Inya Lake Hotel, Yangon

We spent a very two months at Inya Lake Hotel, making good friends along the way. The General Manager (Suki) and his staff really looked after us. The location is tranquil, with an old world charm and the added advantage of being away from the congestion of the downtown area so is a great choice for either short or long stays, with families and couples equally well catered for. On arriving we were upgraded as our serviced apartment wasn't available but we were happy to wait for this. The new apartments on the second floor are well appointed (tasteful design, two flat screen TVs, large balcony). Rooms are made up every day and housekeeping staff are very discreet. There are good hairdresser and spa options and the Lake View bar is a nice place for a quiet drink at the end of the day. We used the swimming pool and gym facilities which are both well equipped, but didn't eat at the restaurant often given the number of choices nearby although we highly recommend the Sunday brunch. Overall we had a very good time and return often to Inya Lake Hotel.

Room Tip: Either side of the hotel is good, but try to be close to the elevators or stairs as it's a long...

A large hotel, nicely refurbished. Guests appeared largely business or tour groups with a smattering of independent travellers. Our welcome and subsequent service was friendly and efficient. Our room was well equipped ( showing none of the tiredness referred to by others) and had a delightful view across the lake. Nice parkland setting although the pool was disappointing. Food was good, if a little pricey, and breakfast excellent. It is a little out of town and its difficult to walk anywhere from the hotel - at the end of the approach road there is a six lane highway with no easy crossing point! But there is an exceedingly good (and also expensive) restaurant just next door - L’Opera - which is well worth the visit.

Room Tip: Upper floor facing the lake.

We stayed at Inya Lake over the Xmas holidays and I forgot how beautiful this property is but most of all how it is like an oasis in the middle of booming and busy Yangon. We loved the garden and pool by the lake and felt like we were miles away from a city but yet the city was right there on our door step. Our room was recently renovated so it was very bright and modern feeling. The staff are always friendly and love kids so this was the perfect place to spend some time after travelling up north in Myanmar. We had two room suite that was HUGE and very nice to relax in.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms have partial view of the lake, even in the back of the hotel !

Inya lake has a calming charm about it with lovely gardens and a beautiful view of the lake. Early morning breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake lends itself to a tranquil feeling, with soft light and shimmering water. Be warned, not to leave your breakfast unattended as a flock of local resident crows will soon empty your plate!-) The food in the Orchid restaurant was delicious, from the various local curries, to the morning breakfast. The rooms are large and airy with big balconies.
The friendly staff are most helpful and enthusiastic.
The location is good and only 20 minutes from the city centre.
Well wirth a visit.

Room Tip: The rooms are large and airy with big balconies.

A very interesting hotel in probably the most exclusive and tranquil part of Yangon. It is not often you find city hotels with park-like surroundings like this. All well maintained. The swimming pool is large and the surrounding spacious. Even with a full hotel you do not feel cramped in around the pool. Everything is actually big, inside Inya Lake as well. Large rooms, high ceilings, huge restaurant and lobby and more. The style of the building is 1950's in a bit of a rugged very solid way. Service is great and staff always attentive. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection from a large buffet. No need to wait for the scrambled egg, the waitress will bring it. The bar opens up to the park. Sitting outside with a cold glass of white wine at sunset overlooking Inya Lake is one of the amazing experiences in Myanmar.

A nice hotel, though showing its age, is in a comfortable setting. While the resort like environment is pleasant, the hotel is far from core area that is of interest to most tourists. It's best suited to those on business, or need to be close to the airport (given Yangon traffic) or those who will be in Yangon for a period of time and can take advantage of the resort amenities. Rooms are comfortable and reasonably sized. If you're a light sleeper (or adjusting with jet lag) you may find the noise an issue - the long hallways are not carpeted so you'll hear the clicking of shoes or the reverberations of voices internally; and bizarrely, there was a pack of dogs that barked for a good part of the evening - and then a lone one howling early in the morning - every night.

Inya Lake Hotel is on the Inya Lake, of course. It is a little ways out of town but it is picturesque and very comfortable. Huge grounds surround the Hotel so it makes it a really private stay. It is an older Hotel, almost colonial, but the decor and comfort factor are surprisingly good - I really didn't know what to expect from hotels in Myanmar, understandably. Given the chaos that is road traffic in Yangon (and all over Myanmar for that matter), this is a real haven. The service was excellent and they couldn't do enough for us. The restaurant was very good and the breakfast buffet was plentiful and of a high standard. Very impressive!

Room Tip: I would expect that every room is a good room - the whole place exudes tranquility and I found mysel...
