We stayed at the Traders Yangon for two nights at the beginning of our Burma trip. It is well located in the heart of the city. Our room was large and clean but generally the hotel felt like it was ready for some repairs and refurbishment, in comparison to other Traders Hotels we have stayed in the service and look and feel of the hotel was lacking.

Breakfast was good with a wide choice.

Give the bar a miss service was very very slow and the coffees we had were expensive

It an expensive hotel which could do more for its guests

Room Tip: We asked for a high floor

Dear 86Robsons,
Thank you very much for your comments and valuable feedback on your most recent trip with us. I am sorry to hear that your experience was not a better one, and apologize sincerely for the shortfalls.
Although our repairs and refurbishments are ongoing, I am happy to report that we are almost done with the progress and look forward to presenting better, upgraded facilities and product.
I will personally follow up on the slow bar service, which is not acceptable and needs improvement.
Our entire team is looking forward to welcoming you back and impressing you with the improvements made.
Best regards,

We spent two nights in Trader's Yangon - one at the start & one at the end of our 10 day trip to Myanmar. It was the most expensive place we stayed and objectively the most luxurious. It wasn't my favourite hotel of the trip, but we had a good time.

Pros
Clean room with a comfortable bed & good shower (plentiful torrent of hot water with Trader's own brand of not-at-all-like-what-your-grandmother-smells-like lavender scented toiletries) with plenty of white towels & two waffle robes

Extensive & high quality breakfast buffet - definitely the best we experienced during our trip - with lovely fresh fruit, breads & pastries, fresh juices, cappuccinos, eggs cooked to order, plenty of savoury & asian options, a doughnut "tree", a live waffle station and even a bucket of Chupa Chups - for the kid in all of us. :)

Wifi - while still slow by most international standards, was some of the fastest we encountered in Burma (but then you don't go on holiday to Burma for the wifi!)
Although we were far too slack/busy to use it, the hotel has a nice looking gym overlooking their rooftop pool area

Cons
Bustling business-like atmosphere - lots of laptops over pre-dinner drinks in the lobby lounge & the breakfast restaurant was also quite noisy. The hotel was also hosting a wedding when we checked in so there were kids running about & shrieking. The pool bar also suffered from a rather unfortunate constant humming noise - generators or A/C units it wasn't clear which - but it interfered with the otherwise peaceful surroundings somewhat.

The hotel is also undergoing renovation work - which we heard progress right above our 2nd room (only during the day from 9am to 6pm so quiet at night) Not a huge deal but would have been nice to know at the time of booking (for $300+ a night I kind of expect to be able to relax in the room during the day too)

While staff were friendly, on checking in, the front desk almost immediately asked us "What time will you be checking out?" which though perhaps a necessary question for allocation of rooms, also felt a bit premature & unwelcoming

Slooooooow lifts - going upstairs to fetch something from our room on the 10th floor took the better part of 10 minutes to go up & back at times. And there is also no onsite parking, so if you're being picked up be on time or else your car will need to leave & circle the network of one way roads around the hotel again.

While it's clearly one of the best hotels in Yangon and we were perfectly satisfied with our stay, compared to recent hotel stays in other South East Asian cities we thought it offered only average value for money and (aside from breakfast) was somewhat lacking in wow factor for the price point.

We began and finished our 3 week visit to Myanmar by staying at this hotel. Great service from start to finish, especially at club level. Rooms were excellent, good choice for food and lots of choice just outside. You're a 5 minute walk from places like Sule Pagoda and Scott's market, as well as all the colonial buildings near city hall. Pool/spa area was amazing, with water and fruit on offer to keep you hydrated (note, no hotel in Myanmar heats their pool, enjoy it for what it is). Massive choice at breakfast, with all cuisines on hand. Thoroughly enjoyed staying here in February, 2014. One of the only places we stayed that had a good internet connection (you are in Myanmar, after all). Thanks, Traders!

Room Tip: We stayed at club level on our first visit (21st floor) and 10th floor on second visit. Club level w...

We stayed 2 nights, wish it was more, way better located and way nicer then Inya lake hotel. Clean and comfy, good breakfast and lounge and lovely staff. Seems popular for weddings. Good location in the center of the city and near a cool street market.

I stayed at the Traders Hotel for business. It was my first trip to Myanmar. The facility and the firiendly staff in the hotel certainly left me with an excellent impression about Yangon.

The hotel is located in the center of the city, near the old train station and the landmark places. The room is very cozy, the bed is very nice and firm. The food quality is overall very good. My colleague has a special diet, the kitchen is able to meet her requirements.

We are working to meet a tight deadline, the business center is very helpfull in assisting us in the printing and duplicating documents.

The thing that impressed me the most is the service extended by the manager on duty in T cafe. At breakfast on my first day in Yangon, I had an Yangon local sweet and I like it. On Sat, Mar 1, I wanted to have it during my breakfast at T Cafe. Unfortunately they did not have in on the buffet that day. I requested from the Manager. But it would take time to prepare and I could not wait since we wanted to go sightseeing. The next day I came in, that particular sweet was not on the buffet table either. I did not inquiry about the sweet to the Manager. But she remembered and served me with few slices from the kitchen that prepared especially for me.

This level of service is hard to find. They went the extra miles to provide excellent services.

I definitely would stay in Traders for my next trip to Yangon.

The land of the thousand smiles: This would be a fitting description for this hotel. Whatever you do, wherever you look - you are likely to encounter a smile of a staff member. Asia 30 years ago....

But the staff not only smiles. They are highly competent, have (for Myanmar standards) a very good command of English and they obviously consider you a "guest" rather than a "customer".

The breakfast buffet is probably the best in the country. Also here the service is swift, courteous and efficient.

The check-in, in some hotels the first drama to be encountered, is high-tech: Your passports gets swiped and scanned and the registration form is generated from this scan. You sign. That's it.

The rooms have been softly renovated since the last visit. They are comfortable, spacious and the light concept works, also in the bathroom.
