“Clean, comfortable, and good value.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2011

Good solid, clean and comfortable accommodation in a quiet area of Yangon. 15-minute rather pleasant walk to Shwedagon Paya, and close to a few excellent restaurants (try Thai Kitchen, or Sabi Sabi Thai). 2,000 kyat taxi ride will get you to most other sites. Room was rather charmless, but was comfortable and good value-for-money. Breakfast was adequate, although they charge you 500 kyats for extra cups of coffee beyond your first!

Hotel will change money, but at a somewhat less favourable rate than you can get elsewhere. At the time we were there, Winner was giving us 800 kyat to the dollar, but 850 was easy to get elsewhere, eg Summer Park Inn or Aung San Bogyoke Market.

We stayed for our second time in Yangon for one nite. Its off the town a bit though it is in a nice neighbourhood there are some nice restaurants around and you can walk to Shwedagon Paya and possibly to Inya Lake. Payment in kyat is not recommended they give a bad rate.

The Winner Hotel is situated slightly out of the city centre in a quiet location. It is a relatively small hotel that offers a reasonable standard of accommodation. Rooms are well equipped and there is satellite TV in bedrooms. The superior rooms at $30 are better value than the slightly larger corner rooms at $35. The hotel arranges airport pick-up for $10 which after a long journey was very welcome. The staff are also happy to arrange taxis form the hotel.

The hotel restaurant offers a basic menu, but can be bettered elsewhere. There are rastaurants within a few minutes walk.

The room we had (Junior Suite) was a bit old and smelt old. If you do decide to stay at Winner Inn, please don't forget your towels and toothpaste and toothbrush and shampoo. It is, of course, walking distance to the Shwedagon Pagoda but it's one loong walk we had to make to get there. 20 minutes, give or take. And if you're walking at night, do be careful of the holes in the pavements because the streets are not that particularly well lit, as well as the speeding taxis. But Yangon itself is fabulous, really!

Thank you for your review. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We have added 22 new Deluxe rooms and are in the process of renovating the old rooms which will be completed by October 2014. We also provide bath towels, toothpaste, tooth brush, shower gels now. The government has fixed the pavements on the road from Winner Inn to Shwedagon Pagoda just in time for the 2013 South East Asian Games. Thank you again for your review because this will help us improve to serve you better in the future.

This room was booked for us by our driver on the last night of our tour. It was very cheap and had beautiful food, fast internet, nice staff, comfortable bed and hot water!

I would strongly recommended this place to anyone who is travelling on a budget and doesn't require a 5 star experience.

Stayed for one night . This is a nice property outside the downtown core so if you are looking for the hustle of Bogyoke Aung San Rd.This will be out of the way . Taxi from downtown was 2500 Kyats . The room was $30 with breakfast
There are 3 computers adjacent to front desk for on-line access . [ small charge for use] The hotel is close to Shwedagon but a long walk so taxi for 1500 Kyats likely best option. For Dinner Cafe Dibar an Italian place is a mile down the road .. 1000 Kyats for taxi ..

www.winnerinnmyanmar.com

This is an older hotel in an isolated location north of Shwedagon Paya. It has paid internet service, a good on site restaurant and large rooms. It has no elevator. I had problems with a super picky desk clerk over payment. I had to show her five or six different $20 bills before one was accepted for payment (a problem endemic in many parts of Myanmar). The hotel is badly in need of remodeling.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We have added 22 new Deluxe rooms and are in the process of renovating the old rooms which will be completed by October 2014. We added an elevator to service all seven floors. We apologize for the desk clerk being picky because Myanmar banks do not allow the public (and businesses) to deposit worn US dollar notes into the banks. We have also added complimentary buffet breakfast and remodeled our garden so you can enjoy your meals there as well. Thank you again for your review because this will help us improve to serve you better in the future.
