First stayed here back in 1999...came for two blissful days this time as part of The Global Scavenger Hunt group...what a great place still, albeit a little faded, it is a warm and wonderful place to stay before you head out into Myanmar's hinterland. Pool is wonderful, the food is great, the outdoor eating is sublime...management is a little cold, but the rest of the staff is warm, helpful and at your service! Wifi works great too!

Room Tip: I highly recommend hiring a car outside the hotel compound...maybe $5-10 a day...same service, bette...

This boutique hotel was a wonderful oasis during our time in Yangon. Yangon itself - and Myanmar generally - is a great place to visit but like many large Asian cities, it is an intense place to visit. However, on being met at the hotel entrance and walking down the timber walkway over the lovely pool into a gracious, colonial buiulding, you immediately feel at ease. The service was gracious and attentive, the rooms large and comfortable and the meal - both the breakfast, which was excellent - and the evening meal which we felt was good value for the quality of food and presentation. To top this, was the lovely garden and large pool which was a welcome relief after a morning's touring. Try it!

This is a pricey but worthwhile stop if you are in Yangon. Beautiful atmosphere tucked away in the embassy area of Yangon. Although that means it is a bit away from the centre.
The staff were excellent, welcoming, helpful at all times. Rooms lived up to expectations.
A great place to come back to for a siesta in the heat of the afternoon, before resuming your sightseeing. Then an evening dining in the garden.

Room Tip: All good so no need to be picky.

This hotel is a wonderful and luxurious respite from the hustle and bustle of Yangon. Located in Yangon's embassy district, upon arrival, the gardens are lush and welcoming as is the large pool. This old mansion is rich with history and the service was excellent (reception desk, concierge, breakfast and dinner). Outdoor and indoor dinning options are available is a magnificent setting. Absolutely the place to stay in Yangon.

A nice welcome after touring Myanmar. The GM handled our guide's attitude quickly while offering welcome along with his staff. I can't recall the name of the gentleman at the front desk,
but he was excellent. As well as everyone encountered. The poor young lady who has to work the roasting gift shop even had a smile.

A lovely colonial mansion in Yangon surrounded by Ambassador's residences,is wonderful to experience and enjoy. The spirit of the hotel is of relaxation and service in a luxe environment with teak and history. Myanmar has it's hitches and restrictions so while anywhere else it may be ok to complain about slow wifi, but not much to complain about in the lovely setting. Yes, prices are a bit high for wine, but how can you sit in a lovely garden of Yangon having a delicious meal excellent service, and complain? The pool is nice in it's setting. The pool attendant could have been more present, especially after sporadic rain.

The room was nice with enough space and a large bath. It was quiet as well. I had requested a larger room but I think when I return I'll stick to the same room.

Interesting & lovely flora, wonderful food and staff in a exotic Mansion!

Mingalabar and thank you for your review and for your praise about our staff,we work hard to ensure that it stays this way.

Glad to let you know that the A/C in the Boutique has been repaired so our sales lady there isn't "roasting" anymore.

In addition I would like to mention that we just lowered our wine sales prices by 15 %

We have taken note on your comment about the Pool Attendant and will make sure he is more present.

Again thank you for the time to share your comments with the traveling community

Looking forward to welcome you back at the Governors Residence

I suggest you stay at a more reasonably priced hotel ie The Summit Parkview Hotel, and book a 'High tea' at the Governers' in the afternoon.

Room Tip: If you go for High Tea you can wander round the hotel and enjoy the balcony with views of the garden...

The Governor's Residence is a fabulous hotel with old fashioned charm and great service; the perfect place to return to after a day of sightseeing.

Room Tip: Only drawback was the sound of the frogs! Ask for a room on the second floor!
