we are staying in this hotel at room 912. we have been very pleased with our experience with check in staff, house cleaning, dining etc. used the gym yesterday and happy with experience. I am just very puzzled why hotel is quite empty yet extremely difficult to book. I wonder how booking management handles this. they should not make it so very difficult to book from abroad or locally. if management continues this barrier, I'm sure this wonderful facility will be under utilized. thank you to all wonderful staff.

Mingalabar!

Thanks for your feedback on Tripadvisor and we hope you are enjoying your stay at our hotel!

We are glad that you have enjoyed the experience at our hotel and I will pass on your compliments to the various departments. We just completed our gym set-up a few weeks ago and it is great to know that the gym has been a positive experience for you.

Regarding reservations, there are many channels to reserve at our hotel. Our hotel just opened three months ago and we have not opened the entire hotel yet. A number of rooms are ready, but we have not opened them yet because we do not want our guests to be disturbed by construction noise. Nonetheless, the rooms that we have opened are well-functioning and should not be affected by any construction work. Regarding capacity, our hotel has been relatively very packed the past month or so, but at times, may look different because many of our guests are business travelers. Please feel free to email grandunited.head@gmail.com as we can further advise on channels to reserve at our hotel.

Finally, we are happy that you enjoyed the warmth that our staffs have offered you and we genuinely hope to welcome you again in your next visit to this marvelous city!

We had a very nice stay at Grand United Hotel and came back at the end of our trip in Myanmar. Excellent hotel with modern rooms, a good internet connection, a modern fitness room (+ sauna), an excellent breakfast and quite a friendly staff. Not a very central hotel but in a quite area near the embassies and some good restaurants 10mn walking. A special thank to the General Manager who did everything to make our stay in Yangon a very good experience. Highly recommended hotel.

Thank you very much for your feedback on Tripadvisor! We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay at our hotel and thank you for your loyalty to Hotel Grand United!

We are humbled by your positive review and we will be sure to pass this on to our staffs and various departments. We are trying our best to improve our breakfast and so, it is great to hear that we are heading in the right direction. Regarding location, we are fortunately located in a place that is easily accessible to downtown Yangon and other landmarks without much traffic. Effective mid-December, we are also now offering free shuttle service to a few popular destinations in Yangon several times a week because we want our guests to be exposed to the best bits of Yangon!

Thank you very much and we look forward to welcoming you again in the near future!

location is excellent. personally i do not like hotels in town centre like bogyoke market. getting taxi in and out is a chore and expensive. However, this Ahlone branch is only 5-10 mins to town, yet the road in front is peaceful for a cup of street side coffee.

I am also lucky to get good views from my rooms everytime. i believe there isn't any tall neighbouring buidings.

Another plus point is this hotel is relatively new, so a good level of comfort is easily maintain with their house keeping. Lobby is also big and bright with ample seatings to meet business associates.

Thank you for your feedback in Tripadvisor!

We are glad you enjoyed our location - indeed, we are located very close to downtown and many landmarks in Yangon - with relatively less traffic around our area, it takes little time to reach various destinations. We are also fortunate to be surrounded by small coffee shops offering nice Burmese tea, coffee and snacks.

We are also pleased that we have been able to ensure you enjoy your experiences to the fullest. We thank you for your loyalty to Hotel Grand United and look forward to welcoming you again in your next visit to Yangon!

At $180 a night, it's really overpriced compared to other SE Asia cities (would be half that in the best areas of Manila), but pretty good for Yangon. Clean and modern room with a fantastic view of Shwedagon Pagoda. OK breakfast. Location is not very convenient. Would be a fairly long walk to Shwedagon, and a taxi ride to anywhere else. Wifi was slow to useless except during the middle of the night.

Room Tip: room on the front (east) side have a great view of shwedagon pagoda, and also the Central Hospital w...

Hello Steamplayer,

Thanks for your feedback on Tripadvisor and this will help us a lot to improve our services to our guests.

We appreciate your acknowledgment that our hotel rate is competitive in Yangon and we will make sure that our guests always feel value for money. We do hope that in the near future, the hotel rates will stabilize or become competitive with other Southeast Asian cities.

We are glad you enjoyed your room. We highly value cleanliness throughout our Hotel Grand United branches, realizing this being one of the most important factors for our guests. We are continuously trying to improve and expand our breakfast selection. Regarding the location, it is actually reachable to many places downtown or in various parts of Yangon with a taxi, which is relatively cheap to other Southeast Asian nations. The benefit about our location is that when you get out of the hotel, you will not face the busy traffic in Yangon.

Regarding Wifi, we are right now starting to install a new Internet infrastructure, which will be very high speed and we are doing this to ensure business travelers and all guests are highly satisfied.

Thank you very much for your feedback and we genuinely hope to welcome you again at Hotel Grand United (Ahlone Branch)!

I stayed this hotel for 5 nights (room with balcony) and 1 night (no balcony) for business purpose at the end of October. Oerall, it's good hotel, considering terrible hotel situation in Yangon. Positive and negative points as follows.

<Positive>
1.New & clean room: Hotel has been operational within 1 year. Room size is big enough and amenities are also sufficient. Room has a large refrigerator. Basically very clean except insect.
2.Helpful staff: Staff always shown the attitude to help the guest. Rental car was able to arranged easily.
3.Acceptable breakfast: I'm not very much interested in breakfast. Such for me, it was acceptable. Steamed white rice, fried rice, fried vegetables, omelette, mixed fried vegetables and chicken or fish, fruits, dessert, green tea, coffee. Taste is good. That's enogh for me.
4.Not too heavy traffic: Downtown area in Yangon is always suffered from heavy trafic. But this hotel is located western part of Yangon, therefore transportation from / to airport is not too much stressful.

<Negative>
1.Insects: I want them to improve this point very much. There were a lot of insects in my room, although I'm not sure all the room are same or not. After claiming it, room keeping peron tried to eliminate them by spray. But still I found some insects every night and needed to eliminate by myself.
2.Internet: It was not stable at all. Very early morning (3 to 4AM), it became stable.
3.Outside restaurant & shop: There is no restaurant near by. Water and some drinks are available at food cart in front of hotel (not permanent shop).
4.Noise: The hotel itself is still underconstruction. Also another construction is going on next to hotel. For me, it was not so serious, but it might be a little bit noisy for nervous person.

Room Tip: 1.As I'm a smoker, I requested the room with balcony. But the balcony has 3 aircon outdoor units...

Dear Sir,

Thanks for you constructive feedback on Tripadvisor! This will help us a lot as we are constantly trying to improve our facilities and services to our guests.

We are glad you enjoyed the modern room, warmth of our staff, breakfast and location. These four points are key to our hotel and we know that we have a way to go with expanding our breakfast variety and ensuring our staffs communicate effectively and warmly.

We realize the insect problem has caused trouble to a few of our guests and since the first time we heard it, we have worked hard to contain this problem. This occurred because of gaps in our balcony doors and we hope you will not face this problem again the next time you stay at our hotel!

Regarding the Internet, we are finally restructuring our Internet infrastructure and in a few weeks, our Internet speed should be very high, comparable to other places in Yangon providing high-speed Internet. We do have a coffee shop now at our hotel and there is a variety of Western/Asian dishes available, along with a wide range of drinks. If you want to visit restaurants/shops nearby, our hotel staff should be able to direct you. They are within walking distance or a few minutes by taxi. Regarding the construction issue, it will be completed very soon and we are trying hard to make sure our construction causes minimal noise.

Thank you and we genuinely hope you choose to stay at our hotel again the next time you visit Yangon! We are confident that we will improve upon your mentioned weaknesses and build upon the strengths!

Hotel was good in terms of Burma standards.
It was a little noisy from the work on renovations going on.
The other downside is that the hallways are not carpeted so it echos down the hallways and you can clearly here noises in your room from the hallway.
Room was pleasant but for some reason the windows in our room had no blinds so it let in light from the hallways.
Overall clean a good stay but could do with some more improvements.

Room Tip: Do not get an internal room as they only have hallway facing windows.

Hello Sir,

Thank you for your feedback on Tripadvisor and we hope you enjoyed the stay at our hotel!

Regarding construction works, we are in the final stages of completion and we are trying our best to minimize the noise this causes. Because of your comments about hallway noise and those of our other guests, we have finished carpeting a few floors and are in progress with carpeting all floors.

We are looking into the situation of the room you stayed in about the blinds case.

We hope you enjoyed your stay at our hotel and we are confident to improve upon the mentioned weaknesses. We sincerely hope you choose to stay at Hotel Grand United again the next time you visit this fabulous city!

I stayed here for two nights in Oct 2013. The hotel is new and so was pretty clean and everything was working. The internet is intermittent but works reasonably well late at night ( i guess when there are fewer people accessing the internet). Gym is very new and has nice equipment. Breakfast is a bit of a strange mix of food. Service was pretty good and staff were helpful.

Location is a bit off though, there isn't much around the hotel for a foreigner. Taxi to downtown takes about 15-30 min depending on traffic and costs between US$1.5-$2. Taxi drivers usually have no idea where it is. All in all, a reasonable hotel for the price you pay in this city.

Room Tip: Get one with a view!

Dear rand0mly,

Thanks for your feedback on Tripadvisor and we are glad you found our hotel satisfactory, but we will aim to be even better in your next visit to Yangon.

We are happy that you enjoyed our fitness center and the service our staffs provided.

Regarding the Internet, we are in the process of installing a new Internet infrastructure and this should make our Internet high-speed at all times and this should be comparable to other high-speed Internet places in Yangon. We are working continuously taking into account of all guests' feedback to expand upon our breakfast variety and enhance this quality.

Regarding the location, there are a number of restaurants, bars and shops nearby which our staffs can direct you to. To downtown, it should usually take no more than 10-15 minutes and our staffs should be able to find you a taxi that will take you to your destination promptly and cheaply. The promising thing about our location is that it is possible to get to a number of places without much traffic.

We highly appreciate the feedback you provided us and genuinely hope that you stay at our hotel again the next time you visit Yangon!
