“Relaxing? You bet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2012

My Husband and our Son (9) and I stayed here for 14 nights from Christmas Eve 2011 - I cannot fault anything about the hotel, the staff or the resort itself.
The food and beverage Manager Mark went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed daily and nothing was too much trouble. The dining and kitchen staff were kindness themselves, going to great lengths to ensure food was cooked to our liking and the food ... Amazing! One word of advice - don't bother with lunch, we made sandwiches and along with the pastries and muffins we found we had plenty until dinner : )
The buffet is just huge - really is something for everyone and so much food .. Yum!
The rooms are clean and bright and although small (we had 3 in a room and it was ok but 4 would be a bit tight) are more than adequate, TV was welcome - the kids will love watching foxtel while you chill on the balcony.
Kids club was great - always open and you can even drop the kids and pop into port Vila!
The main pool was huge and there were always places to sit in the shade or sun - never overcrowded, the smaller pool was closer to reception but seemed to be rarely used as there were mostly families there and this pool is deep and has no kiddie pool near (ideal for couples) the catamarans are great fun and as there are 3 there was always one available and there are so many kayaks you cannot get bored, kayaking in the lagoon the local kids will come swimming up and chat as you kayak - the locals are lovely kindly people and the kids love a handful of Lollies to share with their friends ; )
I should mention the activities team - lovely boys who go out of their way everyday to play football, volleyball or even to take a few kids out kayaking on a quick tour of the lagoon ( an hour later ... Lol)
Two things I think could be better:
1. Smoking areas need to be made, some parents seemed to think it was ok to smoke around the pool where kids were there. Designated smoking areas would stop this.
2. Rubbish bins in the pool area - although we were assured these were on order!
This place was so relaxing but bear in mind the food is so plentiful and good your jeans may not fit on the way back ; ) A+ for this hotel!

7 days at the Holiday Inn over NYE and we didn't want to come home. One word sums up the resort... PERFECT.
From our arrival at midnight, the check-in was smooth and the staff's smile wide despite the late hour.
Our King Lagoon View Room was spotless and well presented. The room had everything one could want, lots of storage space, beautifully tiled bathroom, a "real" King Size bed, not two singles pinned together. the Duck Down Pillows and bed were very comfy. Air con coped well with the extreme heat and humidity outside. Ceiling fan above the bed also. A small bar fridge. The balcony was on the tiny side, but to be honest, we only used it to dry our laundry as it was too hot to sit outside. But in Winter, maybe. There was two comfy chairs and a small table on the balcony. The Views over the lagoon and pool were straight from a postcard.
Staff throughout the resort were always friendly and helpful.
Food was of a high standard. The breakfast buffet was to die for, complete with a chef to cook your own personal omlette. The choice was huge, and every day there was something different on offer. Breakfast at the Verandah Restaurant was one of the highlights of our day. The views are stunning. Lobby Bar and Dinner Buffet prices are comparable to a decent restaurant in Australia. If you are expecting cheap food, you will be disappointed.
Gardens are immaculate and beautiful.
Main pool area is huge. Never felt crowded although the resort was at maximum capacity. A fantastic kids water play area also. Pool bar with Sun Lounge service is a bonus. There is a adult only smaller pool a bit further away also. Good for those looking for peace and quiet. The lagoon is ok to swim in, not much to see for snorkelling though. Kayaks and little Hobie Cats are available FOC for your use. There is also Golf, Beach Volleyball and a Gym.
Tour Desk was very helpful. Taxis and Buses are easily hailed at the front door. 5 mins to town.
The only negative thing (that didn't worry us) is for those with a disability or a pram, there is no lifts, and a fair few stairs to get down to the pool area. You are able to stay ground level, but still no way to the pool if you are in a wheelchair. I raised this issue with the General Manager and they are looking into ways to make the resort a bit more disabled / pram friendly.
I haven't posted any photos, as all the ones on here already are exactly how the resort looks. Picture perfect......we will be returning in Dec '12.

Room Tip: King Lagoon View rooms, views are to die for.

I was a guest at Holiday Inn Resort from Xmas day right through to 6th Jan. Travelling on my own I was initially concerned as to whether there would be enough to occupy my time, I need not have worried. I ran out of time for all the things I wanted to do! With a choice of 2 pools, non motorised water sports(spent my mornings kayaking), not to mention the onsite casino! My days where filled, with everything from Kava tasting to catamaran lessons. I have travelled all over the world and never have i found the staff more helpful and friendly, from a wave as you go through the lobby in the morning, to taking the time to remember your name/room number, ordering food & drinks was a breeze.

You also have many choices for food, be it a meal in the restaurant, room service, drinks/snacks by the main pool. If you are taking trips you would need to visit the cascade waterfalls and for an around island tour you can't beat the staff of Native Round Island Tours!! All of which was arranged by concierge! You couldn't stand in the lobby too long with out one of them coming up to see if they could help!

By the end of my trip I felt like I was part of the Holiday Inn Vanuatu Family, a special thanks to Florence from the Pool bar, Evelyn in the day spa (awesome massages!!) & david from the restaurant you guys are AWESOME!!

We stayed for 8 days 1st week in December. The hotel was quiet probably around 50% occupancy. This made our stay very relaxing and the staff had fewer people to cater for therefore the service was outstanding. Because the resort is on the lagoon water sport equipment is available for guests use and there is also a golf course. There are 2 pools one family and a quieter pool for adults only. I liked that as well as the restaurant you could also get lighter meals in 2 other locations - we will be back there for sure.

We found the Holiday Inn fabulous. It was the beginning of December and the resort had hardly any guests which made our four night stay very relaxing.
The food was fantastic - especially the giant spread that is put on for breakfast.
It was close enough to town to catch a taxi in for dinner or to endulge in shopping or day diving trips.
Perfect for young family's, and couples alike.

Room Tip: Choose the Lagoon view room

We stayed at The Holiday Inn resort Vanuatu and can't say enough about the wonderful staff, excellent food, great rooms, facilities and location. We were there for 6 nights and didn't want to leave. The hotel has undergone refurbishments, so our room was brand new. We had a lagoon view room with a nice view of the pool and lagoon. The room was small but very comfortable and clean.
The breakfasts were fantastic. Buffet with all the usual cooked items, a chef to make omlettes, lots of fresh fruit, and pancakes that changed daily - mango, banana, blueberry - all yummy!
The staff are genuinely friendly and cannot do enough to make your stay a great one.
Make sure you do a tour to Crystal Blue turtle cove and Blue Lagoon. Amazing snorkeling and you can handle baby sea turtles and feed the big ones. Such a great experience.
Prices are pretty much the same as in Aust. 100 vatu = $1 AU. Getting around Port Vila is easy as buses (vans) cost about $2.50AU per person to go from the hotel into Vila. Taxis apparently are a lot dearer.
We really enjoyed our time in Vanuatu and the staff at the holiday inn resort had a lot to do with that. Can't wait to go back again. We will definitely stay at the holiday inn again.

My husband & I spent ten days here and it was the most relaxing holiday we have ever had! The staff are friendly and very efficient and are always happy to see you. There are two pools ,,,one is great for the kids but we tendered to stay in the smaller more pivate pool which catered more for adults. Breakfast was very well catered for and they made the best omlettes. The rooms are a good size clean and have great views ( we stayed in a lagoon view room) The bathrooms were small but clean and the water pressure was great! ! We would recommend this resort to anyone especilly if you want lots of rest and relaxation and a divine view at breakfast every morning,,,,,,,Just devine,,,,,,Thanks Holiday Inn!

Room Tip: The Lagoon view rooms are a must!
