“Best Spot in Vanuatu!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2012

Just came back from 9 glorious days saying at the Surfside Villas - what an experience! We've been to Vanuatu before but staying here has spoilt us for anywhere else now - we're organising our next stay with Sam, Bessie and the crew for 2013! Immaculate villas, spacious and gorgeous pool our the back to enjoy. Sitting on the veranda at night only metres from the shoreline is like no other experience we've had. We went with another couple who shared our villa and LOVED IT as well. Best part was being able to chat with the locals, catchup the bus to town (great fun!) and just rest and relax in this paradise. We'll be back next year and look forward to staying at this exceptional place. Thanks again Sam and crew - amazing! Kerry, Darryl, Mary and Gaz!

Room Tip: 3 bedroom villa on the beach is perfect for friends and family! Beautiful breeze and moonlight nigh...

My boyfriend and I spent a week in Surfside on Breakas in June.

From the time we arrived until the depressing departure date, we could honestly not fault it at all, Everything was absolutely beautiful and convenient. From having our own self contained kitchen, private pool, bbq, and own balcony. Bar/Restaurant in a perfect location just a stroll from the villa. Breakas and Surfside are a separate resort, however there is a agreement between the two that guests from Surfisde are able to use facilities at Breakas as well as set up tabs on villas etc..

We rented a quad bike to get around which can accommodate two people, however the bus system in Vanuatu was excellent, as long as you negotiate prices with the driver before hand. very efficient !!

The location is not far from the main town center of Port Villa. Approx. 10 mins by bus or own transport.

We had a lovely friend in our pool, a good sized crab, which made himself at home. Say hello to him from Aaron and Pauline. Do not be alarmed if you hear tiny tappy slurrpy sounds.. the geckos get around pretty fast, but are harmless and usually only on walls above roof.

Our highlight was exploring Cascades Waterfalls located in Mele, and swimming to the top. Great experience, don't let opportunity slide !

We learn't by talking to locals about struggles they face and how hard these people work to live. My partner gave a workman a bottle of water and a chocolate bar, in which he expressed his gratitude immensely, it meant the world to them. So if given the chance they do appreciate small gestures.

Hope you have an amazing time like we did.

Room Tip: We had Saltwater Villa, Perfect Location

Our arrival was a bit confusing, as when we booked our accommodation the villas were still part of the Breakas Resort - it was very disappointing that we were not informed of the changes especially when we found out about the change at midnight when we arrived at the other place! Anyway, we were taken care of by Breakas overnight and the next day we found that we were now to stay at Surfside. We had a private villa with a pool and it was lovely. The villa was lovely and clean and it was great to have a BBQ and kitchen facilities. It was pure bliss laying in bed at night and listening to the waves roll onto the beach. The staff were lovely - very happy and very friendly. Just ensure you check on the accommodation you have booked before you get there, as two rooms join the hallway of the main villa that leads to the pool - these can be rented by other people, I don't think I would like to share this space with people I don't know when paying money for privacy. We didn't have this problem at all,as it was quiet when we were there!

Thank you for your refiew of Surfside, we appreciate you taking the time to share your holiday experience with us. Just for the information of people reading this review, the Villa referred to is one of our Deluxe Ocean Front Pool Studios. Whilst these studio villas do have rooms on either side on the ground floor, the guests staying in the Studio Pool Villa have exclusive use to the kitchen and pool at all times and this is never shared with the other rooms which are let as a Hotel Room only. I hope this will clarify this to anyone thinking of staying with us.

My partner and I stayed at the Surfside Villas in Pango for our Honey moon, they are beautiful villas with fabulous views of the beach, that have a private court yard with a pool if you want privacy from the beach, the manager Samantha is a local that has incredible knowledge of the various parts of the island and where is good to eat, the cleaning staff and security make you feel incredibly welcome and it was a sad day when we had to leave. I cannot reccomend this place enough you get to live in a beautiful villa that gives you the option to cook at home if you dont fancy eating out. it is a fantastic combination of beaufitul island decadence with home conviences. a memory never to be forgotten

Room Tip: sorry not fitness centre that happens in the beautiful lagoon that is about 10 metres from your fron...

We recently spent our honeymoon in Vanuatu and stayed at Surfside. From the very minute we arrived we felt relaxed and very much in holiday mode... We had a beautiful, well maintained villa overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You can choose to prepare your own meals in your very own kitchen, wander a couple of hundred metres up the beach and grab a meal or a cocktail or venture down to town to do whatever you wish. The staff and locals were great, very eager to help and answer any questions we had. We had such a diverse holiday, from spending time in our very own villa pool, to venturing out on our own exploring the beautiful beaches, swimming holes, sites and sounds of Vanuatu - all extremely accessible - one of the highlights we had was spending time with the local tribes, getting a hands on view of their way of life and their customs etc - A must is a short flight over to another of Vanuatu's islands Tanna to visit the live Volcano - an experience to remember... We enjoyed ourselves immensly and would definately recommend this resort....

I have always thought it takes a week to wind down when going on a holiday........wrong. Go to Vanuatu and you get into the groove straight away! I just love this part of the world. We stayed at Surfside and I must admit that for the first few days I did nothing....but look at the South Pacific ocean, the surfers, the kite surfers and the local kids laughing and giggling non stop on the waters edge! It was the tonic I needed! ( a real city was light years away by now!!)
Surfside is great, thatched roofs, sand at the front door, our own plunge pool at the back door, self contained kitchen and a Barby!! (I have been to heaps of resorts and they rarely think to make it self contained!!) My wife and I picked up local produce from the market and the local french super market (just up the road) and cooked some wicked meals.....I love restaurants but it's great to fend for yourself in such tough conditions!!!....crack a bottle of vino and watch the sun go down over the Sth Pacific.....yes can you guess...I'm hooked! We'll be back...Thanks Sam and all your crew you made it for us

We (my wife and our 4 teenagers) recently spent a bit over a week at Surfside in January. Being extensive travelers we have come to expect high standards and we were a bit apprehensive about pacific island standards. Our booking arrangement don directly was very casual.
But on the night we arrived I was very relieved to find extremely professional staff and a well appointed villa.
Being keen surfers its amazing to open the front door each morning and to find a clean (yet small) uncrowned break right there in front of you. The guys surfed and the girls snorkeled every day.
To us the perfect holiday is to have a house plus the use of resort facilities. This is exactly what you get at Surfside. You have your own kitchen etc but can also wander 200m up the beach, have a few cocktails and a nice dinner and charge it back to your room.
There are also a few secrets at this resort that the very lucky will find. It was an amazing experience and I’m sure the lucky few who found what we did will agree that it should remain a secret.

Great job Sam, see you again soon!
