Stayed at both Traders and Park Royal during this trip. I personally prefer Park Royal. The two hotels are only 5 minutes by foot away, however Park Royal appears to be in a more "residential" neighbourhood so you see more locals. The decor also looks warmer (but I am sure Traders would also appear different after the current renovation). Aung Mingalar Noodles is literally around the corner so you can have a cheap local meal and watch the world go by if you don't feel like hotel food. Interestingly, the food outlets in this hotel post their prices in kyats instead of dollars at Traders. Not sure what their policy on USD is should you decide to pay for anything in USD.

The TV reception was not good in the room, so the pictures of most channels were slightly "snow-flaked". However I was only there for one night so it was not like I totally lost touch with the outside world without the different TV new channels.

The bed was VERY comfortable.

For internet, walk into the shopping centre literally next door (to the left of the hotel when you exit) and go to the 4th floor for Cyberia. K500 an hour.

We stayed there for 2 nights. It is clean and the staff is very friendly. Certainly the hotel is not a honey moon place - more a business hotel. If you go around the hotel, be aware of the hookers, which try to sell you cheap trips - usually the trips are not that chap and the guy who drives you has an old car and hardly speaks any english!

A typical city hotel in Yangon. Rooms are not bad. Room service food was not that great, but breakfast was not bad. The location is not bad but you have to walk about 15mins to get to the centre where Aung Yong Bok San market is. Other hotels like the Traders Hotel is a better location if you prefer to be at the central. For the price we paid (About USD 85 per night) it was good value for money, though.

Spent one night here while passing through Yangon, the lobby and common spaces were reasonably nice but my room was not in great shape. Location was OK but not particularly convenient to the airport. Pleasantly surprised by the internet connection and the breakfast.

This was our first trip to Myanmar and I chose to stay in a Park Royal hotel as we have stayed in other Park Royals in Malaysia and know that they are of a reliable standard.
Yangon Park Royal did not dissapoint us. The room [ standard] was clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet provided a wide selection of food with maybe a not surprising lean towards chinese and japanese quisine. There were many Chinese and japanese visitors in the hotel. The bar serves tasty snacks and is a pleasant area to sit and have a drink.
All the staff were helpful, courteous and friendly. We had a very early start when we flew up to Bagan and were provided with an ample packed breakfast as we were leaving before the restaurant opened. They also stored a suitcase for us as we returned to the hotel for a couple of days when we came back from Bagan.
The pool area is pleasant with comfortable loungers and an attentive pool boy.
It is an easy walk from the hotel to Scott's market with no big roads to cross! Taxis were easily available and reasonably priced - quite an experience as they all seem to be in varying stages of delapidation but all the ones that we rode in worked and had efficient brakes.
Each day there was a young lady in traditional dress waiting to meet and greet at the door of the hotel and each day the costume was different.
I would certainly stay here again. We were well looked after.

This is our second stay at PARKROYAL, and we found it a consistently good hotel of international standard. Its city centre location is excellent - a shopping complex almost next door and the well known Bogyoke Market about 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Using the short cut way to the Bogyoke Market you will have an unforgettable experience of crossing the ancient railway tracks using a bridge whose [teak?] wooden steps which had not been been replaced since the British colonial days when it was built.

The housekeeping staff were cheerful and polite, always very generous with their "minglabar" greeting whenever we cross each other in the corridor. The room was always kept tip-top clean. We requested an ironing board and iron and the response time to deliver them was exceptionally fast .

Breakfast was of excellent standard and the spread amazing - catering to local, Asian [including Japanese and Indian] and Western taste. Every guest must try the popular local Myanmar dish called "mohinga", a tasty rice vermicelli served with fish based gravy and condiments.

My sincere appreciation goes to the hotel staff for arranging a breakfast tray to be taken to our room for my wife who had a bout of flu and was not able to join me for breakfast. The La Brasserie and Housekeeping staff so willingly and without hesitation attended to my request and performed the job exceedingly well.

Our experience staying at PARKROYAL was so satisfying that I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Good value for money too.

The check-in process was efficient, provided by courteous and well groomed staff. We were allocated a deluxe room on the 6th floor, reasonably spacious, with a nice view overlooking the swimming pool.

Room Tip: Request higher floor, perhaps overlooking the swimming pool.

I stayed here for three separate nights on a recent trip to Myanmar. The first time the room I was assigned seemed to be in need of renovations. The bathroom was in pretty bad shape with some crazy looking red mold or something on the floor, a giant crack across the mirror and otherwise looking like it needed some work.

The other two times the rooms I was assigned seemed to be in much better shape.

The beds were a little firm, but that seemed to be par for the course in most places.

I never could get the wifi to work. But discovered on my last stay that they have very fast internet available in the business center for 2000 kyat per hour.

The breakfast buffet is quite comprehensive with Asian choices as well as bread, pastries, fruit, cereal, waffles, eggs, etc.

The dinner menu is fairly varied. And the restaurant has a couple of lounge singers doing Western pop tunes in the evening. It seemed sort of odd but also kind of fun.

Certainly not luxurious accommodations by Western standards, but a perfectly fine 3-star-ish place. It seems to get quite a few tour groups. Staff were quite nice though as is the norm all over SE Asia.
