Lovely hotel

Review of Hotel G Yangon
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Mar 2020
Excellent location. Right behind the hotel you have plenty of shops, eateries, money changer and everything you need. Shwedagon Pagoda is just a 15 mins walk from the hotel. Clean room. Very good breakfast option and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. They deserve a compliment.

Super chic and fun vibe. Staff Thac and Kaye Dan Oo are nice & helpful from the moment we walked in, very tired from flight cancellations. Room is lovely, quiet and so modern I don’t feel like I’m in an old city. About to have ice cream in the bar. Can’t wait to explore this city!

Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the variety of the menu whether breakfast , executive lunches or in evenings.Relaxed friendly atmosphere in bar and lobby area and free access to a commercial gym occupying whole of first floor a definite plus. All the hotel staff were really welcoming and kind. Colleen at the front desk were professional ! Everything was perfect and will definitely choose this hotel during my next visit.

Hotel G is stylish, affordable and well located with many of the attractions a short walk or Grab ride away. The hotel offers cozy communal spaces and a gym. Babette is the hotel’s lively restaurant and bar area with a delicious food and drinks menu. The bar seems popular with the expat and local community. The staff are fantastic and consistent in providing a great guest experience.

We stayed at this hotel when we first arrived at Yangon. Its location is ideal as It’s walkable to all the tourist destinations - Sule pagoda is 30mins walk - Bogyoke market is 15 min walk and the central train & bus station station is literally 5/6 mins walk across the road if you fancy venturing on the Yangon Circular train - so it ticks all the boxes for practicality - The hotel is clean and functional as with most western standard hotels in Yangon but the rooms are very snug - a 2 night stay is enough unless you can reserve a bigger room
The bar & restaurant are situated in the check in lobby and is very popular with the ex pats in the evening - music blaring and people socialising - it’s an ex pats local - as it has a big french presence - the menu is extensive and the food is good and so is the wine - it’s a hotel home from home - would I stay here again- I doubt it - as we then went on to stay around Myanmar in more traditional hotels and found them cheaper with bigger rooms with better facilities- but I would return to Hotel G just for a glass of chilled wine

Hotel G is a comfortable, relaxed and friendly place to stay. 'Good' rooms are snug but well organised for maximum use of space. Next time I may pay a bit more for the elbow room of a 'great' room, but there were not any available when I booked. Babbett bar seems to be an expat favourite at the moment, so often we were able to have meetings there. At times it is a bit loud with music, but otherwise a good atmosphere - pizza is recommended - also ceasar salad. Use of the very nice gym is also included in the room rate, which was nice for being in a city where walking is not such a great option. Breakfast is very generous with a hot egg or pancake/waffle option. Coffee is not so good, but you can buy a cappuccino at the bar and the baristas make lovely coffees. . .
