our stay in Burma apart from the terrible heat was great even through quick trip.Hubby and I hired a car/driver and guide(MOJO) and he took us out to Taukkyan Cemetery where my grandfather is buried (50ks) out of Rangoon. The drive then took us and showed us a few places Sule Pagoda Shwedagon Pagoda and Bogyoke markets. Our Hotel was great restaurant nice
BURMA is a place stuck in time but very cultural and full of Intrique.

Service was fantastic and rooms were decorated very tastfully.
Location was magnificant.
Relaxing at the end of the day with the live light music in the lounge was the best I liked.

I regrete to write that there was very little food on offer for a pure vegetarian man like me. I hope I will get better food next time around.

Overall it was valued for my money.

The staff are friendly but not outstanding. Stayed in a lakeside room and it was well worth the little bit extra. The city centre is not far by taxi, Shwedagon is within walking distance. They have a car/driver hire service that is good. The drivers are very friendly and willing to show you around. The vehicles are air conditioned. The constant power failures were a pain, but you were never without power for more than a few minutes. The buffet breakfast was good, but not outstanding. The setting on the lake is hard to beat. The pool was clean and welcome in the heat. Drinks are expensive. Not sure if I'd go back, but it is certainly worth a stay if you haven't been there.

I am a very frequent business traveler to Myanmar and after having stayed in many hotels I settled for the Kandawggyi Palace. Location is very convenient and it is very good value for money. The staff is very helpful and will always help you out with any request - at a reasonable price. My customers are impressed by the settings - in short - the perfect base to develop a business in Myanmar. Last but not least, Kandawggyi offers the best internet connection in town. If you use a Blackberry (like I do) you will be able to access all your emails like at home.
