I only visited 3 hotels in Yangon and with a huge influx of of visitors there will be supply problems for a while as well as bringing standards up to what people from over parts of the world expect. I stayed one night in the East. Bed was fine for a night and shower going really hot or cold is all part of the fun. From a few of the floors you can search and connect to a few wifi networks without a code so didn't need it in the reception. I didn't eat in the restaurant as I didn't want to pay for something I can eat back in Europe for over the top prices in US dollars. Just turn left out of the hotel 5O metres past the cinema and police station and there 2 little places you can sit outside in the Yangon evening heat and eat for a few dollars (not Gordon Ramsey food but getting in with the locals) and at least it had some spice. Across the road from the east go and have a look in the famous traders hotel. There's a great old English style bar upstairs with billiard table and lovely old Chesterton armchairs so you can really relax and if you need some western fare you can buy fish and chips for US16. A good choice given the competition currently in Yangon in the price range.

We stayed at the hotel as a couple and we happy with our choice. The locaction cannot be beat. Walking distance to the old colonial buildings and Strand, Scotts Market, Sule Pagoda etc. The room was fine and included breakfast. It is located next to a movie theater and if you have time to spare you can pop in. Walk to the over bridge for pedestrians and take great night shots of the Sule pagoda.
We were in Room 603 and this had a window that let you look out. Later in our next stay we were in 303 and looked into a wall of the next building. So chose a higher floor. there was an elevator and free internet access. The staff are wonderful and ever smiling. the restaurant only serves breakfast but there are places to eat close by. The hot water in the shower runs out if you shower after 8 PM or so, but being a tropical city it did not bother us to use cold water. The shower also has a clear glass wall with some sort of blinds covering it so it might invade your privacy of you are a shy type.

Room Tip: Select floor 6 for a sort of view from your room.

I stayed there in Dec. for 2 nights. The hotel is newly open , so everything is clean and quite modern compare to the Myanmar general standard . It is located in the good location , which in a walking dustance to Sule Pagoda, park ,the merchant street and oppoisite to the Trader hotel and 10 mins walk to the Scott market . The staff are nice and helpful ,but a bit slow response. The hotel provides free water , English newspaper, and internet at the lobby and wi -fi in the room ( wifi is not really a good signal). Breakfast is not many choice of menu but it is ok, I personally like the Chinese set. What I do not like in this hotel is there is no bathroom door ! I feel awarkard to use it when the travel mate is still in the room. Generally I like this little hotel, if I come back to Yangoon again I will comeback again.

Great location in town. Absolutely spotless and great staff. Felt however that this place had been decorated by the same people who do Vibe hotels in Australia - neat but to me not a place that spoke difference. Also there was no door on the toilet in the room, just a sort of bead curtain. Seemed as though they had made three rooms out of two. Still not a bad joint. I wouldn't avoid it but would wonder if there is better.

The hotel was clean with polite, friendly staff. My room was modern, pleasant and comfortable. Good central location. Only a short walk to train station and the Bogyoke Aung San markets and other street markets. Several smaller Pagodas and the La Pyat Wun Plaza mall are near along with cinemas, and Hitachi Tower (view city skyline but you need have a meal at the restaurant). Overall, very satisfied with my choice.

I stayed here last night so things are still fresh in my memory! The location is excellent, being in the main "down town" area. The staff are polite and knowledgeable of the area, and least some speak English, French or German. The beds are comfortable and the linen clean. Now the negatives: no view from my room apart from a bordered up window. Light streaming into my room all night from the outside hallway due to a window facing this way with inadequate blockout curtains. Lots of noise coming from adjoining rooms, could hear next rooms shower on and it was quite loud, as were the electronic beepers everytime someone opened their room. Open bathroom in room with smelly drains. Strong smell of salt damp thoughout my room and reception area. Lots of mosquitos in my room despite not having a window to the outside world. I certainly wouldn't stay here again, although for the price maybe this standard is ok.

East has a good central location and fairly smart rooms, with very comfortable beds. Yes the toilet, shower thing is not what westerners are used to , but you will find this configuration, style extensively in China. Breakfast was a la carte but they brought anything we asked for and the wait staff were lovely. Reception was sharp and knowledgeable. Would recommend it.
