Despite the excellent reviews, I found this visit to be really average. Everyone's different, I guess.

The Shwedagon is an beautiful sprawling complex of pagodas with countless statues of Buddha, and a definite must visit when in Yangon. The main pagoda is made from real gold and all sorts of gems including diamonds, emeralds and rubies.

The pagoda is so massive that it can be seen from most of Yangon. The pagoda is breathtaking at night when it is lit up from all sides and the true shine of all the gold and gems sparkle. There is a particular spot where the main gem at the top, can be seen in different colours. It looks absolutely magical!

There are also corners for the days of the week where you seek blessings, which correspond to the day you were born on. So if you were born on a Friday, you seek blessings at the Friday corner. Even if you are not Buddhist, its a lovely ritual.

Most interesting place to visit in Yangon is this pagoda , it has been builed 2,500 years ago use 40,000of gold leaf or about 8 ton of gold , on the top of Pagada have got jewelries jamestones 2,000 karats , underneath of pagoda have gots 8 Hairs of the load of Buddha. This pagoda is the biggest in Asia or maybe in the world . Suggestion : walk by clockwise, go there at the evening or late afternoon to catch the sun set also it will be less hot especially you have to take your shoes off, bring a plastic bag for carry your shoes around in case you don't want to remember which door that you have to get back to find your shoes :) there is so many entrances and so many exits.

Beautiful, interesting, worth the money. A few "guides" trying to offer their services in the usual way but still really nice.
