Breakas into town which takes about 10 mins and is a really fun experience. The Beachfront Bure was fantastic, you get your own hammock and beach front chairs out the front as well as a small undercover area where you can have a drink and gaze at the beautiful ocean. The outdoor shower was beautiful and very romantic. The room was very nicely decorated and had everything you could need a small bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, day bed, a comfortable bed, mosquito net, fan, desk and safe. You could have your room made up every day if you wanted. Beach towels were available from the front desk for swimming or laying on the beach. Everything was perfect and was the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday. Thank you Breakas.

Room Tip: Beachfront bures are a good option if you want to walk outside in the morning and see the ocean stra...

Dear HayleyAndScott

what a wonderful appreciated review.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and Florah, Rebecca, Melibu and Mantai say hi back along with Isaac our General Manager.

Glad you liked the drinks list, we are just adding another 20 items to our wine list and adding a new premium spirt section for those that want to splash out a little more.

We pride ourselves on providing an authentic tropical getaway at our 3 star resort but we like to say in a 5 star environment with 6 star service :-)

We hope to see you back again soon.

Having stayed at a number of small adult only resorts on different islands across the Pacific, I felt Breakas offered fantastic value for money and I certainly hope to return again.
Breakas is easy to get to, offers clean comfortable accommodation, fabulous food, a lovely outlook and beautiful staff.
Staying in a garden bure was delightful and extremely affordable. Get your expectations in line and you will have a wonderful holiday. The resort / rooms are not 5 star, but very clean and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
The food from the restaurant was excellent and above my expectations.
The free village tour is a great idea and well worth taking up.
My travelling companion suffered an unfortunate incident off the resort. The G.M and staff went out of their way to ensure my companion was okay and showed great concern and care which was very much appreciated – so a special thank you for the attentiveness.
The only disappointment – our stay wasn't long enough!
Thanks to the whole team at Breakas for providing the opportunity for a lovely relaxing holiday.

Tip: If you are planning to enjoy a massage at the resort, book as soon as you get there as they fill up fast and can be booked out for days! Having said that, it is very easy to get a massage at other spas off the resort if you find you can’t book one onsite.

Dear doublebarrel,

thanks so much for the wonderful review.

It sounds like we achieved our goal of ensuring you had a the perfect relaxing vacation.

We are especially glad to hear the restaurant exceeded your expectations, especially in our busiest month of the year when things can run a little slower.

The massages are very popular so it is a good tip to book in advance.

Thanks again and hope to see you back in paradise soon.

Tropical regards

A long awaited family holiday at Breakas was just what the doctor ordered - relaxing, friendly staff and meals that accommodated to our teenagers. Rooms were cleaned daily, towels replaced and bed made. The introduction course to scuba diving was thoroughly enjoyed by our boys along with kayaking and snorkelling. The GM Isaac was so helpful and genuinely interested in how your day had gone - our boys referred to him as an 'Uncle' like he was part of our family. Special mention also goes to Frita and Isabella for their gorgeous smiles and willingness to suggest tours being first timers in Vanuatu.

Hi Jacqui135614

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us at Breakas, sounds like it was a well deserved vacation. "Uncle Isaac" our GM, says hello back, we are picking that nickname will stick now.

Very glad to hear you enjoyed the snorkelling, diving and kayaking at the resort, it is all very good along the reef at the front and a little trek out at low tide but well worth it.

Thank you for mentioning Fritta, she is our littl superstar go to girl at Breakas and there isnt much she does not know about what to see and do.

Thanks again and Luk Em Yu Bakegan ( see you back here ) real soon.

Dear Tony J,

thank you for taking the time to write a review.

We find the child free part of our resort is certainly popular, as much as we love the little ones, a few days out from them in the tropics seems to be very popular.

We hope you left feeling refreshed and relaxed after our staying at our "little feet in the sand" lace on the beach.

Tropical regards

great relaxing resort. good range of entertainment, changed every night. lovely helpful staff. Isaac (GM) was very friendly & accommodating. Rooms clean & spacious. Grounds really tidy & lush. The meals were good. We'd highly recommend it. You can do as little or as much as you want. If you don't want to leave the resort you don't need to. Can chill out on the beach with coffee or cocktail. All the staff, from the gardeners to the barmen, made it a great stay.

Room Tip: our room was 21. close to restaurant & TV hut. Quiet. All rooms are fine.

Isaac says hello and thank you for your positive comments,

i am glad that you enjoyed the entertainment as every night it is going to be different with live singers too cultural groups and yes you don't need to leave the resort pending on how much or how little you wish to do.

thank you for your comments about the grounds as we do take pride on how it looks and the speed it has come back after the cyclone.

Lovely laid back resort. Large rooms everything you want but terrible pillows. The food is very good and the dining area overlooking the pool and beach is romantic and special.
Book all your tours here and use as a base to explore port Vila. The resort is on a beach but it is rocky and swimming would be at high tide only. They have a good bar with cocktails and wine and a TV hut. You can borrow beach towels, reef shoes and snorkels etc. you can buy great wifi packages from Telstatbroadband to keep you connected about $40 Aus for a gig. This enables you to have faster wifi than the hotel option. No free wifi you have to buy it.
Close to port Vila and the airport. The staff are excellent and helpful.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the dining area.

Dear heleconiaGeelong

Thanks so much for the amazing review and all your recommendations.

I have mentioned your comments about the pillows to the head housekeeper. We haven't had it mentioned before so we will chase yours day and "retire them"

Also you mentioned Telsat Broadband, that in fact is the hotel option. With the new internet cable in Vanuatu, speeds are greatly increased and costs have decreased a lot. Packages are from around $2.20 aud for the light users through to the higher use packages at $40, all for 30 days. Love is so much easier for us now!

Come back and see us agin soon.
