I have been travelling the Pacific Islands for some 33 yars now and have stayed in all types of accomodation..from fancy resorts ( someone else paying!) to budget guesthouses as at the time /place thats all trhere was.....Coral motel is amzingly good value for money!. On arrival , Beth and tony could not have been more helpful and I was also greeted got a cuddle by the three"girls"..their pedigeree dogs which are just lovely!
Im a relatively picky traveller ( when it comes to BED and SHOWER...I was not dissapointed!..My old back slept well and the shower was a good pressure..every thing else would not have mattered...however as it was, the loo and bathroom and Kitchen were spotlessly clean. I absolutely recommend Coral Motel as a place to stay ...I WILL BE BACK!...Paul Linton

This is the second time I have stayed at the Coral Motel & Apartments, and I look forward to returning in the future. You may ask why?, and the answer is quite simple. It is the best value for money accommodation in Port Vila. You have a choice of fan only, or air-con + fan rooms, all rooms have balcony views, but best of all they are self catering with full size fridge/freezer and stove. All bathrooms have had a complete makeover, + new large flat screen TVs, if you find the time to watch them when not out touring. Free wireless Internet, complementary use of the laundry and don't forget the great BBQ area. Although the road in front of the Motel is very busy, the sliding glass doors filter the traffic noise nicely, so that it is not a problem. A little out of town, but the abundance of buses that can be caught at the front of the Motel for 150 Vatu (about $1.60 Aus) take only 5 min to reach the Central Market in the heart of Port Vila. A quite relaxed stroll will get you there in 20 minutes. Finally a word about mine hosts, Beth and Tony. Nothing is to much trouble for them, a wealth of knowledge on places to eat, visit, delivering you to the Airport in the early hours and thanks for fixing my glasses and posting back to us a few items we left in the room on departure.

We stayed at the Coral Motel for a couple of weeks during February and had a fantastic time. The rooms are amazing and have everything from fluffy towels to fullsize flat panel TV's. Really comfortable beds make for a great holiday, and the beds here are terrific.

The full size kitchen with 2 door fidge and gas stove with oven allowed us to take advantage of Vanuatu's great produce. The Coral is only a 10min walk from the main fruit and veg market and supermarkets are close by for meat etc. You are able to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by...its fantastic.

Beth and Tony are wonderful people and a great source of help and information. They did everything possible to make sure we enjoyed our holiday in Vanuatu.

Dont be fooled by the Budget tag the Coral is far above that and would shame a lot of 5 star places. The Coral allowed us to have a great holiday at a fantastic price

We stayed at the Coral Motel for the first few nights of our trip to Vanuatu. The motel is exactly as it claims to be and I could not fault the level of service or the standard of accomodation: everything is how it should be for the price range.

The only apparent issue may be the busy road that the motel is on, but once you close the patio door the noise disappears and we did not find it a problem at all. The kitchenette does the job if you're looking to prepare food instead of going out to dine.

The motel is not in the town centre but that's not a problem as the frequently passing buses will take you into town for 150vt (NZ$2) or you can walk (about 15-20mins). The owners are friendly and the 'orientation tour' of Port Villa for newbies was great for getting our bearings.

The free wi-fi is also a bonus for keeping tabs on the outside world. Would have no hesitation on going back to Coral at all.

My husband and I stayed at the Coral for one week in early November and were extremely pleased with our choice of accommodation. As first-timers to Vanuatu, we were looking for reliable, clean, air-conditioned, self-catering accommodation within walking distance to Port Vila from which to base ourselves for the week and explore Vila and the island. What we found at the Coral more than met this criteria. You have a choice of air-conditioned or fan-only rooms - with the air-conditioned being on the top floor. Coming from a non-humid cooler climate, we very much appreciated the air-conditioning and the small amount in extra cost was well worth it. The room was extremely clean and serviced each day with fresh towels. The bathroom was modern, as was the kitchen. We very much appreciated a full kitchen with full-sized fridge and stove/oven as we love to cook while on holidays using produce from the local markets and supermarkets. For a studio room, it was quite spacious and also had a balcony with table/chairs. The TV was also connected to in-house movies and a large DVD library was available to request your favourite selection when you needed a breather from all the touring/exploring. A computer was available at reception for guest use if you didn't bring your own laptop (rooms had wireless internet).
The location was on the main highway from the airport and a 20 minute walk into town. Although we started walking, the heat/humidy and the ease of catching a bus saw us using buses instead of walking by the end of the week. Literally, over 1000 buses pass the front door of the motel each day and they cost 150v per person (about $1.70 Ausralian). Although the motel is on the main road which is very busy (and I mean busy) - the traffic noise was not a problem. The garden is quite extensive and filters the traffic view and noise out. We were out most days and at night, adjusted the air-con and closed the doors so we woke to bird-song rather than traffic noise. We quite enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the locals go by on their daily routine. There is also a nice bbq area at the front for guest use and we tried this on two occasions. There is no pool but, on this type of exploring trip, we didn't miss this at all. Also the rooms at the top, from memory, are called 'Bay View' but any views they once had of water have disappeared. We hadn't expected any as we had previewed the motel on their website.
What added to being a great choice of accommodation, was the wonderful hosts that run the Coral - Tony and Beth (ex-Australians). They welcomed us warmly and were so helpful during our entire stay. They had arranged a great transfer from the airport and personally ran us back there at the end of our stay. After we had unpacked, Tony drove us around town to give us an orientation of the place, pointing out landmarks and other interesting places. Throughout the week, whenever he was available, which was almost always, he offered us a lift - he dropped us at the Cascades (highly recommended) one day and Hideaway Island the next - and we found our own way home which is easy with the quanity of buses around. He booked us into the Training Restaurant for lunch one day and ran us there and introduced us to the guys running it. He shared his 'favourite takeaway' secrets with us and ran us there as well. Tony and Beth also share their knowledge and arrange tours of your choice (and put these on your Motel bill paid at the end of your stay so you have no worries about arranging) - we wanted a round-island trip and they selected an excellent local one and booked for us. One day, I needed a bigger pot for the stove to poach my chickens and they lent me that and gave me the full choice of their spice selection. For first-timers like us, it was wonderful having them handy to ask - but they most certainly weren't obstrusive into your privacy - but were there when you needed them (and their three little white dogs were drop-dead gorgeous too)!
All in all, loved our first trip to Vanuatu and our choice in booking the Coral Motel just added to the great trip. An excellent base and excellent hosts, and would highly recommend this accommodation to others planning a similar trip.

If you are looking for a comfortable and practical base in Port Vila from which you can do all tours on offer then this is your best choice! The self contained studios are roomy and very neat and tidy and all this at a fair price. The hosts will also help you arrange your tours with a smile. I stayed one week in October 2010 and was very happy with my choice. Tours I would recommend are Mele Cascades,Ekasup Village and Sailaway Cruise to Hat Island and 1/2 day of relaxing on Hideway Island.
