It's a challenge to review a hotel in a country where very few people will ever sleep in an air-conditioned room or take a hot shower.
That being said, I'll put my thoughts out there...
I stayed a week in one of the "basic" rooms in the main building. The room was simply furnished: wooden floors, two twin beds, wooden furniture. The bed was a bit on the firm side but OK. The bathrooms are OK, it was a little hard to adjust the temp of the shower and the shower head was quite low - if you are tall you are going to have a struggle to wash your hair. Towels and sheets are scratchy.
There is a fridge and some beverages inside for sale, plus free water every day. The AC is good but only runs when you are in the room.
Breakfast includes traditional Asian breakfast, omelets made to order, toast and cereal for the Americans.
Ice is available in the restaurant for $1 a bucket.
Internet is frustrating - but this is probably more of an infrastructure problem. The only time you can get a decent signal is in the middle of the night.
The saltwater pool is wonderful.
There is a fair bit of noise from outside - take earplugs.
Overall, the service is enthusiastic even if they sometimes seemed to not quite understand the expectations of westerners.
