The good thing about this resort is that I found it via TripAdvisor.com and the reviews were right! It's fantastic! We stayed 2 weeks and were married during the 2nd week. I will write in detail about the wedding, the resort, bringing kids, the staff, etc.

We arranged our wedding (with the help of the awesome Natalie) through Lagoon Beach and it was just the most beautiful day. From the ceremony on the beach to the dazzling feast afterwards, from the champagne on arrival to the team catering to our every need, we were so impressed. The band that sings and dances really added to the occasion, and the little touches like the conch shell and the bride being paddled up the lagoon! Wow! Then there was the splendid feast! Memories that will last us a lifetime. Also, if you are looking for a photographer for your wedding try Angela from Aelan Photography angela@aelanphotography.com as she was wonderful and the end result brilliant.

The vista by the lagoon is gorgeous and the resort feels relaxed. Take a kayak down the lagoon, stroll the grounds, rest in a hammock by the lagoon, sit at a table on the sand and enjoy a wine as you watch the fish jump out of the water, swim in the pool, or wander down to the Beach Bar cafe where you will be looked after by the wonderful team. Kevin (you are a superstar), Alice, Lorna and the crew here are great! Sometimes I'd wander down just for the chat (okay, and maybe for a tusker or 2). I can't emphasise how friendly the team are - they seem like a family as well as a business. The staff are only too happy to challenge you to a game of beach volleyball (Glen, one of the chefs, is very good!). Need a tour arranged? No problem - just contact reception and they see what they can do. Nothing is a problem.

From a practical point of view, the location is perfect (a 2 minute stroll to Korman store for essentials if the Beach Bar doesn't have what you need - check first) and only a short bus trip ($1.15 AU per person - look for a B at the start of a number plate - they come along every 3 minutes or so - cheaper than taxis) to downtown Vila. Price was also very reasonable and little extras that no amount of money can buy were added at no extra cost.

As I shopped around before I left and checked other resorts while in Port Vila (some of which were more expensive and offered less) I can assure you the rates are really, really good. The Beach Bar Cafe's rates for meals and drinks are also very reasonable - as good or better than what we found at most restaurants in Vila and as good or better than any of the other resorts we visited. Tuskers (the local beer - very good) were nearly twice the price at another nearby resort.

The facilities are good, the resort well maintained (the team of gardeners are always keeping the grounds tidy) and your apartment is serviced daily (if you choose). The 2 level (yes there are stairs) apartments are great and we slept 4 people in the first week and 6 (2 kids) in the 2nd week - no problems. They have a washer and dryer, an oven, fridge, pots, pans, 2 tvs and 2 dvd players - everything you need to cook in-house rather than eating out all the time. I recommend this as Port Vila isn't cheap when it comes to meals - this isn't Thailand. They also have a balcony and a great patio area out the back (we played many games of cards here). There is also a kids club which has activities like kayaking and horse riding. Babysitting isn't a problem either (and although we didn't need it the prices were reasonable) and the team are wonderful with kids. This is one place you can let the kids run amok without a care in the world - they are always in good hands here.

Cris, Natalie, Kevin, Alice, Mark, Lorna, George, Glen, Benjamin, Claude and all the wonderful staff of Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments dazzled us like the stars they are. We can't thank them enough and we recommend Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments as the number one resort in Port Vila.

We stayed with our two young children last month, for just over a week, based on tripadvisor reviews. There were aspects we loved (the ease of catching a bus into town, the lovely and helpful staff, the new and tastefully decorated apartments, and the performers at the feast, who were spectacular), but we came away disappointed as a few things we chose this resort for, just weren't there.

Even though our children are pre-school age, and booking during school holidays meant we paid extra on airfares, and missed out on the resort off-peak special (1 night free) for longer stays, we booked during this time because we were told this was when the Kids Club operated. In actual fact, it operates "when the apartments are full and there are enough children". So, only the last 2 days of our stay featured this Kids Club... this was disappointing for us, as the Kids Club was a big factor when we chose a hotel for our stay. The Kids Club dates they gave us were not exact or guaranteed, as we were lead to believe during emails before we booked.

Second, we wished there had been more evening activity. We spent our evenings at the Le Lagon and Meridien resorts, where bars by the pool had lots of patrons, and there was a lively atmosphere. We hoped Lagoon Beach would be a fun casual place to be and mingle with others in the evenings, but we didn't find this to be the case. The 'bar' was simply a place to order meals and collect towels for the pool. But, we did enjoy the social and lively atmosphere at the Melanesian Feast, which was terrific!

We also regularly ate at the Le Lagon (amazing food!) as we found the food at Lagoon Beach very overpriced for what it was. As was the beer. Local beers/most cocktails at the other resorts we visited, including the Iririki with its incredible views/ambience, cost less. This might seem petty, but hubby and I do like our tipples!

Finally, we were there at a bad time in terms of noise... 3 days in a row shortly after we arrived 3 men cut the lawns with whipper-snippers, which started up at 7:15am and ended at around 3:30pm. It was very noisy... with 2 young ones needing daytime naps, and not being able to get them, or to lie in, this made for very grumpy children until the day when the large group of guests arrived, and the noise finally stopped. Over-tired children can affect the whole family's experience! It also made their teetering up the open-staired staircase in the apartment a bit more precarious!

Overall, we did enjoy our stay, but for these reasons, would hesitate to stay again, and would probably choose Le Lagon or the Meridien instead... also because they have a lot of free daytime activities for guests to participate in (other than use of kayaks etc). Perhaps had we not been looking for these specific things (kids club, lively evenings, quiet days etc), we might have enjoyed our stay a little more.

We are a family of four with two teenage boys, we have been to Vanuatu twice before and stayed in a huge resort which we loved but this time with the boys being older we wanted to experience more of the Island, we found when your in the big resort you tend to use all the facilities and not venture out into the island other than one or two of the popular tours. Lagoon beach resort apartments are awesome, we had a fantastic garden overlooking the resort garden with a view of the lagoon, the kitchen we used every day be it to make breakfast lunch or dinner, there is a local supermarket next door that we got our bread from daily (.60 vatu for a large french stick) it didnt have the variety of the big supermarket in town but was great to top up coke bread and peanut butter.
The beach bar and cafe at LBR was great value, we found the food great, as I said two teenage boys, the banana pancakes were the breaky favourite. We used the kyakes every day, the Le Meridian casino was an easy paddle down stream where we paddled down and spent a few hours by there pool and looking around there resort while the boys played a round of golf. We happily paddled back to our apartments pleased we hadnt booked in down there. The buses outside the door were easy to catch, some times a llittle rough, but cheaper than the taxis. We found a fantastic driver that we became friends with and will remain in touch with, his name is Zebadee ph. 7769037. He has the friendliest with the best english, we hired him the first time for a round island tour, he took us around and had info on everything. highly recommend him he is going away to nz in nov but if your there before then look him up and tell him Kim and Mark wrote him up on the internet. I hope your stay here is good as ours, we were there before the holidays, so it was quiet, but there were still other families around we ran into and had lots of chats with, Kevin behind the bar was a treat as was Lorna, the young chef I didnt catch his name was great to have a chat with too, they all make u very welkum and love to talk to the boys as well. Yes we will be back, maybe not next year but 2010 is looking good.

We had an absolutely fabulous time in Port Vila and staying at Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments really made our holiday.
The facilities were fantastic - modern, clean and comfortable, perfectly surrounded by tropical gardens overlooking the lagoon.
There was plenty of room for all four of us and it was great having the option to cook for ourselves or dine at the resort if we didn't feel like going into town.
The local knowledge and advice from Natalie regarding tours, activities and restaurants was invaluable and the friendly, smiling faces of Mark, Alice and Kevin will long be remembered.
We would not hesitate in recommending the resort.
Can't wait for the new bungalows to be finished!
We'll definitely be back.................

I have read the reviews recently on this resort and quite frankly I'm astounded by some of the nonsense people have complained about.
We had an absolutely FAULTLESS stay here in April this year. The airport pick-up was waiting (George is a lovely man!)
The unit was ready and waiting and beautifully decorated with fresh Hibiscus flowers and a welcome drink with young Natalie in our apartment (complimentary) was lovely.
The view from our unit was very serene and very relaxing, everyone of the staff who walked past greeted us warmly, every day!
The restaurant is very good for 3 meals a day if you don't feel like going to town, the lovely Alice presides over the orders and bar mostly, she's a gem.
The building work was under way when we were there and the heavy duty stuff was being done, foundations etc. It never once woke me or kept me from sleeping, the earliest I heard any workmen was about 8am.
The feast night was just great with a BBQ and lap lap etc. And Kava...(an acquired taste, I think.)
The management and staff cannot do enough for you and nothing is any trouble to them, I sometimes feel that when I read negative reviews on this website that those people have brought much upon themselves.
Yes there is Island time...who cares?? I'm on vacation, I'm not in any hurry to do anything.
We have travelled the world and haven't found the peace and relaxation that can be had every day in Vanuatu and especially at this resort.
