We had a day to kill on the way out of yangon and paid $8 a head to use the pool facilities for a day. (You pay $10 if you also want to use the fitness suite) this really is good value considering other places such as the traders charge $25 for the same service. Sadly - when we were there they were obviously having a few issues with the water and Pump system so the water was green and cloudy (we were assured this was not am issue and it was safe) the pool area was quite and at times we had it to ourselves. There is a pool bar (but it was not open so getting food and drinks was a mission - there are no menus and no staff so you have to go into the main
Bistro and ask in there) and the food is priced as you would expect for a place like this $10 for a sandwhich and $5 for a beer...

Saying all of this - the pool area is lovely and massive - sun loungers and giant towels provided and comfortable and there are showers and it is half way to the airport and so was the perfect place to while away a sunny afternoon and then reach to the airport in only 20 minutes rested and refreshed...

I've stayed at 3 different big hotels in Yangon, all top end hotels, and this was the worst by far. Even though the room was very expensive, I had to pay in cash for a plug adapter in advance of using it. There was no wi-fi in the rooms, even though they claim there is. The non-smoking rooms smell of smoke. I understand that many people smoke in Myanmar, so if the rooms cannot be kept smoke free, I suggest they don't advertise rooms as smoke free. When I wanted to alter my booking, there was quite a lot of hoopla, including consultations with the general manager, so it wasn't until the next day that I had confirmation that I wouldn't be charged for my original booking, which was a little stressful, as rooms aren't cheap and you can only pay in cash. Credit cards are charged a steep fee since the transactions are done in another country. The breakfast was fine, but again not what you would expect at this price. The orange juice, for example, was brown and cloudy and had a horrible taste!

On the positive side, rooms are clean and nice enough, but I really felt as if I were being nickeled and dimed at this top end hotel.

As this was not my experience at other Yangon hotels, I think I would choose another hotel for next visit to Yangon.

It's a good standard hotel. Clean, spacious, good service and polite / helpful staff. The buffet breakfast and dinner were good. There was a good selection of different types of cuisines. Overall, we were satisfied.

We spent two nights here at end of ten days touring Myanmar. Top place by Mandalay standards.
We had a great view room. Right up East side of moat round Royal palace.
Wifi very unreliable, but they are trying to improve. Bar quite good.
It was ok. Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good. Rather standard dinner buffet US$25 p head. We had a la carte dinner in restaurant. Excellent for Mandalay and wine by glass ok and not expensive. Nice pool.
To be recommended unless you are a backpacker.
Only 2 restaurants within walking distance. Green Elephant and A Little Bit of Mandalay. JJ's on corner looks like a triad hangout. Went in, sat down, walked out!

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking Street 26 facing Royal Palace

Stayed a night there and had an excellent experience. Room is spacious, clean and nice. People are friendly and helpful. The best part of my stay was having a room with beautiful lake side view and excellent service. Also I enjoyed morning buffet breakfast. Food are delicious. A+++++++

Room Tip: ask for lake side view

This hotel has a 5 star rating but I personally think it is not worth it when compared to the Traders Hotel. It has comfortable rooms but they are a little tired and need some reorganisation and new equipment. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The restaurant serves good food with a varied menu. One major problem we encountered with the hotel was its position which seemed miles out of downtown area. It took an hour to get downtown and an hour back again - over two days this wastes 4 hours of your sightseeing time! The staff are the usual friendly myanmar people.
