Dear Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon.

My name's Watanyu W. and I would like to make a compliment to your staff, Miss Sarah who services on first floor at Tourist Info desk.

During my staying on 21-22 October 2012, miss Sarah gave us a lot of escorting about places to go and how, since I'm Thai, it was easier to communicate my own language, miss Sarah happened to speak Thai very well, her Thai was exactly right, politely and fluently, also she was perfectly nice girl with beautiful smiling face.

I was amazed and felt very good for the whole staying coz I realize I always could get some help from her during staying by just saying my own language.

The rest of the staffs are also very polite and helpful, I couldn't remember every name but I felt very grateful for their good caring during my trip.

Thank you very much and hope to see you all again some day soon.
~Watanyu

my 2 nights stay in this hotel was just acceptable
Can't believe they charge 7% on my visa, that was an expensive handling charge and the buffet plates can be more clean as I found some left over vege on the plate (from previous customer of course), the room and everything seems very aged and old. And yes, the lamp in my room fell apart when I was trying to turn it on. Improve your hardware please !

This hotel, rated 5 stars is not a 5 star hotel by American standards but for a developing country such as Myanmar it was more than adequate. The rooms although a bit shabby, stained rugs, etc. were very pleasant and quite spacious. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the lobby bar was a nice place for a Myanmar beer. The swimming pool was fantastic, very large, clean and comfortable. The hotel was quiet, outside the hustle and bustle of downtown across the street from Royal Lake. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 2 days twice in October -very welcoming service, nice large room with view of Shwegadon Pagoda. "Executive room" now renamed "club". Little extras like happy hour/snacks/"high tea" very welcome. Major drawback - on both occasions renovation work disturbing "peace". Floor butler Zow Zow tried very hard to compensate for this.
Overall - enjoyable but pricey.

This was a good hotel for a short touring visit of Yangon (Rangoon). The rooms were large, bed good, lobby nice, and front desk helpful. The breakfast bar had a confusing layout and food was merely okay. But the outdoor pool was glorious, set in a garden under tall trees. They need to provide a hotel-layout map to show how to get to the pool without going through the main lobby or dining room.

Good hotel, very friendly staff, great executive lounge on 8th and 9th floors with special check in service and free flow drinks and snacks through the day. Stunning views on Shwedagon pagoda from here. Easy walk to pagoda and plenty of taxis available. Do NOT ask staff to organize sightseeing tours. They charge up to 3 times the going market rate.
Pool is sublime. Local and Asian food dishes good, international cuisine needs plenty of training.
NIce touches:A) In the lobby, the management has provided the stone to grind Thenaka, the paste Burmese apply to their faces as sunscreen, so you can make as a local. B) Delightful copy of the Erawan shrine in Bangkok, with quiet and secluded pavilion on the hotel grounds.

There is too much construction. The price should be reduced during this time but they have increased the rates and are trying to pay for the remodel before it is completed I think. The breakfast room is not laid out well. The car service is ridiculously overpriced. The executive lounge is small and uninviting. I would not stay here again.

The staff is great Zwa Zwa in the executive lounge was super and Thi at the front desk.
