We stayed at the Holiday Inn Port Villa for 5 nights in June with our 3 year old and had a fantastic time. The Hotel is very clean, the room was lovely and the staff really super helpful. They were all very helpful and kind to our daughter and she totally loved the icecream dessert station at the Hotel Restaurant. Kids eat for free which was fantastic, and the children's pool facilities were fantastic. Couldn't get her out! A great location for catching a taxi or Bus into town, about 500V seemed to be the average, and the drivers helpful and informative too. Had a fantastic time and planning to go back with the extended family next year

Good Morning sarahwi

Thank you for your 'gorgeous' review.

The dessert station on the buffet is certainly a hit with both the kids and the kids at heart!

Look forward to welcoming you and the extended family back to Vanuatu.

Travelled with kids and Grandkids Our 1st trip to Vanuatu. We will definately go back to Vanuatu and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn
One tip , Kids club should be better advertised as to what they have planned for the day. After staying in Fiji the last two holidays , the kids club was always a hot spot for the grandkids with plenty of outdoor things to do. The only way we found out about what was on here was to ask.
All in all though great food , great spot. We loved it !!

Thank you for the review and the feedback on the kids club.

The Totel (kids) Club is an important part of the overall experience and we certainly don't need to be keeping it a secret!

Look forward to welcoming you all back to Vanuatu in the near future.

This was our first visit to Holiday Inn, a party of four adults & 2 children. The most impressive thing are the staff, always smiling & ready to help could not fault any of them. Having previosly travelled to Fiji found the staff at Holiday Inn more genuine, credit to all, reception, tour desk , cleaning, maintaince ,activities & dining room.Cleaniness is excellent, room comfotable, we had a lagoon view with balcony on the bottom floor better with children, easier to access.
One of our party is Coliac & found food excellent, separate toaster at breakfast, menu is marked with GF options.Buffet breakfast for all was faultless, kids liked making their own juice, omelletes made to order for the adults, good variety for all , plus always top up from the passing coffee pots.Buffett meals good value, meals of the menu always good well priced , we ate there every night. In all a very relaxing holiday

Thank you for the very relaxing review!

Breakfast is apparently the important meal of the day and the Kitchen Brigade and Service Team are making sure that they also make it one of the most memorable!

Staff very friendly and helpful.
Big rooms, king bed, flat screen TV, modern bathroom, lagoon view room level 3 had beautiful outlook over grounds and lagoon.
Great location right on Erakor Lagoon with beach, free sail boats and kayaks, two pools, ping pong and a so so 9 hole golf course.
Town is 10 mins by cab or mini bus and costs about $200 vatu ($2 Aus). Its about 30 mins walk and quite hilly. Town shops are very run down and the place generally is a bit like Fiji with lots of rubbish and not much infrastructure. A nice golf course about 10 mins out of town on the way to cascades.
You have to do the cascades tour - it only takes a few hours. Have a swim under the waterfall, its fantastic. Say hello to Bishop the dog which makes the trip 3 times a day with each group. He is extra friendly and always brings his coconut for the trip up to the waterfall.
Meals are about $20 - $30 (Aus). Drinks can be expensive so utilise happy hour from 4 - 6 at pool bar and 8 - 9 at terrace restaurant.
When arranging for tours its a good idea to get the time and date in writing from the operator as they don't always turn up and don't want to know you. We left the around island tour to the last day and they didn't show. Thats a good excuse for us to come back to this wonderful hotel and country.

Room Tip: Don't get a room which has a connecting door to the room next door as sound leaks too easily int...

Good Morning iggyAustralia

Thank you for your 'first class' review.

The golf course at Mele will be hosting the Vanuatu Golf Open in the next couple of weeks maybe something else for the list of reasons to return!

Sorry to here about your round the island tour on the last day its certainly not the normal practice from the majourity of tour operators in Vanuatu but a good tip to get all the bookings confirmed in writing.

Look forward to welcoming you back to Vanuatu in the near future.

We just returned from 6 nights here and had trouble faulting the Holiday Inn Vanuatu. We stayed in a family suite, which are 2 interconnecting rooms - one just like a normal hotel room with a king bed, yet the other is kids paradise with a loft treehouse bunk bed, mini table and chairs, bean bags, play station and lots of little finishing touches. The photos of the kids room on the HI website are very accurate. Someone who has young kids obviously designed it because there were also safety plugs in the power points and bottom rung of the ladder was a fair way off the ground so my 17 month old couldn't climb it. Both children could climb the balcony railings though, but we wouldn't leave them alone with the balcony anyway so it wasn't a problem. My 3 year old was in heaven and didn't want to leave the room for the 1st day - until she found the pool! She loved the toddler pool with water fountains and tipping buckets, and they also had a pool that was about waist height on me that we practiced swimming in - easier than in the big pools given the depth. All of the pools were cold though - this would have been refreshing in the hot sun - but in winter it would be nice if it was heated a little. There were also heaps of other things to do with young children - kayaking, exploring, the playground playing in the sand and walking along the lagoon counting starfish & hermit crabs (very exciting for little kids!). We only used the kids club once, it was fine. It will be more useful to us when my younger child is old enough to go. The activities sounded fun though.
The resort is old - I hear it's the oldest in Port Vila. However it's been extensively & tastefully refurbished. You still see some things that are obviously old - mainly the exterior, particularly the small balconies and aluminium sliding doors. The rooms were nice though. All in all a very nice refurbishment to about 90% of the resort.
The food - We ate a fair bit at the resort as kids ate free and it was convienient. The menu at the pool & lobby bars were fairly standard for an international resort - club sandwich, burger etc etc. Quality was ok. As for dinner, once you took into account getting into town and paying for kids meals, the price for the buffet was about the same as eating at a nice restaurant. The buffets (including breakfast which was included in our rate) usually had a wide variety. It tasted nice enough, but there wasn't anything that made me think that it was delicious (which I did think when we ate else where). The exception was the Asian buffet - it was awful! We've had better in both variety and taste at a bad Asian take away in a shopping centre food court. It's now an adjective for us to describe something really bad (as in "it was worse than the Asian buffet").
The most disappointing part of the stay was checking out, which is a shame, as it's my last memory of the resort. Despite there being 3 staff there, it was slow, disorganised & I kept being ignored even when I thought someone was helping me they just started doing something else. All while the airport transfer bus was waiting. To top it off, a 3% credit card surcharge - I wasn't expecting this from a major hotel chain, and haven't come across it in any of my other travels.
Overall, this was exactly what you would expect from a big resort, with a family friendly focus that was very much appreciated. I would highly recommend it & certainly consider staying here again if we were to return to Port Vila.

Good Afternoon restless4

Thank you for your review.

Please accept my apologies for both your food and beverage experience and also your slow departure. I know the team have sent you an email already based on the feedback received from your in-room guest questionnaire as it's not the experience we are striving to achieve. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance at thomas.tait@ihg.com

The unseasonal weather we have seen this year has certainly taken its toll on the pool temperatures but as you mentioned the main pool is fairly shallow 1.4 metres deep it warms up quickly which we are seeing now with the brilliant sunny days and an outside temperature of 28 degrees.

We certainly look forward to welcoming you all back to Vanuatu in the near future.

Returned last week from Vanuatu :( - and stayed at the Holiday Inn. Previously we have stayed at the Holiday Inn resort in Phuket and were blown away by how magnificent the grounds, service, locality and not to mention the food offered at the resort. So based on our stay at the HI in Phuket we thought we would give the HI in Vanuatu a go, especially since it had recently received a major renovation. We went wanting a relaxing, fun, do activities with the kids (2 teenagers) kind of holiday - and that is what we got. There wasn't an awful lot on offer for our teenagers as most of the children staying at the resort were much younger (with an age appropriate kids club to go to), but they still loved the Kiyaks, Catamarans and the gym on offer.
Our room was lovely with an extremely confortable bed. Clean, modern bathroom - all be it on the small size, but still adequate. Water pressure in the overhead show was wonderful - this can make or break a holiday as far as I am concerned! But, the soundproofing of rooms that joins yours is not all that great. One night was particularly bad when we had to listen to an extremely lound TV for a couple of hours in the early hours of the morning. But, it only happened once and never again.
We ate breakfast at the buffet as this was the most convenient for us. From our experience it was not as good as the Phuket Holiday Inn buffet which had a much larger selection. But, the food was still very good. Food by the pool and in the lounge was very nice, as the kids enjoyed a snack by the pool/beach.
On a final note, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful all the time. Always smiling and happy to have a chat and get to know you. One of the best parts of the holiday.
Overall I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn in Vanuatu if you are considering going to that part of the globe either as a family, couple or single.

Good Afternoon Dina G

What a 'lovely' review!

We have over 30 Holiday Inn Resorts globally with Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu the first for this region. The beds and shower heads are brand standard and will be found in all our Holiday Inn's globally.

The team are working on the soundproofing between the interconnecting rooms and also have just started to implement our 8 year old+ activity plan which brins the older kids together for a series of activities some of which you can see on our facebook page.

Look forward to welcoming you and the family back to Vanuatu in the near future.
