Good place to stay, if you fly away

Review of Hotel Yangon
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 9 Aug 2017
We took this hotel, because it is close to the airport, ten minutes drive. It is not the newest (old furniture), but the rooms were clean and the food was not too bad. The staff was very friendly and helped us with our big luggage.

Booked this hotel because close to the convention center , its a bit aged to be honest but the staff are really nice and do their best , breakfast buffet is simple but offers lot of choices. Room very simple , bed a bit hard , bathroom is dated also. But this is yangon and price is ok.

I stayed at this hotel for my last night in Myanmar because it is close to the airport and the reviews were good. I was reasonably happy with my stay, but unfortunately, the Yangon atmosphere is somewhat tired and in need of an update. Sadly, I believe that it is living on its past glory and really needs some attention to make it shine again.

I had a room on the fifth floor, but on the western side and it fronted Pyay Rd and the western afternoon sun. However, the room was large and had a beautiful parquetry floor. Sadly, the room was very dark and needs more artificial lighting. The room was lit by one wall light and only two bed lamps which made it impossible to read. Also there was insufficient power outlets.

The bathroom also needs attention. There was an old floor leak from the room above which needs attention.

The grand foyer also is in need of uplifting. The dining room is long outdated and some of the chairs are in need of repair. Staff were helpful, but dining room staff need to pay more attention to clients needs and keep their conversations quieter.

Room tip: Not the western rooms

Hotel is located in junction of 8 miles and two main roads leading to airport and downtown. It is just 5 to 10 minutes drive to airport. Rate are reasonable and plenty of car parking spaces. There are nearby eateries and supermarket which make it convenient for guests.

we needed a hotel near the airport and landed in Hotel Yangon.
it is a big, old fashion and impersonal hotel...may be made for chinese groups..not individuals.Hotel with no character
Hotel has a large loby and large empty places next to elevators.
no tea, coffee in the rooms.
We found it very expensive after staying in the Vintage yacht of Yangon for half the price and much better service and character hotel.

Room tip: back rooms might be less noisy

We stayed one night at Hotel Yangon. We chose executive suite as we wanted a bathtub in the bathroom. The room looked old but clean and big room, and we enjoyed buffet breakfast. But their service was below our expectation.. I passed my phone to show our booking and the front staff didn't return my phone till we reached our room. There was no porter when we checked in so we had to carry all our luggage. We don't think we will stay this hotel again in Yangon.
