Yangon is sizzling as business people and tourists rush in upon the whiff of the liberalisation of the country. The Parkroyal is a solid but unexciting hotel in a great location. Kandawgyi lake is a ten minute jog away and the hotel has a large gym as well as a tennis court and a swimming pool. There's also a ping pong room as well and a spa. The equipment is modern and the tennis court has just been resurfaced.
Due to the press of foreign visitors the only room available was a club room floor and breakfast was tasty and in a stylish served in the calm 8th floor lounge. The internet was free as a club floor perk as were a number of other services. A big flat screen tv with some foreign news channels and Star World dominated the bedroom. The rooms are a little tired and bland, but clean and well furnished.
The night club in the basement is either an immoral den of drunkeness, loud music and scantily clad ladies of the night, or a happening night spot packed with opportunity, depending on your point of view.
