I don't have much to compare it to. I am not sure what the other hotels in Yangon are like. But, after visiting Yangon, I can say I am VERY happy that I didn't stay in the city. We mainly went to see Shwedagon Paya and this hotel is walking distance to the Paya, so it was perfect for what we wanted. The lobby was very nice and the hotel felt very peaceful. The rooms were spartan and the hallways were old but the hotel is very comfortable and serves its purpose well. The idea when visiting Yangon isn't to stay in a hotel the entire time. The bed was very comfortable, hot water and pressure were all great. I had no complaints.

We had a good time at the hotel.

The rooms are quited dated and the place could use a paint job. The staff are only so-so and could not handle even basic questions about the city. However, we had a nice view of the pagoda and the restaurant is passable, especially for Asian food. Since the exchange rate had sunk to 810:1, it was cheaper to eat at the hotel and pay in USD than go out. The main chef is Thai and they are far better at the Asian than Western dishes. The pool is pretty good, so you can have a satisfactory stay there. We paid $50/night and the place probably shouldn't cost more than that.

The hotel was fine, great breakfast (best I had in Yangoon), excellent service. The only problem is that on one side of the hotel, a disco is open and if your room is on that side, you hear loud "boom boom" base till all hours of the evening. I know that this isn't the hotels fault, but one should be aware of this and should ask for a room on the opposite site, preferably facing the shwedagon pagoda. Since these rooms are preferred, ask for it right away...even pay a little more if you have to.

We stayed here for 2 nights after Shanghai, Railay and Bangkok. That is probably why we were a bit underwhelmed by the Summit. The rooms are OK, but there is no safe. The TV has few English channels. The shower pressure is good, but the fixtures are very dated.

The breakfast is also OK but not special.

Local restaurants are good. The Feel restaurant is really good for Burmese food at lunchtime and is a short walk from the hotel. Go to the Governor's Residence for drinks and possibly dinner. A must and it is only a 2$ ride away.

Another must is taking the ferry to the far bank and having a rickshaw ride around the morning markets. Great local village life. A complete contrast to Yangon.

$3 per hour for slow Wi-Fi. I couldnt get my emails on the iPad, but ot. Connection. Strange.

Summit Parkview is located near the Shwedagon Pagoda. From the rooms in the upper floors there is a good view at the pagoda. It was my 4th stay in this hotel since 2005. Rooms well equipped, very friendly staff, nice restaurant and bar. Unfortunately they had raised prices for food and drinks significantly since my last stay in 2008, but still acceptable. They offer wellness activities like massage, etc. in a spa on 2nd floor. The hotel is very popular with locals for occasions like weddings. Internet limited and slow, like in most places in Myanmar. The hotel could look nicer, if they would invest in some paint, especially on the outside walls. Quality of service good as usual, but I noticed that no significant investment has been made lately in the outer appearance of the hotel, and the furnishing of the rooms. New: They have a shop at the end of the little mall behind the bar on ground floor, where you can change money for similar exchange rates as they give you in Bogyoke market.

Away from the hustle and bustle of down town Yangon. Lovely front desk personnel; knowledgeable of the city; helpful staff all round; clean; comfortable. Front line personnel has good conversatinal command of the English language.

10 min brisk walk to Shwedagon Pagoda's West Gate. 20 min leisurely stroll after a good hotel breakfast (comes with the package).

Clean and things work. Very easy to get a taxi.

Really, really close by (less than 5 min leisurely walk from Summit Parkview Hotel) to a great place for good Chinese food - "Singapore's Kitchen". Friendly operator, Mr. Jang. Helpful chef, Mr. Li. Don't know what to order? Just approach them. Clean and efficient.Operates from lunch till late in the evening. When weather permits, dine alfresco.

The hotel is just across the road to "Peoples' Park" Great place for a morning walk to work up the appetite for breakfast.

Defintely worth staying in this hotel whenever I ever visit Yangon again. Not ***** with all the frills; you get what you need. Great value for $.

Thanks Summit Parkview Hotel for a lovely 3-nighter.

Travelling to Myanmar the first time, knowing the standard of Asian hotels but not knowing the standard of hotels in this particular country we decided to book through a travel agency (also because we wanted to get the visa-on-arrival). The travel agency suggested Summit Parkview hotel and as the price level seemed okay we decided to go for it. The rooms have seen their best days and very basic but have clean sheets and hot water - enough for us. Downstairs they have a souvenir shop (with internet, however, the connections are not very reliable and access to some pages denied..), doctors office, swimming pool, gym, money exchange etc so the services are pretty good. The location is okay but could have been a little closer to the city. Going to the city or out to eat at night we ended up taking cabs. Shwedagon pagoda is close by so there you can walk. At night you can also the top of the pagoda from the hotel. To summarize it all: okay hotel, okay price, locationwize I would probably opt for something else next time around.
