“Postcard post a big plus”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

Stayed here twice during trip to Burma. Several pluses: the view of the Shwedagon, proximity to several restaurants (including the Padonmar, by some way the best we encountered on the trip): but what I really liked was an act by reception. On our last day we realised that though we had written our postcards we had not bought stamps, didn't know where to and had no time to find out. I thrust them into the hands of the receptionist, gave him 12 x what ever it costs (rather a lot, I think) and resigned myself to having wasted time and money. They all arrived promptly. The hotel is fine, espeially if you like noisy French seniors.

Room Tip: Well, obviously facing the Shewdagon.

The Summit Parkview hotel was in good shape long time ago. Now, it is dirty and and very old fashion. However, in comparison to all other hotels in Yangon, it still belongs to to the top addresses in the town. The location near to the Shwedagon Pagoda is really priceless. You should take a room with the beautiful view to the pagoda. You can also climb to the flat roof of the hotel and enjoy the wonderful view.

The pool smells bad and gym is horrible - but it is there and if you need to exercise you get the opportunity to do so.

The dinning room is not bad but the restaurants in the surrounding are much better and even cheaper.

Room Tip: You should take a room with the beautiful view to the pagoda.

We stayed here for 2 nights of our 10 day tour of Myanmar. We exchanged our crisp US bills right in the hotel which was a bonus. We used the pool each afternoon as Rangoon is hot and humid. We ate dinner both nights in the hotel and found the food good and very reasonable. Our room was average, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very gracious, patient and helpful.Only downside was that wifi was expensive but the rates on hotel computers was more reasonable. We also took advantage of a full body massage which was very inexpensive and enjoyable.

We booked this stay twice during our stay. I would say it's a Holiday Inn Myanmar style. The hotel is close to most of Yangons sites. I don't think you will be walking anywhere close but the taxis were always availble. You can change money right in the lobby but bring those new bills as they don't like a bent bills at all. Our first room was overlooking a night club/restaurant on the left hand side of the hotel that was noisy until late so maybe stay on the right hand side of the hotel to avoid that problem. Hotel pool was good for an afternoon dip. Nothing here laft a lasting impression except there were loads of weddings.Hotel is of good standards and will probaly not let anybody down.

Room Tip: Looking at the hotel stay to the left hand side to avoid club noise at night

THE BAD NEWS: The weather is hot & humid, so walk to Shwe Dagon after 4 PM... Hotel is about 20 min. from Yangon Airport, about US$30...THE GOOD NEWS: Hotel staff is very friendly...staff handled English well...Tipping is expected...Room was clean & quiet, with 2 comped bottles of water, electric water pot, coffee, tea, shampoo, bar soap, shower cap, no body lotion... Restaurant at dinner has a nice variety of cuisines - prices are reasonable for a hotel...Breakfast buffet looked good, but we had to leave hotel early & they accommodated us by boxing some food for us (hard-boiled egg, pastries, fruit, juice)...15 min. walk to Shwe Dagon Pagoda, but be careful crossing the street because cars have the right-of-way & you don't!...Bogyoke (Scott) Market is about US$2 by taxi..US$1 = 830 kyat at the time...Myanmar beer is good - light & not bitter!
