Allan, Maggie and Daniel greated us every morning at breakfast in the hut. They assisted us every day on where to go and what to do. The included breakfast- toast, cereal, fruit salad (bananas, paw paw, and grapefruit), tea and coffee and fresh home made yogurt.

We stay in the One bedroom garden room and was really nice. Except the tv was super small and the remote didn't work. But we didn't watch it that much seeing we were out so much enjoying our holiday.

They serve breakfast lunch and dinner in the hut. But lunch and dinner costs extra. They also have happy hour which is from 5pm - 6pm. But even if u don't drink It's a nice time just to sit and chat with the owners and guests. They own a cat too which is really friendly and once spent a night in our room.

It's so much better than the big hotel chains, there are 11 rooms with a capacity of around 30.

They have also just put a heart shaped pool in which is really nice.

They also have free snorkels, flippers and reef shoes. And beach towels.

We were attracted to these apartments by the offer of free car hire provided we booked for at least 7 nights and a complimentary breakfast. The pictures of the exterior of the units which we viewed on a number of booking sites all appeared to be very smart and modern. These units have no apparent connection with similar named holiday accommodation in Australia & New Zealand.

We booked 2 units, a studio with the free car for 9 nights and a 1 bedroom unit for family members who would be only staying 4 or 5 nights. Both units that were offered were spotlessly clean had modern tiled floors, their own small terrace and garden at the rear.

The interior fitments in the studio were very dated. The kitchen was old with well worn cabinets and kitchen sink. Hot water was provided by a gas water heater of Chinese origin which apparently vented the products of combustion into the studio. When using this water heater we made sure that the adjacent window was always open. Our kitchen consisted of a modern large fridge-freezer, a small portable pair of gas rings, a microwave, and electric kettle. The bathroom had a wash basin that had multiple cracks and the shower and WC were also dated. The double bed was of good quality and was comfortable but the 2 adjacent bedside cabinets although serviceable were in poor condition.

The breakfast taken in the adjacent hut consisted of a choice of cereals, seasonal fresh fruit, toast and tea and coffee. If you wanted a cooked breakfast there was a supplement of 1200 Vatu approx AU$12 per person. There was free Wi-Fi but it was very slow and was not suitable for Skype and lasts for 30 minutes only. After the 30 minutes have elapsed you need to log on again for the next free 30 minutes, but you run the risk of losing data if you are working on line. Superfast Wi-Fi was available at a cost of 500 Vatu per 30 minutes.

The free vehicle hire is a micro van which can seat 6 in 3 rows of 2, with lap seat belts which are not suitable for attaching a child seat securely and the last row of seats did not have any seat belts as they are not compulsory in Vanuatu. The vans are of Chinese origin and are basic and appear to be well used. The spare wheel is housed under the van floor but in our van had to be carried inside the van as the nut which held the wheel carrier in place had been lost and had not been replaced. On our van there was no power steering and since the vehicle had small road wheels it needed a considerable amount of effort to park the vehicle in a confined space. But one must remember that the van was free for our stay and this included insurance but with an excess of $AU 3000.

Alan & Maggie are good hosts both are very knowledgeable about the island and Maggie particularly was very helpful. The local staff they employ are excellent, always helpful and greeted you with a smile. They included a security guard who was always in sight of the entrance gate throughout the hours of darkness. The complex (there are 12 units) is about 10 minutes drive away from the centre of Port Vila and does not have a swimming pool although a small heart shaped pool is under construction. The adjacent lagoon, a 5 minute walk across a golf course (if nobody was playing) was not suitable for swimming.

Hi and thank you for such an extremely detailed review and report.

Our 7 night packages that include a Free Car Hire are unbeatable. We can only offer this because we also own Go Vanuatu Car Rental business. We always strive to offer real value for money. Our family owned and operated business is very popular and operates at 80% occupancy all year round.
We are going through some renovations and outside is completed, plus our more upmarket lagoon view one bedroom apartments.
As you noticed, we are not part of the Quest Group in Australia.
There are many Quest Apartments businesses throughout the world and to my knowledge, none are interconnected, except Australia and New Zealand.

We have both 3 star budget and 4 star well appointed apartments. Our budget units that you booked are basic standard units. These have not been updated and are from $75pn, compared to our more upmarket units which are $149pn. Our budget conscious guests who have limited budgets appreciate staying in our better location of Tassiriki in Port Vila and having their base at Quest.
I am sorry to hear our budget units were not to your standard. If you had mentioned anything, we could have relocated you to our renovated apartments. Higher price with better modrn facilities.

Our complimentary breakfast is popular with fresh fruit salad, cereals, white and multigrain toast, jams, Tanna coffee, juices.

Internet has always been a problem in Vanuatu because of being satellite based. Vanuatu has just had a fibre optic submarine cable installed from Fiji to Vanuatu and now we enjoy internet at 50 times the previous speed. Our superfast internet is half the price of other resorts. If you buy a meal at our cafe, you receive a free voucher for Superfast internet.

Our vehicles are made in China and the factory is owned by the Suzuki Corporation. They are 2 years old and are being replaced soon. Vanuatu roads are not the best and take their toll on any vehicles. I am glad you enjoyed our Free Car Hire offer, a saving of $80 per day.
The insurance damage excess is as per most other countries. Only payable if you have an accident. Your standard travel insurance protects you for rental car Damage Excess for $3000. Our vehicles are very economical to run.

Our new swimming pool is a very unique 10m x 10m Heart shaped and will be finished in about 4 weeks. We were hoping to have finished last year, but the cyclone rainy season started early and created many delays for construction work. I look forward to the first swim.

I know you had a difficult stay with us. Travelling with toddler children is not easy. Having ear problems from flights and changes in air pressure is hard for youngsters to understand. You may want to give them a bottle on take off and landing to help equalise their ears.

Our lagoon is suitable for swimming. You do need to wear reef shoes though. Vanuatu is made up of coral islands, so care needs to be taken while swimming.

On our two weeks stay in Vanuatu we got an excellent care from our hosts that made the whole visit very memorable. In Quest Apartments it was more a home-like feeling than just a stay in a hotel. With the valuable tips from Alan and Maggie we were able to find the best attractions and program for us in Vanuatu, those that we wouldn't have found by ourselves.

The possibility for rental car was really nice and Maggie even borrowed us snorkels. It looked like everything we needed was arranged. And the happy hour every evening was lovely!

I would recommend Quest apartments to any one looking for a safe, clean, and wonderful host and hostess, and the staff, most kind and always smiling. Nothing was too much for them.

Breakfast the best. , The happy hour at 5 p.m. .sure was a happy.

Can highly recommend. I stayed there for 2 weeks and enjoyed every day. If you want a home from home, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms have views, and no noise, very quiet at night.
