I stayed here on three occasions (2 nights, 1 night, 2 nights) and each time found this to be an extremely good choice in Yangon. Now given that this is Myanmar, there are a few quirks that some may consider unacceptable in more "developed" countries, however, they are to be expected here and even though these are noted, they didn't adversely effect my rating scores.

Firstly, staff here are excellent, always courteous and ever helpful. There is a storage area downstairs for valuable items, which you can sign in or out from one of the lockers behind reception. However, ensure you have your own lock on hand. I travelled to Golden Rock for one evening, and the hotel had a luggage storage facility so we could travel without being overly burdened by baggage.

Rooms were very clean with a modest selection of TV channels, and the bed provides a comfortable night's sleep. Free bottled water is provided every day. The bathroom is large and clean, but I seem to recall that it can take some time for the hot water to fully flow. Note that there are eight rooms on each of the floors, and I believe that the floors follow a similar design. I found that the rooms ending in "02" (i.e. 702) to be the most spacious. However, none of my rooms overlooked Shwedagon Pagoda. Furthermore, being on the 7th floor does attract some noise from the 8th floor restaurant. Likewise, being on the lowest floor is close to the generator which is noisy when in operation, so try to aim for somewhere in the middle floors.

There is a free wifi but its signal is weak when operating in the lobby (which is where it is supposed to be at its most powerful) and it is a slow connection. However, it is handy for checking emails in an emergency. There is also a business centre, but I did not utilise it. Power outages are not uncommon in Yangon, and this hotel is no exception. The most unfortunate aspect was that I happened to be trapped in the elevator during one of these outages, so that provided for an interesting experience.

Breakfast is good value and more than adequate, with a satisfactory selection of foods and a lovely view of a distant Shwedagon Paya from one end of the restaurant. I never ate dinner here, but did order room service which was very poor value and I would not recommend this. There are almost no outside food options nearby, expect for a little place called "Mogok Daw Shan: Noodle & Fast Food" which can be found by leaving the hotel and turning right - it is the only food place you'll find before reaching the main road.

As for location, the hotel is situated in a quiet street, and is only a 10-15 minute walk to Shwedagon Paya, but only if you know the directions, it is easy to get lost. Other sites need to be reached by taxi, and staff concierge are helpful in flagging down passing taxis and negotiating fares for you.

Overall, this would be my first choice in Yangon. There are other options, but for price, service from staff and cleanliness within large rooms, this is far superior to almost every alternative.

Room Tip: Rooms finishing with "02" seem more spacious. Rooms on the 7th floor attract some noise f...

After having stayed for 10 days i leave the Clover with mixed feelings. The location is fantastic, the rooms are nice and very clean. The staff is friendly, welcoming and supportive. But still this does not justify the high room rates. A real unpleasant nuisance is the housekeeping. It starts between 6.30 and 7 AM. The housekeeping staff tries to be as quiet as possible but of course they cant avoid noise altogether. The phones in the hallways start ringing when the housekeeping starts and never stops. Make sure you put the Dont Disturb sign at your door. Otherwise the staff will knock and call 'housekeeping' until you let them in. In short: dont expect to be able to sleep beyond 7 AM. They charge premium but what you get is a youth hostel treatment.

Next thing annoying is the internet access. Yes, internet is still very volatile in Myanmar and interruptions are frequent . But at the Clover seem to be also some homemade internet connection issues. I met many fellow guests who could not for days access the internet although there was connection and other guests were happily surfing the net. My travel companion could not connect to the internet during is entire stay for 8 days, whereas I did not face such a problem. It seemed like the server randomly decided whom to let access the internet and whom not.
The Clover will not be my first choice for future visits in Yangon.

We planned a short one-week trip to Burma--two nights in Yangon, three nights in Bagan, and the last two nights in Yangon. We booked the Clover Hotel for the first two nights and our hotel in Bagan well in advance, but we figured that we would book our final two nights in Yangon once we arrived. However, when we arrived, we found that not only did prices double or triple for accommodation, but lots of places were already full. We initially booked the Clover Hotel three months in advance for about $29/night-- the new asking price per night is somewhere in the $75-range, which seems to be the going rate around Yangon for similar quality accommodation. We wished we would have booked our last nights in Yangon at the Clover Hotel ahead of time--the rooms were spotless and the staff was friendly and helpful. They were booked for the nights we needed the following week as well, but they helped us call and reserve rooms at another hotel that had availability. The location of the Clover Hotel was quiet and only a 10-minute walk to the Shwedagon Pagoda-- we had a great view of the pagoda from our room and also from the restaurant on the top floor. The wifi worked well in the lobby and restaurant. I would highly recommend staying here if this hotel was in your price range.

A relatively new hotel off Nat Mauk Road north of Kandawgyi Lake. Clientele seems to be mainly Chinese business people and Thai tourists. Hotel is fairly new, so the fittings and facilities are in pretty good condition (e.g. compared to the K Paradise nearby which is a dump!) The rooms are quite large, with basic fittings, individual air-conditioning units and a basic sitting area. The bathroom did not have an enclosed shower, and instead the shower space was separated from the sink and toilet by a half-height wall. This meant there was a bit of splashing onto the floor especially if you are tall.
The breakfast room/ restaurant on the top floor serves a basic, predominantly-Asian cooked breakfast. The coffee was pots of basic instant, but otherwise fine. On the plus side the breakfast room has windows on all sides with panoramic views of Shwedagon and other parts of town.

Tucked away near the Kan Daw Gyi is a new hotel. the rooms are large, the staff are helpful and the dining area on the top floor has spectacular view of the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, which within easy walking distance. Just down the street is an entrance to the Kan Daw Gyi Park great for an early morning stroll. Breakfast is european and asian, the lunch and dinner prices are moderate.

The rooms while large, clean, with lots of hot water. The furnishing are on the sparse side.

We stayed for 3 days on the way in and hoped to stay another few days wehn we came back form upcountry but they were booked solid for the end of February.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms on west side have a view of Shwe Dagon.

Looking to enjoy the sights of Yangon? Then ask for a room on the 6th floor with a view of the Swedagon Pagoda. We had a very spacious room with a large TV and small fridge, large bathroom with a shower separate from the toilet, and a beautiful view of the pagoda.

The restaurant is on the 7th floor, offers breakfast, and had a decent menu with a very helpful waitstaff. The seats are comfortable and easy to kill a few hours catching up on internet stuff.

There is free WiFi in the lobby as well as the restaurant, but it does not reach the rooms.

The hotel felt very safe, with a very well staffed and attentive front desk, door security, and an attendant stationed on our floor.

For the price, or at least the price we paid at the time (prices are going up quickly in the area), this is a great place to stay.

This new hotel has clean rooms with good showers and beds. Free WI FI in room is a bonus and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The location is great for early walks to the Shedagon Pagoda Kandawgyi lake and also the monastery area. Breakfast is Chinese with the usual toast bread. Rice and noodles are better and the fish or tofu are good. Chicken too if you eat meat. View is great on to floor restaurant. (see picture)
Safe box is available and staff know how to get around town. Book on Agoda to save money and book ahead as Yangon is packed.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better.
