Chatrium Hotel is perhaps the only five star hotel with real five star facility and five star services. And it is good value for money!! A few other hotels advertise as five star but they are hardly in the same league. The rooms are very clean and large, and there is also a big pool. For all Thai travellers: there are channels 3,5,7!! The service is excellent and professional. I must commend Mr Sahapol, the Director of Room, for being so friendly and has great service mind, and for looking into every detail for hotel guests. This is so rare in Myanmar. I would recommend business or leisure travellers to stay here.

After 22hrs travelling from the UK we were so grateful that our rooms were ready at the Chatrium. Staff were extremely helpful and provided us with a welcoming drink. Our room was spacious with very comfortable large single beds. The bathroom was large, walk in shower and bath. Bathrobes and slippers provided. The towels were looking a little grey and thin but all clean. Bath products were a bit on the stingy side, would have liked larger sizes and they smelt a bit clinical. We overlooked the garden area and yes there was a wedding in the hotel that day, which was fascinating to see and all celebrations were over by 9pm.The restaurant was very good, many choices, beautifully cooked and presented, drinks and service very good.Free wi-fi was given to us on arrival a nice touch. The pool area is beautiful, lots of loungers/towels. There is a Cafe in the lobby area, serving good club sandwiches with all the trimming and the most delicious selection of cakes. We stayed at the beginning of our holiday for one night and at the end for one night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Chatrium Hotel.

It is not easy to find a good hotel in Yangon unless you pay a lot of money. But the Chatrium hotel is actually a hotel with good value for money – especially if you are a family and need a bigger room.

We booked a deluxe suite room, which is big. Just be aware that you cannot get a lake/pagoda view if you are staying in that room type.

But that could actually be a good thing, because the lake/pagoda view has also pool view. And at the pool area there are often weddings (with a lot of noise). So if you are choosing the nicest view you are also putting yourself in the risk of a sleepless night.

The breakfast is great with a lot to choose from.

The Internet is in general fine. But you can only connect two devices at the time. So for a family that could be a problem.

The pool area is great.

When we arrived we asked for a baby cot, which was no problem. But when we asked for an extra bed for our four-year-old daughter, we were told it would cost us 80 USD. We thought it was for the whole stay – but it was per night. So we found another solution.

The 80 USD was not for breakfast etc. that was free for kids. It was only for the extra bed. On Traders Hotel (where we also had stayed) it was free.

Room Tip: Lake/pagoda view = pool view = the risk of noisy weddings.

The lobby is filled with neon lit vendors. Food is inedible. Rooms beyond tired and cheaply furnished. Buyer beware.! We booked for two nights and moved after the first. Had to buy our way out by paying 50% of the second nights room

We had a couple of nights here before heading off into Myanmar interior and enjoyed our stay. It was great to have the lovely pool and terrace area after sightseeing and lunches were very nice and reasonably priced. You are a bit hard pressed for dining choices in the are but we enjoyed the Thai food in Bangkok Kitchen by the lake, opposite the hotel. Rooms and everything were fine. I guess it is a bit expensive overall, but that seems to be the way in Myanmar now that it is becoming more popular. Great to wake up and look out over the lake to Shwedagon Pagoda; very atmospheric.
