I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Location is facing the famous Kandawgyi Lake. Looby is welcoming, check in is breeze, welcome drink with a smile. Bedrooms are spacious, bed is good. the deluxe room as separate shower cubicles. Free mineral water, good health centre, spa and the rooms facing the Schewadagon Pagoda is awesome at night. The hotel has souvenier shops, 3 restaurants. Breakfast is good and the speard is both local and western.. Good food. if u r flight is early they even pack yoru bfast ina box for you to take away. The Schewadagon Pagoda is 30 mins if u were to walk to the East Gate. There are alot of restaurants within walking distance within the lake area.

Room Tip: Try to get rooms that face the lake and the Schwedagon Pagoda

Everytime I have visited Yangon, I stayed at the Chatrium. Actually, I stayed here since it was called Nikko Hotel. Even though this is not a very new hotel, the management has always kept the room nice and clean. Once you arrive to Chatrium, you can immediately experience the wonderful Burmese hospitality. Their staffs always smile and be ready to serve. The breakfast is also good, with wide vareity of Burmese, Japanese, and American. One of the hotel's strong points is its location which is in the city center. I always miss the moment when I wake up in the morning, open the window and there stands the Chwedagong (The Golden Pagoda). Also the view of light-up Chwedagong at night is breathtaking.

Room Tip: You MUST ask for the room with the view of Chwedagong.

Chatrium staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. Housekeeping staff try to make all your requests possible. All this with the greatest of smiles. Do note that the hotel has functions almost all nights and they inform you by postings by the elevators. However, the functions end about 10 p.m. So be prepared to sleep after 10. Most places to visit are about a 1000 kyat away which is extremely reasonable. The hotel staff or the concierge will assist you with all you need.
I stayed at the hotel twice and both the times the service was great.

This is a large western style hotel with all the usual amenities. By Asian standards it is due for a bit of a renovation - but overall I found it to be clean, comfortable, great location with an amazing view from my room of the Shwedagon Pagoda. The staff were helpful and genuinely kind. I requested to be on the Pagoda side of the building, and while this was truly a magnificent view, it also was a view of the swimming pool. Last night they had a large pool side office party with really loud live music - thankfully the party was over by 9:30p.m. - other than that it was a very peaceful stay.

Room Tip: If viewing the Shwedagon Pagoda is important to you request when making reservation. The other side...

The staff at the chatrium are helpful and friendly, plus our balcony room was.of a very high standard.

One big.problem. Every night of our stay the hotel had private functions around the pool area. This is not fair to paying guests, as noise is inxreased and access to the pool is reduced.

This type of double booking isnt a good look. guests.need to be more valued.

Good location near the lake, excellent pool area with bar, health club, showers and dressing rooms, also nice for a few hours stopover in Yangon. (5-8000 kyat in taxi from airport) Several restaurants and shops, nice modern rooms, professional staff. Hillary Clinton even stayed here. Expensive drinks and beer compared to other hotels and restaurants though!
