“Pretty good but slightly overrated”
Reviewed 5 January 2010

In a nutshell, I agree with what have been said in the previous posts; the apartments are well equipped, the grounds are SPOTLESS!!!, the place is peaceful, friendly and unpretentious. (and great for kids).

My comments are listed below:

The restaurant is significantly overpriced compared to the prices of boutique resorts (eg. The Havanna, The breakas beach resort).

I support the comments about the airport transfer fee. (a rip off compared to the fee charge by any local driver)

The fruit punches from the café are delicious and reasonably priced. On the other hand, the coffee is disgusting and a waste of money.

The pool is small but no real issues (only one sun umbrella though)

The lagoon is better for kayaking than swimming

There is an opportunity to improve the cleanliness of the apartments; nothing major but the cleaning is not spotless; the towels are pretty average and we could not have tea as the kettle was simply disgusting

We have just returned from our third trip to Lagoon Beach with our four kids and had another wonderful ten days. This is one of our favorite places in the world. There is nowhere else quite like it where you are part of the family and feel at home straight away.Lagoon Beach is a little piece of paradise just far enough from Vila. The apartments are always spotless and nothing is ever a problem. The lagoon is picture perfect, the grounds are delightful and the Lagoon Beach family are all warm and welcoming. The coconut kindy kids are always a joy and our kids are happy to spend all their time with them.Children are really free to roam here,it is such a safe environment and everyone knows who they are.We also find it hard to go anywhere else for a feed as the food is always delicious, well priced and plentiful-some of the best in Port Vila.We will continue to return every chance we get. This is just a perfect spot for a family holiday.

This was a fantastic spot to see Efate from. My mother and two daughters age 3 and 6 stayed 7 nights. We hired a car to get around and could park at our front door. It was quiet and peaceful even with the children playing. The kids loved the lagoon with starfish, hermet crabs and little fish to feed. We checked out other resorts like Paradise Cove and Irriki and LeLegon but this was the best by far . Smaller more personal and you had the feeling you were in another country not like the big resorts. The only faults i had was the DVD player in our room did'nt work and the stove top exploded on me while I was cooking tea. The meals were excellent at the restaurant and I was lucky enough to have the coconut crab. We brought fresh fruit and vegie from the market in town and cooked most nights in the apartment. Everything you need there for a great holiday. Would reccomend it to anyone and stay again.

My Husband and I looked at just about every accommodation availabe in port vila and decided to stay at lagoon beach after friends living in vanuatu highly reccommended it. I really wanted to stay on the beachfront but after looking at a lot of different places while we were there, there isn't many places that have great beach front access and that are close to town beside breakas which doesn't allow children to use pool or restaurant. The beach area on the lagoon was nice and relaxing and not many people around, most days we had it to ourselves. The play area for children is fantastic, one of the best in all port vila as there is even small playgroups that meet there some days of the week. Our 19month old daughter loved it and the apartments had easy access to the gardens outside so she was kept occupied while we could relax close by.
The apartments themselves were very nice, Rooms 1-4 had the best lagoon view.
Overall we were very happy with our stay and would definately stay there again.

Lagoon Beach Resort is true, heaven on earth, we have travelled a lot, and I cannot compare any other place around theasia/pacific region that we have travelled with that of Lagoon Beach Resort, it was the best holiday we have ever had, not only the Resort itself, but the people there, they all treated you like family. Chris and George and their families, and not just immediate family but their extended families. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartments, which were absolutely gorgeous, and what Chris has done with them is magic. We chose Lagoon Beach Resort, due to 1 allowing children under 15 and also fully self contained with eveything including a washing machine and dryer which when you have a family of 5 makes a world of difference. Lagoon Beach Resort was also one of the only ones that was very affordable for our time there. My husband and I also renewed our wedding vows there, and it was a dream come true. Natalie was great in organising it all for us and she also did my daughters' and my hair which was great and looked great. On the day of the "wedding" the beach was all done up with frangipanis, in a heart shape and an archway was made up of palms, and flowers just beautiful, then my daughter and I were rowed in on a canoe being rowed by a gentlemen in traditional dress and we were greeted and walked over to the archway where our family was and the Pastor was just terrific and then after the ceremony were treated to drinks and nibblies. I can't express enough on what a wonderful job they did as well as the way we were all treated. It was beautiful to wake up every morning to the lagoon and the sound of all the birds and of course the jetty, we did quite a lot of fishing and caught quite a lot as well, and as we come from the NT we didn't have to worry about crocodiles which was an extra bonus. Our three children, 10, 12, and 14 had the best time, it was so set up for children of all ages, the flying fox in the play ground was one of their favourites but also the beach voleey ball, was another great time to be had by them as well as playing with the pikininis in the preschool that Chris has set up for the local children they loved going and playing with the children and helping Annie. The other children that lived there as well played with my kids which was great I can honestly say that I was never worried about their safety at all, it is such a safe place there and everyone there smiles and greets you and welcoming. We can't wait for our next holiday there and catching up with everyone, and I just want to thankyou to all at Lagoon Beach Resort that you all gave my family the most beautiful holiday and great memories for ever to treasure. Thankyou for everthing

We stayed at Lagoon Beach Resort in the deluxe waterfront self contained bungalow for 5 nights during November. We arrived earlier than the usual check in time, but were shown to our bungalow straight away. The bungalow is right on the water, and when the tide comes in the water laps around the deck area. The bungalow is fully self contained, with full kitchen and laundry facilities. I certainly put the washing machine to good use after being on Oyster Island for 5 days. The bungalow has everything you need including a TV, spa bath, king size bed, cooking facilities and an outdoor shower. Hubby fished from our deck every night, while I relaxed with a drink and a book. You can eat at the restaurant or have meals delivered to your bungalow and eat on the deck. It was nice to be able to cook a meal for ourselves and just relax with the TV on. We spent most of our days out and about and only had 1 meal in the restaurant, which was when we arrived. The food is very well priced and plentiful, we had the curry one night (about 1350 vatu), and asked for the spicy version - very hot, but good! If you are looking for a great base while you are in Vila, I thoroughly recommend Lagoon Beach, especially if you want to do self catering. It is great for families, with a pool, volleyball, playground and kayaks available. A couple of weddings also happened while we were staying. The only thing I would like to comment on is the towels - they were quite old loooking, but apart from that it was a great stay with all the creature comforts of home.

WOW! We truely hit the jackpot in staying at Lagoon Beach Resort! Cris, her family and her wonderful staff made our wedding and holiday the best ever. Our wedding in particular was organised with ease over the internet from Perth to Vanuatu. I had no idea what to expect but our wedding day was soooo wonderful that it exceeded all of our expectations. It was perfect in everyway - so much so, we would like to get remarried ever year if we could at Lagoon Beach Resort!!! We would like to thank Cris and all the staff from the very bottom of our hearts for helping us create beautiful, lifelong memories of a perfect wedding day.
Now that was just the wedding!!! We also had 2 weeks of a blissful holiday with our young children Lola and Max and also 25 family and friends. What an amazing place for children with the fantastic playground, local 'Coconut Kindy' and safe lagoon. We could only get the children back in for showers and bed only because it went dark!! We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartments - comfy big king size beds, self contained and all with a great view of the lagoon. We also stayed in the garden view bungalow - very plush and romantic!!
We travelled to Irriki for 4 nights for a 'honeymoon' without the kids - but we couldn't wait to return to Lagoon Beach Resort - it was like we were returning 'home'. We were welcomed back with big smiles, cuddles and with the greeting of 'welcome home' by all staff! What an amazing privelledge is was to feel a part of the Lagoon Beach Family. We miss you all so much already and are planning our next trip over soon.
Highly recommended with or without children. A perfect boutique resort in everyway!

Lana and Eddie Tan, Perth WA Australia.
