“Good staff, bad hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

We stayed at this Hotel just for one night as it is close to the airport.

We took the rooms close to the reception.

They need urgently to do remodeling, reforming, refurbish, etc, etc, in rooms and bathrooms.

The restaurant is open 24 hours a day.

The reception staff is very helpfull and professional , but all the other staff was iqually very nice.

This hotel is located a few minutes taxi ride (1500-2000 kyats) from Yangon Airport. It is perfect for a transit stop where you don't have time or do not wish to visit the downtown area or suburbs. A taxi ride to the downtown area will run 7000 kyat.

Otherwise it's an average older-style hotel that's a bit on the expensive side for what's on offer. You are paying for the location. The rooms are clean, tidy, and quiet but ordinary. The bathroom was clean enough. Hot running water worked fine in my bungalow-style room.

The breakfast was a bit ordinary, heavy on the vegetables, light on the options. The restaurant is in the basement of one of the buildings. There is a pool that looks clean but with the chilly weather in December I was not going in. Wifi worked in fits and starts and was not reliable.

I found the service just passable. Plenty of staff on the desk but there are two reception counters and when I had a problem with the wifi I was sent from one counter to the other which entailed a walk across the property.

You definitely get the feel it's a stop and go for most travellers with a constant stream of taxis and buses loaded full of people entering or leaving the place. I'd suggest it's ok for an overnight stay but if you have any business at all to do in town there are better places on offer.

You can't get closer to the airport than this hotel and there's really no other reason to stay here...

The room was adequate but bland. The staff were friendly and arranged a breakfast box which was a dodgy sandwich and boiled egg.

Dinner was in the basement (bizarre) but the food was actually ok. There's really no other close options - so they had a captive audience.

But yes, it's close to the airport - walking distance for sure. US$2 taxi back at 5am - easy.

And we walked to the Yangon Circular Railway and took a leisurely train into town for a dollar - great experience but don't expect to train back late as the last train is around 4.30pm.

I had previously stayed at this hotel. This is an older property. Its one redeeming feature is its proximity to the airport. The first time I stayed, I had a nice clean room with decent furniture. On my second stay, I was given a much different room that cost more but had water stains, pain peeling off the walls and a generally musty, unkempt feel to it. The building I was put in was really old and it showed in the furniture, bed, armchairs. I was scared to hang any clothing in the closet as it was very dusty and dirty. I felt very let down. I am not going to go back this dump - ever!!!!

We stayed here for two separate nights last week as we had a late flight arriving in Yangon and then an early morning domestic flight later in the week. As a convenient option near the airport, it was great. Simple, clean rooms, nice grounds and a good breakfast. The internet connection was very slow, but it's Myanmar. What really made it a pleasant stay was the staff -- they were lovely and very helpful.

For the cost ($80), I definitely wasn't blown away with my stay, though I can't say anything terrible about it either. It's clean and has A/C and has a lot of staff on hand, though they don't seem to do much. I was thrown off when they charged me $1 for a map...then printed out a receipt for me. Hey, it's Myanmar. Only stay here if you want to be close to the airport for an early flight out. The city is about 1 hr drive away, and the airport about 2 minute drive or 20 minute walk.

If you're looking for a place near the airport to crash for the night, then this place will do just fine. The rooms are clean and large and the staff is pleasant. Room rates are something like $80-110 a night if I recall. Anyways, I'll hop right into things:
THE GOOD:
-Rooms: Clean, large, nice overall and spread out
-Staff: Nice and friendly
-Dinner: Good food, quick service
-The Grounds: Spacious, clean and has a pool, etc

THE MEDIOCRE:
-Breakfast: If you're a westerner, the choices for breakfast are very limited. I hope you like toast! ;)
-Location: It's 10 minutes from the airport, but there is nothing near the hotel if you are hoping to wander through a market or see a temple, etc

THE BAD:
-Internet: It's free, but in both rooms I was at, the signal was very shoddy and hard to connect to. Even in the main lobby when I was connected, the connection was very, very slow. I mean, like dial-up internet slow, there's no chance of using Skype, etc

SUMMARY:
-If you're crashing for the night on your way to somewhere else, this will do you just fine. If you're going to be staying for a while, it's still a great choice as long as you don't mind the near lack of internet for communication with the outside world.
