We stayed for a week over New Year. Lovely resort with an impressive list of facilities and activities included.

The room was great to wake up over the water but not as private as we imagined - our first morning a seaplane went past, the hotel's guests on kayak's and catamaran's, the floating restaurant and even the locals but this added to the charm of the place. On check in they take you in a golf buggy to the room as they are a 10 minute walk from the rest of the hotel. This is a bonus as it makes for a peaceful stay away from the families. I would have thought for the price of the room there may be a welcome drink or fruit basket included. There is a swing bridge which would take you directly to the hotel but it is out of action at the moment, when this is fixed it will be ideal. Also I couldn't climb out of the water to my bungalow but I understand that they will be putting ladders on there to help. There are a few fish and starfish to see from your bungalow but the highlight is the view when you wake up as you feel like you are on a boat.

The pools are great, the large family orientated one and the quieter one that mainly had couples.

The staff were friendly and as helpful as their language skills allow. I had 2 massages at the small spa, make sure you ask for the treatment rooms away from the children's club - not such a good idea building them next to each other in old guest rooms. Maybe one day they could change this as the property has a lot of land.

We had quite a bit of room service relaxing in our bungalow, which was excellent. The breakfast buffet was great. We had dinner in the restaurant and in the bar too and the food was good.

It's only a short bus or taxi ride to town.

Room Tip: At the moment there are only 5 overwater bungalows that are renovated but when they are complete, 3...

Good Afternoon Scubagbr

Thank you for the review and we have certainly taken your points on-board for the welcome experience into the Vila's. We are currently working with the owners to create a new spa experience down by the non-active pool in the near future......ready for your next visit.

Great tip on the which Vila's to request and let me add a tip of my own in here as we find that the 3 overland Vila's are requested by people traveling with infants so they still get the Vila experience without the concerns of direct water access.

Hope to see you back in Vanuatu soon.

Holiday Inn exceeded our expectations. We have travelled and stayed in various types and styles of accommodation and have never received the type of warm, genuine and fun response from all staff so consistently. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the hotel amenities were good. Food and drinks were slightly expensive though. The range of activities available was great and ensured we always had the option of something to do or join in. We absolutely will be back again.

Good Afternoon CheandErin

Thank you for your review. We are extremely lucky to have such warm and genuinely friendly staff members that enjoy interacting with our guests!

In Vanuatu we pay a significant amount of excise and duty on Alcohol and certain foods to ensure that these items we may enjoy do not become a bigger issue in the local communities.

Look forward to welcoming you back to Vanuatu soon.

We stayed here early Jan 2012 and it was just perfect !!
Staff were just so friendly and welcoming
We wanted an extra bath towel, was delivered within 10 minutes
We had a small problem with the shower, was fixed within half an hour.
Smiling frieldly faces everywhere.
The accomodation and resort surroundings and facilities amazing !!
Thomas the GM and especially Mark , Manager, was fantatic.
The only negative is the coffee ( I mean the real coffee, Cap and Latte) was terrible and costs $4. I mentioned it to Mark and he said they are getting Victtoria coffee in and teaching the staff how to make it. If they get this right then this place will be absolutely perfect !!
Buffet dinners , great. Food fresh and spot on.
Well done Holiday Inn Vanuatu, we (my wife and Son) Certainly hope to be back soon !!
Vanuatu is a beautiful place,Not cheap in fact very simily to Sydney prices BUT well worth a visit and only a 3 hour flight. Cascades, Hideaway Island , Pele Island, Blue Lagoon, Village visits - Gosh, wish we were back there !!

Room Tip: We had a Resort view twin and it was fine

Good Morning Phil F

We wish you were back here as well!

Victoria Coffee has been introduced into the hotel whilst still keeping some the locally produced Tanna coffee available as well. I know Mark has been working hard with the team to ensure the consistency of every cup

Thanks for the review and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Stayed at holiday inn mid jan for 1 week. As a late 20s couple we found it perfect. Same on offer as le lagoon but cheaper. Better than Irririki. Freshly renovated is a plus as feels new. Wasn't busy which was nice. Buffet breakfast and dinner was very good!!! We loved every minute. Coming from Melbourne the on site casino was simple but a nice change from the over the top crown casino. The choice of two pools was good. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. A special mention to joes ski doo hire at Irririki as mine broke down halfway, sucked in some debri and we got a free go a few days later. We walked to town most of the time which is about 25minute walk, not for everyone but allows you to get the feel of Vanuatu. 10/10

Room Tip: Lagoon view not necessary as many say is best. Get that same view while dining anyway, and while hol...

My pregnant girlfriend and I stayed for a week starting new years eve and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

The resort is clean, well presented and has a nice outlook onto the lagoon. The staff were very friendly and showed concern and gave us assistance when my girlfriend was feeling unwell and had to go to the private clinic during one evening.

The gardens are well maintained although perhaps not quite as lush and manicured as a certain other big resort down the lagoon which we went to for a swim and were very impressed by the presentation. Holiday Inn gardens are very nice, but it's a bit more open and grassy whereas the other resort is wall to wall manicured gardens.

There is one restaurant in the Holiday Inn which also doubles as the eating area for the breakfast buffet, and I thought it would have been nice to have a couple of separate restaurants (like some of the other big resorts have) because it doesn't feel that special having a romantic dinner in the same seat that you eat your breakfast in everyday. The breakfast buffet was good and similar to those I've had elsewhere in big resorts. No complaints there.

There seemed to be a jet spa pool area in the main pool area (behind the kiddies pool area) although the jets weren't operating (again the jet spa in the pool at the other big name resort down the lagoon was functioning when we went there)

We stayed in a lagoon view room which was very nicely presented although our room was 377 at the very end of the hall . I'd stated on our booking form my girlfriend was 7 months pregnant so I was surprised that they gave us the top floor room at the furthest end of the hall with the longest walk to get to it, but its no biggie. There was massive tree in front of our room which although a very nice tree obscured the view considerably and made the room quite dark. The hanging light over the table didn't work I think because the globe was busted. We made a couple of calls to reception who said they would get engineering to fix it although it wasn't fixed during our stay (Thomas you might want to check that its not still busted)

Thats just a few small things, although they didn't really diminish the enjoyment of our trip. For the price we paid and the service and value we received Holiday Inn did a good job. I think the other resort I was referring to is actually more expensive anyway so it comes down to a cost/benefit calculation in the end.

Room Tip: If you book a lagoon view room dont get the rooms at the end of the hall because theres a big tree i...

Good Morning Dylan C

Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

As you will soon find out (all the best for the upcoming arrival) the open spaces are something that the kids really enjoy when and if they actually leave the pool! The area you mentioned behind the kids play area is designed so you can sit in it sipping your cocktail and keep an eye on the kids as they play under the tipping cones and mushroom it doesn't actually have spa jets in it.

Thanks for the reminder on the light above the table pleased to report its up and running. Please my apologies that wasn't the case whilst you were with us.

Hope to see you and the newly extended family back with us soon.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn over Christmas and New Years. Having read recent reviews on Trip Advisor we were quite excited by what everyone else was saying... and they weren't wrong!

The hotel delivered everything we'd read and more. Holiday Inn have clearly spent a lot of money doing the hotel up. Our hotel room must have been so recently refurbished the iron still had the plastic twisty tie around the cord, and the towels had that brand new fluffy feel.

We had a room overlooking the lagoon - at first we had hoped for a pool view, but I think in the end we did better with the view we had.

The food at the hotel was excellent! We ate there many more times than we had planned because it was so good, and there was such a variety. We dined at all the food outlets and enjoyed every meal we had. The hotel also put on some great banquets for Christmas day - with prawns and oysters where can you go wrong!!?!?!

The hotel is a bit of a walk from the main part of town. We made the trek on the first day and it took us about 25 minutes. Besides the first hill as you walk out of the resort, it was a pretty easy stroll. Given the heat though we opted for buses pretty much every other time. Sometimes we were lucky and only had to wait a few minutes at the hotel for a bus to arrive, but on other occasions we just walked up to the main round-a-bout outside the hotel (about a 5 minute walk) and were easily able to flag one down. We learnt the hard way that buses from the hotel to town are a flat 150 vatu per passenger. We made the mistake on the first day asking the drive how much, and ended up paying 200 vatu each.

The hotel staff were excellent!!! So, so friendly! Special mention for the activities team, especially John who helped me find a nice, fresh, juicy coconut to enjoy each day. Also the management of the hotel were very visible and interacted with the guests throughout the day. Thomas, Mark and Teneale were always out and about all around the hotel talking with guests, helping anyone with enquiries, and just overall enhancing the guest's stay.

I would without a doubt stay at the Holiday Inn next time we are in Port Vila.

Room Tip: We stayed in 317 - top floor, newly fitted out, nice view over the lagoon and golf course.

My partner and I stayed at the Holiday Inn for four days in January 2012 and had an excellent stay.

We stayed in a King Lagoon view apartment, which was perfectly adequate. The bathroom was small but had been well renovated. There was a small fridge in the room which didn't work, but was replaced on request. The room had a comfortable king sized bed and a TV (which was only switched on once!) and a table. It does not appear that the outside of the building had been renovated, so the balcony was tired and very small (about a metre wide), but had a nice view over the lagoon and swimming pool.

The facilities within the resort itself were fantastic. We had evening cocktails each night at the poolside bar, where the friendly staff would serve us drinks under a hut on the lagoon. There is also an impressive lobby bar. Both bars have happy hour at different times in the evening, so whilst drinks can be a little expensive, happy hour makes it more affordable.

The food at the resort was very impressive. We ate at the buffet for breakfast each morning, and were very impressed by the range of food - anything that you could ask for. Fresh fruit, cooked breakfast items, omlettes made to order. We also ended up eating at the buffet each night and were equally impressed by the quality and freshness of the food. One of the highlights was garlic prawns made to order by the chef.

We spent our days sightseeing outside of the hotel, but we could have easily filled up our days kayaking, swimming or snorkelling.

The staff were all very friendly, although beware that things generally happen on island time - it may take a little longer to receive a coffee or a drink than it would back home, but it's all part of the experience.

The hotel is in a good location, about 10 minutes drive from town. Just be aware that buses aren't always easy to flag from this hotel, but taxis are always available.

Overall we had a great stay at the Holiday Inn and would return.

Thank you for the review and please accept my apologies for the fridge not working on your arrival.

Our live cooking station in the buffet area certainly attracts a lot of attention both at breakfast and also at night with our nightly themed buffets. Matthew Lambert our Executive Chef has shared your comments with a very proud kitchen brigade.

Hope to see you back in Vanuatu soon.
