“Amazing Grace.......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2012

Been first time to Vanuatu it has been such a amazing journey . My stay at the Coconut Palms " Fantastic " . The staff were so kind an welcoming an they made my stay comfortable. The fire show is a must for any visitors to see ....certainly outstanding entertainment. And to other different activities provided it certainly was a bonus.
Staying in a Hibiscus room (pretty much basic) with shared bathroom an toilet ...I hav no complaints as Im still learning from basic an I suppose to upmarket basic. I certainly enjoyed the walks to town an back to the Resort which was only 10 mins away an I thoughts this was fantastic as everthing was close by. Theres certainly never short of any rides as the Buses runs all the time, taking you to places you wanted to go.
The pool " Fantastic " specially for that cooling swim throughout the day.
I hav no problems with the breakfast , lunch, or dinner ... Cheers to the Chefs and to all the staff of Coconut Palms Thankyou for your guys warm welcome and hospitality yous have shown .... It had been a pleasure to knows yous . Cheeers from NZ

Hi there Lillian261

Thank you very much for your kind words, and time you took to put a review on Tripadvisor. Over the years this has been an increasingly great source of feedback for us here at Coconut Palms Resort. We read out the reviews on a weekly basis at all the staff meetings and the crew really like hearing the positive feedback, and also it gives us good discussion points to talk through when things don't go so right.

In this case we are all very happy that you had a great time with us.

In regard to the Hibiscus room, you will be happy to hear that by the end of next week we will have installed Televisions in all these rooms, so next time you stay with us you will they will be a little less basic. Although we do have the Superior Orchard room and the Palms Deluxe Studio Apartments available if you are looking for something with Air conditioner, Ceiling Fan, Security Safe, Satellite Television, In house Movies, Telephone, Fridge, Microwave, Hair Dryer and Tea & Coffee making facilities.

Also, thank you for your positive feedback in regards to the kitchen, we are proud of our Kitchen team who recently took out 9 medals at the 2012 Culinary Arts and Hospitality Show. Our restaurant "Navara" still has not had many reviews on Tripadvisor, if you could find the time to pop one up there also we would be very appreciative.

Again, we are gracious that you took the time to review us on Tripadvisor, and look forward to seeing you next time you are in Vanuatu.

Kindest regards,

Hotel Management

On a missions trip from New Zealand to Tanna Island in Vanuatu's southern TAFEA Province, we needed some low-cost accommodation as we passed both ways through Vila to and from our destination. After two weeks living in villages and rationing water with the locals we were looking forward to a good bed and a warm shower before an early flight back to New Zealand.
We'd booked a Hibiscus Room for each end of our stay, but when we arrived back, we were met at reception by Elliot Agius, the Palms GM. He was very interested in what we'd been up to - and carried my bag to our room. Once he knew we'd been roughing it for a while, he turned away from the Hibiscus and gave us a free upgrade into a Superior Orchid room with air con and en suite.
Now, I know it's impractical for him to do that for everyone, but it was his service, and that of his staff, that makes us want to go back again.
And on top of that, he recommended a great restaurant down town for us to really enjoy our last night in Vanuatu.
The staff were very helpful and friendly at Coconut Palms, and combined with the other unexpected service, we're very happy to recommend it as good value, low cost accommodation the next time you're in Port Vila.

Room Tip: The Hibiscus and Superior Orchid rooms we used are towards the back of the property away from the ro...

For what you pay and it is not very much you get a really good deal. The bed was fine,(king size) the sheets clean, the floor swept and room service each day with clean towels when needed. The young staff are wonderful. The evening meals were lovely. It was quiet in the apartment area and I loved hearing the birds in the morning. The Fire Show on Saturday was spectacular, the fire dancers were amazing and the young kids were so cute. The Reggae Band was very cool and sitting out by the pool and listening to the music was very relaxing. We really loved our little holiday, loved Port Vila and loved the friendly people of Vanuatu.

Room Tip: Pay more and get more and don't whinge if you don't. The Apartments are very good.

Great location, attentive staff. Rooms nice, bathroom not the best. Nothing bad to say about the resort. Meals there are delicious and coffee is amazing! Great that they put on entertainment and nights to get you involved in Vanuatu culture.

Hi there Erin L

Thank you for your review, it is always hearing nice positive feedback. We noticed that the overall score you have given us seems to suggest we still have a way to go. If there was anything that we could have done better please email me gm@coconutpalms.vu. As per our Mission Statement "To be the best value resort in Vanuatu where service is not compromised and happy memories are guaranteed." Any feedback that will help us get there will be very appreciated.

Also thank you for your kind words regarding "Navara" our onsite restaurant doesn't have many reviews on Tripadvisor.com, if you find the time maybe you could share your experience on that page also.

Thank you for your review on Tripadvisor, and see you next time you are in Vila.

Regards,

My partner and I stayed at the Coconut Palms for 7 nights and we had a great time! When we first checked in we were a little disappointed to find our room had a double bed and no phone but the bed was comfy so we were ok about it. When we wend to have a shower that night our hot water was quite temperamental. We spoke to reception to got maintenance onto it. We were then moved to a new room as it was a problem that could not be fixed quickly. The room we were moved to was incredible! Same room type but with a Queen bed, phone and it was much larger. This issue was the only problem we had in 7 nights.
Breakfast each morning was great, and we ate dinner in the restaurant a couple of nights. We had the steak one night and it was cooked PERFECTLY! Delicious!
We attended the traditional feast one night and were treated to a kava ceremony, traditional dance followed by delicious traditional foods. Great value too at 2400 vatu (a steak on it's own is 2000v so this was well worth the money!)
We also attended the fire twirling ceremony one night, incredible talent plus some of the local kids get involved which is great to see! We played pool with some of the kids at the end of the show - such polite and lively children!
Finally, and most importantly, the staff at Coconut Palms are fantastic. They are polite and kind and always happy to say hello and have a chat. All encounters I had with staff were positive and I felt this was one of the most important parts of our stay. We felt welcomed and really enjoyed getting to know them as people during our stay.
When we return to Vanuatu we would definitely choose to stay at Coconut Palms Resort again!

i stayed in a hibiscus room and while it had basic facilities,a fan and the toilet and shower were down the corridor.i didnt find that a problem.the room was in excellent condition and sitting out on the balcony over looking the pool was pleasant. the big fella breakfast was delicious and fulling.the staff were great and everything was neat and tidy.it was easy to meet other guests in the bar or restaurant.the fire dance is a must see.the location is good,a short walk down town or there are buses going by regularly.as i was on my own i wanted budget accommodation and i found the room and resort great value.they have rooms with airconditioning and toilet shower if you want some thing more up market.

Arrived early morning and the room was a twin where you could hold hands in bed it was so small. Not what we were looking for at 3am. My friend and I asked for separate rooms for the night but was denied. The next morning they put us in a bigger twin room.
The rooms were abit tired but adequate. The food was excellent and the service good. Could not complain. It was a short walk to town down hill.

Thank you for your feedback Lillian,

Sorry for my delay in responding to your post here on TripAdvisor.

Sorry that your stay got off to a rocky start. Although i am thrilled to know that everything was sorted out by the very capable team at the Front Desk. I am glad to hear the issue was fixed and you went on to enjoy the remainder of your stay with us here at Coconut Palms Resort. In regards to your room feeling tired; we are always trying to keep the hotel fresh with regular upgrades, such as the 40 brand new power saving flat screen televisions we have installed in our rooms. I am sorry if this was not your experience and hope next time you stay with us you will get to see some of the completed new ideas that we are planning now.

As much as we are grateful for the time you spent providing this feedback, If you could get in contact with me via email regarding any finer points we could work on to freshen up the rooms in your opinion we would be all ears. We also have a Review Page in the Restaurant Section. If you wish to share your positive experience in that section as well we would be most appreciative.

Thank you for your review.

Kindest regards,

Management
