This hotel is an example of the penchant of socialist regimes in third world countries to put up a brave front to the world and declare that "We can do it too". That's why the architecture of the hotel can be described as "heroic" architecture with its imposing façade, its expansive entrance and its humongous dining room. The rooms have obviously never been updated since they were built, especially the bathrooms. Nevertheless the rooms are large, the bathrooms are well maintained and everything works. The staff also try very hard to please and the hotel's location beside the same lake where Au San Suu Kyi lives is hard to beat although it is a ways from the Central Business District.

I stayed one night here. An expensive hotel ($150 for a walk-up booking - which I then found could have been booked on line for $112!). However, I suspect this is average price for this standard hotel in Yangon now. All staff were excellent - extremely helpful and attentive without exception. The room was really cold on arrival, so I stupidly opened the balcony doors which let in the warm humid air causing an instant condensation problem an a damp suitcase of clothes for the rest of the trip! In retrospect I should have just turned the thermostat up to say 28C from the 18C it was set at. The website says the rooms are decorated in 'retro' style...true enough but I think they just about get away with it! Bathroom was clean but bath and shower in desperate need of re-grouting.

Restaurant staff excellent and a nice menu of Asian and Western choices.

A really nice, quiet pool, perfect for a quick swim. Good changing facilities and towels there.

The airport was a 20 minute taxi ride costing 6,000 kyat.

There was a cash machine in the car park that (despite emblazoned claims) did not accept MAstercard but did accept my Visa Debit card (charging a 5000 kyat fee).

It would be a great place to bring the family one day.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the lake, others face the trees at the back.

This is an old resort, that had its prime time in the 70's. Nothing is really done at the property since 1979. An the pool is not a place to enjoy. Apart from that, it is ok. It's a nice bed, and top breakfast. Keep in mind that Rangon is expensive on hotel rates.

NB! there is a lot traffic in the area, so do not expect to easily go around sightsing by taxi. Although 20 mins from the airport, and the road there is OK.

I stayed at the Inya Lake while on business in Myanmar. I found the staff to be very friendly and extremely polite and welcoming.
The location is great - like an oasis in the middle of Yangon. A walk around the lakeshore is very relaxing. The pool area is great and would be just fine for travellers with or without children.
The food is very good, I found, and the bar is good too.
Thr rooms are a bit tired lookig, but they have started rennovating.
Good free internet access.
I'd definitely stay again either on business or privately.

Room Tip: Request a room with a lake view.

This place is worth staying at for at least one night to see the amazing buildings and interiors of what was once a very classy hotel, built with a lot of teak, and grand designs. The 60s Miami pool is also a treat - very clean but all of another era. The staff were great, always ready to help, and the breakfast was great. The only criticism is the lovely teak hallways are very noisy, and sound reverberates down them - not great when you are trying to sleep. Not far from the airport for those early morning flights. Beautiful gardens surrounding it. Make sure you take a walk down to the lake around the pool. Beautiful.

A basic hotel with basic amenities but great service.

On a business trip and stayed here for 2 nights.

* Rooms were basic with very limited internet access. My door would barely close and I could hear everyone outside the door without any muffle.

* Food was nothing to complain about, and restaurant was accommodating. As for the bar, was very deserted and run down.

* Main foyer was open, and the customer service at the desk was excellent and they were willing to help in any way possible. The 2 small elevators were slow and old, so I took the stairs quite a lot.

* This hotel is situated right beside the lake, so one can stroll along the waters edge to stretch your legs, and has a basic pool for some exercise.

Room Tip: Get a room lower leveled if possible as there are only a couple of old and VERY small elevators.

The hotel is located on the Inya Lake. You can enjoy a drink view and i highly recommend to have a drink at the sunset. The hotel is very popular nowadays (high demand but lack of hotel rooms in Yangon) so it is highly recommended to book weeks in advance. Prices are also very high (starts at $160) considering the quality of the rooms. But still, this is one of the (current) best value for money in Yangon.
Hotel rooms are ok, but like for the hotel, some renovations and upgrades are needed. I do not believe it will happen anytime soon as the hotel is full every single day. Many rooms are permanently rented by International Organizations who chose to reside there.
Wifi Internet is available, free of charge, in lobby and in rooms, but frequent disconnections and very low speed. This is not specific to the hotel. Internet is just beginning in MYanmar and it will only improve with time.
Very comfortable bed and bedding, silent aircon.
Breakfast just ok, nothing to talk about.
Service with a smile and quite efficient, nothing to complain about.

In simple words: one of the best (current) deal in Yangon. Book in advance if you want to have a chance to get a room. Ask for a lake view room

Room Tip: Get a room with lake view, enjoy!
