I was here for 5 nights November 2011. I chose the budget section, it was clean & tidy, tiled floors with a fan.Room was on the small side, but adequet, it contained a double bunk (comfortable mattress, bed made every day) 1suitcase stand 2 chairs & a small table & a window. The shower room was just outside my door & shared between 2 rooms. The hot water was a little inconsistant, but not a major problem. The toilet was just down the corridoor. The staff are always cleaning which is good to see. The pool area is imaculate & spacious with lots of sun lounges. Several nice dining areas. Or you can do your own in the shared kitchen called baby docs. (or go down town to the markets for a good cheap meal.)This area left a lottle to be desired, mainly because not everyone cleans up after themself properly & the hotel wont clean it up, but I made do. Take your own matches for the gas burners though. The staff are lovely & very helpful. The walk into town is down hill down a fairly steep set of stairs, or you can hail a bus out the front. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Depends on your budget. i would suggest lots of research

I stayed at this place in October for 7 nights. I had an amazing time in Vanuatu and my stay at the Coconut palms was great. It is only a 5 min walk into town and you can also take a bus which costs about $1.50AUD per person. For people worried about the jail, it is down the end of the road and NOT across the road like some people have mentioned.
Our apartment was clean and spacious. It was cleaned daily and we were given new towels everyday. However, a couple times we were left with no towels and we were told they had ran out. They provided us with beach towels instead. Room walls are a bit thin, we could hear everything from our neighbours, luckly it only lasted a couple of nights!
The pool is amazing, lots of room to relax and there is a bar very close if you want to have a drink near the pool.
Staff were friendly and very happy to answer our questions.
Breakfast was great every morning. It was cooked fresh, which is better than eating from a buffet. We ate dinner a few night there and were happy with our meals. We took advantage of the special dinner nights. Pizza night was very busy and we waited 1 hr for our meals, so go early if your hungry! Every other night was great!
Thanks Coconut palms for a great stay. I will come back again!

We stayed at Coconuts twice during a 12 day stay in Vanuatu in July 2010. Rooms were in need of repair and updating then. Meeting the new manager in October 2011, a container load of new bathroom ware had arrived and was ready to be installed. that is encouraging. the room was spacious for the 4 of us for an overnighter before heading home. the kids love the pool - very clean and well maintained. Great breakfast - love the title - big fella! We will probably return. Easy walking distance to PV - about 10 mins or a cheap taxi fare outside the front door (all the time). Was entertained on a Saturday night with the band (not string, but reggae) doing fire dancing - excellent value. Noted that the level of service had increased and the lovely ni-Van staff seemed to be more aware of what was needed to be done - perhaps a reflection of new management? .

Stayed in a delux room booked through flight centre and what a mistake. Only stayed 2 nights and will never go back. Rooms are dirty and you can hear your neighbours every word and if they got frisky you got to hear every detail. What a mistake. Hated the place try somewhere eles.

I have stayed here before, but under the 'Wild Pig' hotel. I was hoping that since I'd last been here, as it's not called a resort they would have fixed the hot water problem, but to no avail (prices also much more expensive now).
The rooms themselves are nice and simple. Stayed in one which we shared a bathroom (with no hot water). Staff came to have a look and said it was a faulty shower head, but all of the shared showers on that level had no hot water. Also found out the maximum security jail is about 200m down the road (just a barb wire fence around it).
The location is good - about a 10 min walk downhill to the city. Breakfast is a little expensive but decent.
I'd try "A room with a view" - on the opposite side of town, but I think they're a little better.
