Stayed in Parkroyal Yangon twice during our Myanmar trip, and we managed to stay in 2 different kind of rooms (Deluxe and Superior).
The hotel is situated a few blocks away from the downtown core, although notable landmarks such as the Bogyoke Aung San Market and Sule Paya are just a few minutes walk from Parkroyal.
The hotel's facade, while brightly-painted, does not really give an accurate impression of the rooms. While the exterior looks new and the lobby appears well-furnished and classy, the rooms appear to be a bit tired. Some of the furnishings appear to be "well-used," with lots of scratches in some parts. These deficiencies notwithstanding, the room is comfortable especially after spending a steamy afternoon outside.
The hotel also has a fitness center which has a few equipments. While small compared to western standards, I could tell from the records that the gym has a lot of regular members.
The breakfast selection is one of the best I had compared to the other hotels I stayed in Myanmar. There were far more items, from cooked dishes to cereals, to choose from. Also tried eating ala carte for dinner but was disappointed by their interpretation of Asian and Burmese dishes.
Overall, Parkroyal Yangon is a good place to stay in the city for its price range. It is not the most convenient but it does the job.More
