I stayed at this hotel for my last night in Myanmar because it is close to the airport and the reviews were good. I was reasonably happy with my stay, but unfortunately, the Yangon atmosphere is somewhat tired and in need of an update. Sadly, I believe that it is living on its past glory and really needs some attention to make it shine again.
I had a room on the fifth floor, but on the western side and it fronted Pyay Rd and the western afternoon sun. However, the room was large and had a beautiful parquetry floor. Sadly, the room was very dark and needs more artificial lighting. The room was lit by one wall light and only two bed lamps which made it impossible to read. Also there was insufficient power outlets.
The bathroom also needs attention. There was an old floor leak from the room above which needs attention.
The grand foyer also is in need of uplifting. The dining room is long outdated and some of the chairs are in need of repair. Staff were helpful, but dining room staff need to pay more attention to clients needs and keep their conversations quieter.
