Good location to get started in the centre of the city. Modern hotel in the middle of the mayhem.

Convenient location, tasty breakfast, nice bed, clean room, good service, modern comforts - a fairly good value for the price. Everything is great except for the strangely designed bathroom/toilet cubicle next to the bed that didn't have doors. The bathroom didn't drain water very well and pools of water gathered under our bed after every shower. Very annoying. The hotel is still new now but we presume this design will pose many problems for the rooms in the near future.

Room Tip: Go for higher rooms with window. Our lower-floor room had a window facing another building and was a...

The hotel is well located for the sites, markets etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is not huge but big enough and the bed the best I slept in in Myanmar by far, good bed linen. The shower was excellent though it is true that the open lavatory is a bit strange. I guess as I was on my own it was more acceptable than if I had been sharing with someone. There is free wivi and a free computer to use. The breakfast was good. I would definitely stay here again, it is good value

We have stayed here for two nights at the end of our trip. This hotel is very well located, within walking distance to almost everything. Room is clean though small, with wifi and flat tv with international channels. The downside is open toilet and shower, without hairdryer and mini-bar. Breakfast is good with lots of choices. With this price range,it is good option in the city center.

This is a newish hotel, established circa February 2011)so the rooms are clean and tidy, western standard. The double rooms quite decent in size, and the bed and linen are very clean and comfortable. The staff are also v.friendly and helpful.

The hotel has a cafe on the ground floor which serves b/fast, lunch and dinner, with a selection of western and Asian foods. There is no hotel bar, though I think you can order beer and basic spirits from the cafe. But it is directly across the road from Traders Hotel so, if alcoholic bev carvings can be satisfied by crossing Sule Pogoda Rd.

The only downside about this hotel/rooms is that the toilet and shower (2 separate rooms) do not have doors, but rather just shower screens instead. So whist this may be ok for couples, it's still a little awkward! But if you have visitors, then it is VERY awkward and inappropriate.

The hotel provides free wifi, which is pretty reliable, and is available in the rooms, not just in certain areas. There is also a computer (free of charge) in the reception area if the wifi drops outs.

A clean and bright hotel in yangon, a start contrast to most of the building in the area, Rook with out partition give a airy feeling to the room, that are well equipped. Centrally located, where great local food ( in China town or indian), night market and the famous Boyoke Au san market are all withing walking distance.

I normally stay at Traders Hotel, but on this Jan 2012 trip stayed at both Parkroyal and East Hotel. On arrival at the airport, most taxi drivers already know of the East Hotel, and if they don't just tell them it is opposite Traders. It appears they are trying to get US$8 for a taxi trip from the airport to the hotel, but the "normal" price is still $7. The best exchange rate we could get this trip was 860 Kyats/US$1. Anyway, about the Hotel! The location is great, within walking distance of Sule Pagoda and Scott Market. I'd suggest you get a taxi to the Shwedagon, tho ($2-3). The ground floor comprises reception and dining area, and is all modern and quite efficient. The folk at Reception are helpful and accommodating (sic). The lift is quite tiny, so tour groups may need several trips. I seem to recall about 9 floors. We stayed on the 3rd floor. The rooms are fairly small, but modern and comfortable, with tea-making facilities, shower (no bath), and security-card access. The bathroom/toilet area is separated from the sleeping area by partitioning and blinds, but is otherwise open to the rest of the room, so be sure to share the room with someone close and/or liberal-minded. Good aircon, large-screen TV, free WIFI (code on room key), and comfy beds make the place hospitable. Only 2 people per room tho, and if you are a family with children, you'll need another room. We had sleeping bags for the kids but no extra beds, and the floors are tiled, so not a goer. Road noise was negligible, and we all slept well. Breakfast was included in the room tariff, and was OK, but not spectacular (ABF: eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, cereal (muesli swimming in an ocean of warm milk), coffee/tea, juice, 3 fresh fruit). Burmese and Chinese set breakfasts also available. The staff were helpful, and the few inherent language problems (they speak limited English) were overcome easily. The staff will organize a taxi to the airport on departure (another $7). Tipping is optional, but appreciated. The design of the rooms (especially the bathroom) suggests they will show wear and tear quickly, so suggest you stay there sooner than later.

Room Tip: Would suggest a high floor, but we stayed on the 3rd floor and it was fine. The lift is slow and tin...
