This was our first time to Port Vilia and Vanuatu and after much searching on the internet we decided to stay and Fatumaru Lodge. We are a family of 4 (husband and 2 kids) and I have to say we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fatumaru, it was very kid friendly, the pool was a great hit and the little kitchenettes were very handy. The staff were very helpful and friendly (they helped us organise many excursions) and the location was perfect. We walked into town most days and it was a great leisurely stroll - not too far at all, even for the kids. We really like the fact that the Lodge had kayaks and a paddle-board to utilise for free. We took the double kayaks out a couple of times and explored the bay. Great way to have a little look around. The free Wi-Fi was a big hit too - especially for the kids. One item that we are very grateful for is we were upgraded to the top floor (the owners residence) and this provided us as family a lot more room to move around and made the kids far more happy and comfortable. This was a very pleasant surprise for us all and made our holiday and stay so much more enjoyable. The only advice I would offer here is that they need to put an a/c in the kids room. We had some very hot nights and had to move the kids into our room so that they could get some sleep. But this was minor in the scheme of it all. Great stay - we would go back again.

A small boutique resort close to Port Vila. Very comfortable & quiet during our stay.
Large rooms on a private beach with jetty
The staff were very friendly & helpful.
A good barbeque & lovely area for self catering or only a short walk to the city centre.
On checkout we paid via direct debit to an Australian account which was very easy.

We stayed in Port Vila twice - the first time at a large resort - the second time we had discovered the Fatumaru Lodge. If you are looking for a lovely view, large clean new rooms, on the water, a pool and walking distance to town for dinner - this is it!
The resort is small so it is easy to meet other guests and the owners are there so it is very well run. It is close to the airport and town and the room are very quiet.
This is my number 1 choice in PV.

Room Tip: All room are excellent.

This was our third trip to Vanuatu and this time we stayed at Fatumaru as we knew the location was good, it was quiet, and the rooms were large and had kitchenettes. There were two couples and we each had an upstairs room. The rooms were well-equipped, large and airy, with high ceilings and a balcony overlooking Fatumaru Bay.

We provided our own breakfasts and used the barbeque around the pool one night to cook some beautiful steaks and sausages from the boucherie up the hill (quite difficult to find, but an interesting trip). It's a 10-15 minute walk into town, and we did this several times, although we often caught a bus or taxi back.

We used the free kayaks a couple of times, and my husband tried the paddle-board once (unsuccessfully), and having the beach right at our front door was lovely. I loved the balcony with the fully-opening louvre doors so that we could extend our room outdoors and enjoy the scenery accompanied by a glass of wine.

Overall, we were very happy with our accommodation, the size of the rooms, the pool, free wifi, and the location.

Just one small point - prior to settling our account and paying for a couple of trips that we did (Yasur Volcano tour and Lelepa Island tour), we were told that we could either pay cash, or use a credit card which incurred a 3% fee. Given that the Volcano Tour alone was around $900 AUD for the two of us, we didn't want to pay an extra 3% on top of that, so we walked into town and withdrew cash from the bank, which was a lot of money to carry around. When we actually went to pay our account, we saw a sign that said we could do a direct transfer to avoid extra fees! It would have been helpful if the staff had told us this before we withdrew cash (and incurred fees anyhow!)

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a great view from the balcony, with very high ceilings so airflow was good. Als...

Dear Guest,

thank you for your excellent review, It is always great to know that after coming 3 time to Vanuatu you choose Fatumaru Lodge. You know Port Vila very well and the great Italian Butcher Traverso, amazing Steaks! Thank you for sharing that with new visitors.
It is true that in Vanuatu Banks charge 3,5 to 4% on credit card, I guess this is the price to pay for being a developing country?
But is it also true that we do have bank accounts in Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia to facilitate direct payment with no fee bank fee and to avoid to manipulate cash . This is also a great solution for your deposit for next booking.
Once again thank you for choosing Fatumaru Lodge.

Me and my partner are just home from 4 nights staying here. We stayed in the ground floor room that was beside the little beach. It was perfect. Wake up every morning and walk straight out to the sea.
The pool area was lovely and the room was big and had everything. The shower was lovely rainfall shower.
The free paddleboards and kayak were a great way to spend a few hours every day. Exploring all the places around..this is a small resort but for a couple who want relaxation and privacy u can't beat this.
The staff were great and it is do safe we never locked anything. Security guard at night was great. Highly recommended ...
Tip... Take the kayak and go over to chantillys for breakfast. Only takes ten minutes but well worth it.

Large exotic rooms with terrace and convenient shutters which provide fresh air and can be wide open. Breakfast outside near the swimming pool with nice view on the sea.
Good location if you want to visit the island. But if you wish to spend more time on the beach, there must be better places. As we only spent 3 days on Efate this place was exactly what we needed and as we left very early in the morning we appreciated very much the location near the airport. We found buses very easily and quickly to go to restaurants in the evening and by taxi we got the same price for two because we bargained.

I found Faumaru a really restful place to stay. Quiet surroundings, very helpful staff, lovely rooms, close to most things. It is an easy run from the airport and equally close to the centre of town. The grounds are well manicured and well maintained and all the amenities are there - pool, internet etc.
