Enjoyed our very relaxing stay here, we had great weather, excellent snorkelling (can hire good clean gear from reception if you don't have your own - which we didn't) and very peaceful. The rooms are well spaced apart in the lovely gardens which are huge so we didn't really feel that there were other people staying unless we went to the restaurant. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. We had very good service and liked the overall laid back ambience of Benjor. We did go to town a couple of times during our stay - not too far about 15-20 mins by bus and the bus trip was actually like a tour in itself as we dropped off the locals at their villages. Good fun even if a bit bumpy at times! This is what an island holiday should be about.

Stayed in three places in Vanuatu - one in Santo and two in Port Vila. They were all quite different and we have written different reviews for each of them. But this was really good. Came from a cold snap in Sydney and the tropical weather and warmth of the people was much appreciated. This Resort is pretty basic but well worth a stay. Good size ocean facing rooms with good views across Mele Bay and well kept grounds were more than we expected for the price we paid. We did a very good escorted kayaking tour which we have also reviewed seperately and visited the beautiful Summit Botanical Gardens which were located conveniently behind the resort only a short steep bus ride. We found the staff helpful and friendly, the amenities were basic but met our needs - jug and fridge in our room were appreciated. This is a very relaxing and low key resort and we definitely unwound from the hustle and bustle of Port vila. Tip - we stayed an extra two nights at their "local" rate which was great. Worth asking if you are travelling around. Restaurant also very nice - plenty of variety and certainly cheaper than Sydney prices. Service was good - occasionally a little forgetful but always smiling.

Had a great four day trip to Vanuatu and really had a good experience overall. the people are simply lovely and always smiling. The Resort was excellent value for the package we paid which included airfares through Flight Center. Ocean front, huge rooms, great staff and probably the best snorkelling we have had the pleasure of doing. What made it great was that everyone was so friendly including the Australian managers and their local staff. Any question we asked was answered and we were given some great recommendations of things to do - like the firedancing at a local pizza bar. The grounds are huge and we spent quite a bit of time on the crazy mini putt course - challenging to say the least but a couple of the local beers really helped co-ordination.... We would definitely come back. thanks Benjor for a lovely relaxing holiday in the tropics.

Room Tip: The one bedroom villa we stayed in was in the middle of the resort and had great views over the pool...

Had a brilliant holiday here over Easter. The hosts Greg and Miranda were really informative and the local staff could not have been more helpful plus the great smiles really worked in getting us in the holiday vibe. Rooms were large and the grounds enormous. Loveed being by the ocean and the views from the restaurant were great. Snorkelling excellent and we found the nemos - thanks again Miranda for the directions - about 40 meters out from the main steps into the water and hang a right.... We would definitely recommend this place to our friends. Not too far from town and close to lots of great attractions like the Cascade Waterfalls and the firedancing at the Beaches Bar. Ticked our boxes and and our wallets weren't damaged!

Spent 10 days at Benjor and enjoyed our time there. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom Villa which was handy with an 8 month old having a kitchen and extra space. Good quiet location away from Town but only a 15 minute bus trip to Port Villa. Enjoyed the happy hours and daily cocktail of the day :)
Would recommend as a good base for exploring the Island.
Great friendly staff and easy to book tours through reception.

We love snorkelling and diving and indulged heaps in both these activities while in Vanuatu. We stayed at Santos and dived million dollar point and also at Hideaway in Port Vila both excellent and very different from each other.

After the diving we chose to have a chill out for a few days before heading home and stayed at Benjor located about 15 minutes from town in Mele Bay. We had a number of really great snorkells along their reef - strectches about 500mtrs along the resort and you only needed to go out about 25 meters to get among really pretty coral, nemos and other lovely fish. Pretty safe and easy at high tide.

The resort itself is situated on huge very pretty grounds - loads of space and privacy which we liked as just wanted to relax. The restaurant is open all day and serves a good variety of food at what thought were ok prices - good gastro pub. The staff are excellent and although the rooms are of a standard of a normal three star - this is what this resort is and they more than compensated by being really huge and with ocean views.

We would come back and do some more diving in Vanuatu and probably stay again at this charming resort for our R&R.

Thanks for the positive comments...Benjor agrees. Spend some time exploring another island whether it be for diving on Espiritu Santo, land diving on Pentecost or volcano watching on Tanna then chill out with us at Benjor. We like the gastro pub tag and will be doing even more with our food coming up. Lunch will be developed as well as adding a Tapas menu to complement the long awaited wood fired pizza oven which will be here soon.

Good value for what we paid for. Absolutely oceanfront. Re some comments other people made about beach, so let me just clarify that. Yes there is no sandy beach at this resort, only coral beach. In fact there is no sandy beach in port vila, incl hideaway island. Sandy beaches are located on other side of the Efate island.

Advantages:
Good views, nice pool. Spacious unit. Reasonably priced for a no more than 3 star hotel. Nice food, well cooked but not cheap. Fetaccini 2300 vt, beef steak 3200 vt. Nice beach with good coral reef only 10 meters off beach. Many fishes although not as good or big as hideaway(hideaway fishes were fed by staff and tourists). Good for snorkelling if sea is calm and visibility good.

Disadvantages:
Too far away from town and no free bus transfer to vila. You have to go to the main market or supermarket in vila to get anything. Bus fare one way is 400 vatu per person.
This resort was built around 2000 so a bit run down after so many years. Especially the hot water supply which seems to be a bit of a problem. During our stay of 7 nights there were at least 4-5 units complained about it. It turned out to be the problem of the starter on the gas water heaters which is easy to fix but recurs from time to time. Just let the reception/manager know and they will fix it straight away.

Benjor thanks you for taking the time to give us some positive feedback....as noted the shower issues are well under control so after your early morning swim where you might catch some Dolphins swimming close by, you will be assured of a hot shower....
We are constantly developing our menu and have now added a Tapas menu as well as starting to build a wood fired pizza oven....gastro heaven in Mele Bay.
