“Good hotel for a short stay”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

The best thing about the hotel is probably the location. Although you might still need a (cheap) taxi, it's a very short drive to Scott market and Shwedagon pagoda. Breakfast was nice and although I didn't eat there for dinner the menu looked decent. The rooms were alright, not luxurious for sure but wifi was working very well and the views were nice. It's very expensive for what you get and there are many better hotels in Yangon, but it was ok for the very short time we stayed there. The corridors smelt a little like smoke but it wasn't really any problem
A friend went to the Dragon bar and apparently ended up buying some expensive drinks for a woman who sounded like a prostitute so be careful in there!

Room Tip: If you don't smoke, make sure you get a non-smoking room, preferably facing Shwedagon pagoda

Location - 30minutes to 1 hour from the airport depending on traffic. 10-15 minutes to down town and 20 minutes to east yangon. This is a very quite and green part if town too .
Front desk; check in and check out is quite well handled and a delay is very rear.
Rooms : very clean and spacious. Includes safe deposit box. Non/smoking can be reserved, whole of 2nd floor is non smoking. Ask for rooms with a view of the pagoda. Also wi-if is available all over the hotel.
Area. : can walk within 5 minutes the the shwe da gon pagoda and right opposite the peoples park. Walk round the park at a brisk pace is circa 30 minutes. If the weather is bad a well equipped gym is available.
Food : nothing much to talk about, but a few great restaurants within walking distance plus many new ones set to open in the peoples Park which is a simple 5 minute walk.
Staff ; very friendly and always ready to oblige. If you are a repeat guest you will be surprised how well they remember you. I have stated here circa 4 times in the last one year and will continue to come back.

If you;re looking for luxury then this is not the hotel in Yangon for you. Once you've driven past THE STRAND and Sule Shangrila, this 4 star hotel would appear almost 2 and the halfish. It would be good to invest in a little more $ and book the brand new renovated rooms which the hotel labels as premium rooms. Bar was nice to screen the FIFA 2014 live but the music in the bar wasn't that ideal. Staff were very friendly and always cheeful. OH, breakfast was good too!

Room Tip: Choose the rooms with the Shewadagon Pagoda. Just pay a little more

good place as base in Yangon. Comforatable and clean, the staff are friendly and helpful. It is not bad as Yangon goes, I was not particularly thrilled with Yangon, at least the Summit made it better. Handy to Shwegadon and afew other sites like the museum etc.

Room Tip: Higher than L 3 overlooking peoples park

The hotel is conveniently located , the staff is very friendly and helpful.... but the hotel , rooms and pool are dated. The rooms looking out over the pool have a "building site view". The rooms on the front are to be preferred. Otherwise very clean.

The hotel is located far from the center but close to the Shwedagon Pagoda. There is nothing much around but you can enjoy dinner in opposite My garden restaurant (chinese food) or kind of nightlife in the backside lounge club called Pioneer. Hotel looks classy and it is keeping English manners from the colonial period (at least I felt this way). Reception looks luxurious and lobby is very spacious. Friendly and helpful staff (always smiling). There is possibility of welcome drink which you can enjoy in Dagon bar with life music (but bar was empty and atmosphere melancholic). There is no problem with wifi but you can also use internet in the business center (you need to pay for it). I really enjoyed buffet breakfast with many choices (from continental to typical Myanmar). Choose table at the terrace under the umbrella with the view of swimming pool. One feels like travelling in time. Rooms are clean but very modest. Looks a bit old but those offering you view of Shwedagon pagoda can beat the any objections. We had problems with plumbing in the bathroom in few rooms and there was reconstruction going on on the first floor at the moment of our stay even during the night what woke up few clients. But in general it is very nice and calm place to stay.

Room Tip: Choose one with the Shwedagon pagoda view, you are gonna LOVE IT!

When buying a house everyone says location is one of the most important things to look for and I believe it's the same for hotels. This hotel is within walking distance to Shwedagon Pagoda, a must see and the National Museum.
My husband and I are senior travelers on a 3 1/2 month trip through SE Asia. One Stop booked this hotel for us at $180 per night for double/twin room. We had 3 separate stays here: February 10-14, 2014; March 7-8, 2014; March 9-10, 2014. We received a warm welcome with each stay. This hotel has an elevator so climbing stairs not an issue.
With each stay we had a room with a view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. All our rooms were comfortable and clean. I especially appreciated the bathtub for relaxing bubble baths at the end of the day! The wifi worked great which I didn't expect. The hotel staff were amazing writing things down in Burmese, helping us get taxis, etc. We thought the breakfast buffet to be very good-plenty of variety and good quality. We loved and made use of the pool. My husband also enjoyed the fitness center.
So this place not only has a great location but I feel it offers good value for the price when compared to other hotels with the same kind of amenities and similar quality.
We loved our stays here and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We had rooms 327, 323, and 543. All had great views of Shwedagon Pagoda. Beds were comfortable, wi...
