Nice location, very close to the Shwedagon. Do book a deluxe room, the superior rooms don't have a view over the pagode (as I found out).
The staff is very friendly and the breakfast buffet is very good.

Getting a room in Yangon becomes very difficult. Prices are up almost every other week. Then take what you can get and be happy! The hotel needs some refurbishment, the rooms needs a more contemporary decoration. Bathroom is ok, clean but very old fashion. Restaurant is borderline. Our burmese friends have to solve the problem rapidly otherwise people will not come anymore.

Room Tip: select a suite !

I strongly recommend this hotel. I has everything the traveller could want including free wifi in the rooms. It is only a cheap taxi ride from downtown (less tha $4). I has fabulous views over the Schwedagon Pagoda - night time is amazing.

Room Tip: Make sure you visit the roof for the pagoda view - has to be done with a security gaurd.

We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of our Myanmar trip.

The staff is friendly, helpful and speaks English. Rooms are nice, big enough for a 2 night stay, clean, there is a TV, fridge, air-con, hot water, towels. Can't really complain. WIFI is free, stable and for Myanmar it's a stable connection and fast.
The room was in the 6th floor, not facing the Pagoda (it was facing the swimming pool and it was really quiet). Since the windows are thin, I think the rooms facing the street might be a little noisy. Even at our room you hear dogs barking, but that's not a big deal.

Breakfast was good, dinner as well! Don't miss the Happy Hour, the cocktails are not bad!

If you have a guide or if you are travelling with a group and a bus picks you up every day, the location is ok. But around the hotel there are not a lot of restaurants or shops, it's rather boring.

Don't let the lobby fool you! It is modern, bright, well-lit with a
contemporary furniture -- truly 5-star for Burma. Rooms are quite different.

I had room 529 which looked very 1970's and I would say the decor of
the room is closer to 3-star. Tiles in the bathroom had been
repaired but the repairs needed repairs. The rooms need to be
updated to make it match the lobby areas. Water pressure was wonderful

The TV had CNN and movie stations in English

The best part of room 529 was the view -- if you looked to one side
there was a beautiful view of Shwedagon Pagoda which was truly lovely.

Thee are two money changers in the shopping arcade and about 5 stores.
I used the moneychanger on the right side of the corridor as he was more amenable to
giving me small denomination currency (100 and 500 kyat notes) and
when I exchanged my left over currency back to USD, he gave me a good
rate.

On my second visit to the hotel, I had room 420 which was no better
than the first room. Others in my group reported renovated rooms so maybe
the hotel is working on this.

The business center charges 2000 kyat an hour to use their computers.
Even though they said I would be able to print a boarding pass, they
were mystified when it did not print. They charged me anyway.

There are several stores off the lobby. Prices in the souvenir shops a higher than what you will find on the street. The jewelry shop with custom made silver items has fixed prices.

If you have forgotten any items, it is a 1000 kyat (about $1.20) taxi
ride to a shopping mall with a small supermarket called "Orange" in
the basement.

Room Tip: You would want a view of the Schwedagon Pagoda.

Stayed here as part of an Explore tour. It is quite a big hotel and a little way out of town but quiet and close to Shwedagon. There is (chargeable) wi-fi and there's a fair size pool. The breakfast buffet was very comprehensive with good selection of eastern food as well as an egg/omelette station and western food. The good sized rooms have all amenities – aircon, ceiling fan, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge and a decent size bathroom with bathtub. Best rooms at the back of the building 201-218, 301-318 – overlooking the pool, rather than the road.
Several restaurants nearby (We went to My Garden across the road).

Room Tip: Preferably at the back - minor problem with barking dogs, but probably quieter than the roadside roo...

What a treat to see a horned owl roosting on the rafters of the outdoor dining area at the Summit Park View Hotel. This hotel obviously does not mind native wildlife sharing their hospitality. We had a lovely couple of days at this hotel. There is a great dining room which caters for all tastes, plus a pool and gym and wifi. The rooms are clean although could be updated. But this was a real supprise in Yangon. We would recommend staying here.
