Try this place if you are after a peaceful relaxing evening, the location is great and the walk from the car park to the restaurant is beautiful. through a lovely garden. Setting is great and the food is good.

My partner who is a vegetarian, was delivered the wrong meal. They took his meal back and after 10 minutes offered to take mine back to the kitchen. When the correct dish (tempura vegetables) was delivered, oil was dripping from the vegetables. It was inedible and at that point we asked for the bill and intended to leave. The manager of the restaurant then came to our table and said "have you got a problem". We explained oil was dripping from the vegetables to which he commented "it looks alright to me" - maybe he should have picked up a piece and also tasted it. We are regular visitors to Vanuatu and this restaurant, however based on our last experience and the attitude from management, we sadly will not be returning.

I have thought it through a lot, and I do not want to be unfair to a very warm place, but I want to outline all points separately. This quiet adults-only resort inspires warmth and tranquillity. Except that it is not really quiet and not really adults-only as it operates a separate restaurant, which is (justifiably) full most of the time, and where of course children are not excluded. The setting is indeed pretty and sweet, and the managers are very friendly, very warm people. There is, however, no beach, but you would know that by now.

The restaurant is absolutely exquisite. Hands down best dinner experience we had in Vanuatu and there's not much else to say here. Perfect!

Our room, however, had a number of flaws that would need some attention. This affected our experience and is the main reason behind the score. A different room could easily have been a 5-star rating. As it is situated directly above the kitchen, it was a bit noisy both from the kitchen and the restaurant area. It was also very hot with a lot of heat coming from the floor, which was ok given the fact that there's an air-condition in the room, but that meant that it had to be on all the time, which we didn't like. The greatest problem, however, was with the shower where the water temperature was constantly fluctuating and made taking a shower a very long and difficult job.

Try and get a different room, and you're likely to be rewarded.

OK - maybe the Paradise bit is over the top. However, Vila Chaumieres is an oasis. It is a short distance from Port Villa (bus ride - you hail them like taxis - 250 V)

You can have a choice of a room upstairs above the reception area with a view of the lagoon on a cottage in the tropical gardens. Tried the both and would go back to the garden for peace and serenity. Not that there is a lot of noise in the other rooms - just liked the bungalow better.

The hosts are great - staff is great. Ursula and Richard will recommend and arrange tours as required.

On site restaurant is great with deserved rave reviews.

Would recommend to adult travelers who are seeking peace and avoidance of work. There is a small pool but that is all you need. You can visit other areas or go on tours if you want to snorkel etc

Planning with the Holiday God(s) to try to get back again for another detox

Receiving emails from fish under restaurant complaining no one else is feeding them as much!

I have ranked the rooms as very good. The only issue is the water flow and the inability to balance hot and cold. I understand this is being addressed.
It would be great if, when the replace the room fridge, to get the next size up.

A big plus for the "quiet" experience is the restriction on young children. The hotel is not suited to them - there are plenty of children focused resorts in the area.

Room Tip: go for a bungalow for that treasure island experience

A small boutique type resort with 6 separate bungalows, each with there own ensuite and air con and tasteful decor. The complimentary breakfast was lovely with a cooked breakfast available if you want more.
Each bungalow is separated by a path which is completely surrounded by lush tropical gardens which are just gorgeous and attended to daily by Ian and Jeff.
The onsite restaurant is amazing.
All the staff are very friendly and warm.
The location is very convenient and short bus ride to town.
The owners are onsite and always available to provide suggestions for tours and activities.
The bar area looks out onto the lagoon and just perfect for afternoon drinks and pate :}
Do yourself a favour and try this place.

The only thing I missed was a TV and phone but I think this says more about me than the resort. Mind you from what I saw no TV and phone seems typical of other resorts in Vanuatu.

Room Tip: There are ground level rooms with no stairs if this is a concern

We didn't stay here, but we ate at restaurant twice, and it really has to be one of the best we have ever been to, anywhere ever! The coconut crab is to die for! Along with the coconut ice cream! The view is incredibly gorgeous, romantic and quiet. Truly special and memorable.
The staff are never far away and the service is fast.
The only disappointment is that we're now home and can't eat there again any time soon!
