Our family of 2 Adults and 2 children aged 8 and 7 stayed at Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments for 6 nights in Sept/Oct. We had an absolutely fantastic time and would return in a heartbeat.

The apartments are a mini home away from home with 99% of the things you would require whilst on holiday and the 1% that was missing didn't really matter anyway. We really couldn't find fault with the apartments at all.

The staff are all absolutely fantastic and as other reviewers have commented - nothing was ever too much trouble and they were always so polite and friendly!

A special thanks needs to go to Annie for looking after our girls like they were her own. Unfortunately we didn't get an opportunity to say thank you or good-bye (as it was her day off when we left)- so thank you very much Annie!

We found the food and drinks available at the Cafe to be reasonably priced (compared to other places) and the cocktails would have to be the cheapest in Vanuatu and a credit to Kevin - the cocktail king!

I have to say that I cannot agree with the comments from a previous reviewer concerning Le Lagon being cheaper for food and drink than Lagoon Beach.

We stayed at Le Lagon for a further 6 nights after leaving Lagoon Beach and found the cocktails to be 200+ vatu dearer for a start! From our experience both the food and drinks were more expensive at Le Lagon.

All in all we met so many wonderful people and had such a great start to our holiday that I couldn't recommend Lagoon Beach highly enough.

PS - Our two girls Kayla and Lauryn say a special "Hi" and "We miss you" to Bianca and Elise and they will email you soon!

Our first impression was far greater than we expected. After being met by Mark at the airport we were taken in the midst of night to our apartment. The apartments were much nicer than I had thought and much larger. They were extremely clean and fresh. All resort staff were happy and friendly, as are all people in Vanuatu - nothing is too much trouble for them, but sometimes, it takes time. This was our 4th trip to Vanuatu and our first stay in apartments. My husband and I arranged with Natalie to renew our wedding vows for our 10th anniversary. Everything was well planned and they looked after us very well. The floral arrangement on the arch at the beach looked fabulous and the ceremony went without a hitch. We have a 10 year old child who is a little fussy when it comes to food - when we did eat at the restaurant they cooked food how he wanted it - you couldn't ask for more than that. All meals were fresh and tasty. We holidayed with friends who had 4 children - the kids had a great time and there was plenty of open space for football, cricket etc. The highlight though, were the afternoon volleyball games with guests, staff and locals. We left some of the staff with some aussie bits/pieces - they were extremely grateful and called them their "memories of australia". Overall, we had the best time, even though I got sick. Our only comment is to make sure you clarify costs of day trips using their bus/driver. Lagoon not favourable for swimming but pool was ok. Recommend highly and can't wait to go back yet again.

I booked this hotel and when I did we occupied another 5 units at the same time for a wedding (see netballbride).

We used previous reviews and they were spot on, this place is fantastic. Chris the owner is very helpful and was her offsider Natalie who was always eager to help. The staff at the resort were all locals and very friendly, we could not fault the service.

We had unit number 3, unfortunately the only thing I could fault was that the wireless ADSL did not work, but, really if you are in Vanuatu to work then you would be staying closer to the centre of Vila. Stay at Lagoon Beach if you want to relax, cook for yourself once in a while and not have the noise of the centre of Vila.

We looked at other resorts and the in room facilities were great at Lagoon Beach, air conditioning, 2 TV's & 2 DVD's, cooking & washing facilities. The units were all new and very well presented.

We had a ball here, you could not go wrong, other members have mentioned the construction noise but that did not bother us and we were in the units right next to the construction, the main stuff is over now and those bungalows will be very nice.

All I can say is go to Lagoon Beach, you will not regret it.

We ventured to Vanuatu for a romantic wedding and we couldn't ask for anything more! As soon as we exited the Airport, the wonderful Natalie was there to meet us to take us to the Resort. Arriving during the day was an extreme eye opener seeing how the locals live.
Our apartment No 1 - was fabulous, with a bottle of champagne and beautiful fresh flowers placed in our room which really set the mood for our entire stay. We had five other apartments occupied with guests for our wedding. The rooms are well maintained and extremely clean, with the option of house keeping daily or just getting fresh towels was also a bonus, the girls even wash your dishes for you which we felt rather guilty for leaving.
The day of the wedding was very well organised again by the wonderful Natalie. We made the final arrangements the day before on flowers, colours for Nakamal etc. A very laid back atmosphere which is just what we were looking for.
The resort planned a massage for myself and bridemaids, booked in our hair and make-up and sent the boys off to relax at Le Meridien. This included transporting me everywhere and the boys.
I arrived by canoe - very safe and comfortable, the beach was decorated with an arch, a marque set up for guests to keep out of the sun and decorated, plenty of chairs for everyone. The string band entertained guests before I arrived and Natalie had set up a stereo so special music could be played for my entrance and the signing.
The Nakamal - a banana leaf hatched roof hut (dining area) was decorated with many native flowers, balloons and the table centre piece of fangipani's - this was all just done without me stressing. And I must say it looked amazing. We were able to play our own music from our Ipod for the night which cut the cost down instead of hiring a band.
The staff - Natalie, Alice, George, Mark and Kevin are just beautiful people - very shy at first but make an effort to have a chat and they will be happy to do anything for you.
One of my bridesmaids made my wedding cake - we went to the supermarket and purchased most items, however we could not find castar sugar. I asked the owner Cris and she was more then willing to help - 20 mins later a knock on my door and there was the castar sugar. At big resorts you just wouldn't get this type of help and service - which I suppose made us love the whole experience of Lagoon Beach.
Very easy to get bus to town as resort is situated off a main road compared to Le Maridien where you have to wait for one to come down their road.
Food is pretty good at the resort - very basic bust when you can't be bothered going out or cooking yourself it is perfect.
Cocktails - are probably the cheapest on the island, very tasty maybe just not as many varieties as some other places.
The best part is that you have your own self-contained apartment so if you want to cook or have your duty free drinks with others you can.
For our honeymoon we were meant to stay in the new honeymoon suite bungalow - unfortunately these weren't quite finished when we arrived so Cris and Natalie had organised an over-water bungalow at Le Meridien at no extra cost which was just fabulous. The water bunglaows will be lovely once finished.

My 12 year old son and I stayed at Lagoon Beach resort last week for 8 nights - what a wonderful holiday. The fact that the resort is a little out of town is a bonus, as "downtown Vila", while interesting, is not Manhattan! Our Unit was lovely, and the full kitchen enabled us to have some meals in. It's a quiet, convenient location, and the staff know lots about what to do in Vanuatu.
In the evenings, you can mix with the others in the lovely gardens or at the little lagoon beach, or just veg out in the apartment.
When I go back, I will be staying there again.

Have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Vanuatu with our two teenage children (a girl 16 yrs and boy 14yrs). Our stay was made even more special by the helpful and friendly staff at Lagoon Beach Resort.

The 2 bedroom apartments have all you could wish for...fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, dryer, hairdryer etc.

There are also many resort facilities including volleyball (a real hit at the end of each day for our chn , other guests and staff who showed much talent!), table tennis, canoes, footballs and beach towels at the pool.

The staff also advised us on some wonderful trips and we can recommend the "Coongoola" day cruise to a turtle sanctuary and then onto a private beach for snorkelling and a yummy BBQ lunch. Also a 2 hour cultural village tour to "Ekasop Village" a very informative and entertaining introduction to the Melanesian way of life.

However, the highlight of the trip was the relaxed and friendly way the staff at LBR related to us and especially our children. So, MANY MANY thanks to all the staff, especially Chris, Natalie George, Kevin, Alice and of course Glen. We hope to return!

The good thing about this resort is that I found it via TripAdvisor.com and the reviews were right! It's fantastic! We stayed 2 weeks and were married during the 2nd week. I will write in detail about the wedding, the resort, bringing kids, the staff, etc.

We arranged our wedding (with the help of the awesome Natalie) through Lagoon Beach and it was just the most beautiful day. From the ceremony on the beach to the dazzling feast afterwards, from the champagne on arrival to the team catering to our every need, we were so impressed. The band that sings and dances really added to the occasion, and the little touches like the conch shell and the bride being paddled up the lagoon! Wow! Then there was the splendid feast! Memories that will last us a lifetime. Also, if you are looking for a photographer for your wedding try Angela from Aelan Photography angela@aelanphotography.com as she was wonderful and the end result brilliant.

The vista by the lagoon is gorgeous and the resort feels relaxed. Take a kayak down the lagoon, stroll the grounds, rest in a hammock by the lagoon, sit at a table on the sand and enjoy a wine as you watch the fish jump out of the water, swim in the pool, or wander down to the Beach Bar cafe where you will be looked after by the wonderful team. Kevin (you are a superstar), Alice, Lorna and the crew here are great! Sometimes I'd wander down just for the chat (okay, and maybe for a tusker or 2). I can't emphasise how friendly the team are - they seem like a family as well as a business. The staff are only too happy to challenge you to a game of beach volleyball (Glen, one of the chefs, is very good!). Need a tour arranged? No problem - just contact reception and they see what they can do. Nothing is a problem.

From a practical point of view, the location is perfect (a 2 minute stroll to Korman store for essentials if the Beach Bar doesn't have what you need - check first) and only a short bus trip ($1.15 AU per person - look for a B at the start of a number plate - they come along every 3 minutes or so - cheaper than taxis) to downtown Vila. Price was also very reasonable and little extras that no amount of money can buy were added at no extra cost.

As I shopped around before I left and checked other resorts while in Port Vila (some of which were more expensive and offered less) I can assure you the rates are really, really good. The Beach Bar Cafe's rates for meals and drinks are also very reasonable - as good or better than what we found at most restaurants in Vila and as good or better than any of the other resorts we visited. Tuskers (the local beer - very good) were nearly twice the price at another nearby resort.

The facilities are good, the resort well maintained (the team of gardeners are always keeping the grounds tidy) and your apartment is serviced daily (if you choose). The 2 level (yes there are stairs) apartments are great and we slept 4 people in the first week and 6 (2 kids) in the 2nd week - no problems. They have a washer and dryer, an oven, fridge, pots, pans, 2 tvs and 2 dvd players - everything you need to cook in-house rather than eating out all the time. I recommend this as Port Vila isn't cheap when it comes to meals - this isn't Thailand. They also have a balcony and a great patio area out the back (we played many games of cards here). There is also a kids club which has activities like kayaking and horse riding. Babysitting isn't a problem either (and although we didn't need it the prices were reasonable) and the team are wonderful with kids. This is one place you can let the kids run amok without a care in the world - they are always in good hands here.

Cris, Natalie, Kevin, Alice, Mark, Lorna, George, Glen, Benjamin, Claude and all the wonderful staff of Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments dazzled us like the stars they are. We can't thank them enough and we recommend Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments as the number one resort in Port Vila.
