I originally booked in the Chinatown branch, but since it was full I got offered a much better room in the Ahlone branch at no extra cost. I originally thought that Chinatown would be fun, but after taking 10 minutes in a taxi just to get to the end of the street I decided against it. Ahlone is a much more quiet area. The disadvantage is that you have to go everywhere by taxi. But since taxis are cheap and plenty, that's not much of a problem. Oh, and you can catch a train at the nearby station (Shan road station on the Yangon circular).

I got a junior suite. At first on the side with construction work, which caused some noise. After asking I quickly got a similar room on the other side, also with a view of the Shwedagon pagode. The room has plenty of space, chairs in front of the window with Shwedagon view, aircon, fridge (which was very silent), etc. Water heater and Nescafe provided every day. Also a balcony with chairs (although it's usually too hot to sit there comfortably).

One nice twist that you can brag about: the bathroom has a big window with a curtain. Open the curtain after sitting in the bath and you can enjoy the view while soaking!

The hotel isn't completely finished yet, but I only heard a bit of construction work going on at very reasonable hours. The construction next door is likely to be a bigger problem and will be there for a while (they were only working on the foundations now). Avoid that side if you can.

Only negative thing to mention is that a beer in the Cafe costs $5, which is the highest I have seen in Myanmar. It's strange, since the food is priced reasonably. Better visit the supermarket close by (from the hotel exit go left, over the train bridge, follow the road until you see the shop on the left side).

Breakfast was good, although the choice for European tastes is a bit small. If you like Asian food you're going to enjoy it. They have TV screens there to provide (soundless) entertainment.

A positive thing to mention is that the staff was extremely helpful. And opening the door with a smile every time. They struggled a bit with English, but once in a while a young man was there who spoke excellent English.

Room Tip: Away from the construction site next door. Higher rooms have a better view. Rooms at the front hav...

Thank you very much for your positive feedback on Tripadvisor!

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay in our Ahlone Branch, which is located in a serene neighborhood, and easily accessible to our city centre. Effective mid-December, we are providing free shuttle service to Shwedagon Pagoda, Bogyoke Market and Chinatown every day at different times. It is also available to specific places in the city centre, subject to availability.

I am happy that you were moved to a more suitable and convenient room efficiently. Our guests also enjoy the fascinating view of Shwedagon Pagoda from the bath tub, which is a nice treat! I will be sure to pass on the issue regarding our menu prices in the coffee shop and the variety of European choices to our food and beverages department.

Finally, I am proud that you enjoyed the warmth and services our staffs offered. We are continuously working hard to ensure that our team provides top-notch service.

Once again, thank you for your feedback on Tripadvisor and we look forward to welcoming you again the next time you visit this fabulous city!

I've been there during my last business trip in Myanmar,i stayed there 10 days.
Room are clean and spacious and internet works good (very rare in Yangon!!!),room price it's very low compare to the Yangon's average.
It's a new Hotel so some taxi driver doesn't know the location, just tell them in front of Children Hospital and they will understand.

Great location in quiet area of embassies, close to fine restaurants (10 minutes walk), close enough to the city center and pagoda (20-30 minute walk) also provides a free shuttle service to the major attractions. The hotel is brand new (few floors still under construction), clean, good breakfast, free internet in your room, fitness center and sauna, staff helpful and friendly.

The choice of hotels in Yangon is either outragously priced, or shaby properties masquerading as meeting western standards. Hotel Grand United has large, decent, clean rooms in a good location at rates well below the new rip off levels for western standard hotels. The bonus was one of the front staff named Tom, who grew up in Singapore. He speaks excellent English and can help with any question or arrangement. The value of this is not to be underestimated. I had a great room with a direct view of the Shwedagan Pagoda and its half a block to one of the Yangon circular railway stations; a must do attraction.

Room Tip: Do not get an interior room. I didn't stay in one, but they look like prison cells. Get a room f...

Thank you very much for your feedback on Tripadvisor!

We are very pleased that you had a great experience at our hotel, including the status of our rooms, location and value for money. We are also happy that you enjoyed the external views of our hotel, along with the accessibility to the Yangon Circular Railway Station, which many of our guests enjoy to take as this gives a short, unbelievable perspective of Yangon. Our sales team works hard to ensure our hotel's rates are competitive and meets the services and facilities that our hotel offers.

I will be sure to pass on your positive compliments to my team, including Tom. Thank you again for your feedback and we sincerely hope to welcome you again the next time you visit Yangon!

A hotel which fulfils your basic needs ie clean room and a bathroom and reminds you of your college dorm with add ons such as TV, an electric kettle, hot showers and a gym.

The hotel is barely a 5 months old, therefore the staff is slightly inexperienced, but are courteous, polite and trying hard to do their job whilst learning on the job. A little patience goes a long way in ensuring a positive experience.

It's a hotel which is just at the "fringe" of the city center, therefore quiet but convenience. It is also nice that when you walk out, you immediately experience local Yongon. Exiting the hotel and walking for 1km in any direction will take you to many restaurants .

Getting around is easy as there are taxis always waiting to take you, queuing up in front of the Women's hospital across the road for USD1.50 to USD2 to anywhere within the city center. To get to the hotel, say "Jimakana" which means Woman's hospital, to the taxi driver and you should always arrive at the right hotel.

Room Tip: There are rooms without a window which they call wthout a view. If you get claustrophobic, make sure...

Thank you very much for your feedback on Tripadvisor!

Our hotel started opening in early September, so during your stay, we were barely a month old. Since our opening, we have tried hard to improve our services and facilities, including the warmth and communication abilities of our staffs. We guarantee that the next time you visit Yangon, you will find relatively better services from our hotel staffs.

Regarding our hotel's location, it is indeed located in a quiet neighborhood, but is easily accessible to the city centre. Effective mid-December, we provide free shuttles every day to Chinatown, Shwedagon Pagoda and Bogyoke Market. Shuttles are also available to specific places in the city centre, subject to availability. This program has been implemented and been widely used by our guests.

We genuinely hope that you choose to stay at our hotel again the next time you visit this beautiful city and again, thank you for your feedback!
