“A nicely located hotel with excellent staff”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

Booked a standard room with attached bathroom for one night. Small but very clean room.
Located in downtown Yangon on a narrow street and the exterior of the hotel do not impress but once you're inside, you're greeted by their warm and friendly staff. Within walking distance to famous Bogyoke market, railway station and other major attractions in downtown Yangon. Set breakfast was superb. Wifi not available in my room at the back of the buliding on the 1st floor but reception pretty strong in the lobby, restaurant and guest rest area with sofa set and books at the front on 1st floor. After checking out, while waiting for our train to Mandalay at 5.00pm, they let us used the public bathroom facility and guest rest area for free. My advise to travellers who wish to go to Mandalay, please don't take the train because the journey that took 15 long hours was extremely bumpy and very uncomfortable. We bought sleeper class 2 person cabin. Better to take the express bus which are very comfortable which we did on our way back to Yangon from Bagan.

Found this hotel to be excellently located just a stones throw away from the train station. Also easy walking distance to main attractions.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good, but I didn't try any of the other meals. Rooms were clean and well appointed for the price. People have to remember that the standard of hotels and the price you pay, are very different in Myanmar than in other parts of Asia. Bare that in mind, and you will have a great stay

Lots of bad reviews here. I understand why but I don't agree.

A lot of people will arrive in Yangon from Bangkok or the islands to find that they are paying 3 or 4 times as much for a room nowhere near the standard they've just left in Thailand.

If you know what you are getting then this place is good.

Positives: free breakfast, wifi, great location, all the taxi drivers know it.

You can find negatives in other reviews but I would say; yes rooms are small but most are in this $30-50 price range in Yangon which is a city that has clearly outgrown itself.

You will find that Yangon is the exception in Burma and that further north your money will get you more remember though accommodation is comparatively expensive all throughout Burma.

Book this place knowing that it's similar to the place you will find anyway after 2 hours trecking around the city looking at other rooms.

Personally, after 10 days coming down the country Yangon was dirty, choked with traffic and pollution and appeared visibly impoverished. That's not something to post negatively about though as I was there to experience the city which has it's own (harder to find than most) charm.

Recommend the 3 hour circle train ride, tea on the street, banter at the market, controversially we gave the pagoda a miss as there was a big entrance fee that inevitably went to the government and time was scarce for us.

Tip; taxis are cheap. Use them. Hotel can arrange one to airport for $8.

Thanks to all at beautyland

After reading the reviews of this hotel we weren't expecting much and they did not disappoint. We paid $45 for a very outdated room without a window. Due to the lack of window or any proper ventilation, the room was quite moldy and had a weird smell. For some reason the beds were covered in plastic making the sheets slip and slide around when you laid on the bed - very odd and uncomfortable. The breakfast itself was quite nice and there was plenty of food however we found the wait staff to be quite disinterested - it seemed like we were an inconvenience to them every time we went into the eating area. Additionally, the internet was painfully slow - seriously - the internet was better at Shwedagon Pagoda than in the hotel!

That being said, most of the staff were quite friendly and helpful (except for the restaurant staff) and the hotel is in an excellent location. We looked around town for other options in the same price range and didn't find anything that looked better.

The Beautyland 2 is an average hotel. Most rooms don't have windows and due to the frequent power blackouts in Yangon, fans and A/C stop once in a while. There is a backup generator in the hotel, but -at least the one night we stayed here- it took quite a while to get it up and running.
Room was clean, beds rather tiny for European standards, bathroom okay.
Friendly, helpful, English speaking staff at the reception. Biggest plus is the central location of the hotel which makes it easy to explore the city on foot.

This was the perfect budget place in Yangon. You could not ask for a better location, the rooms are clean and relatively comfortable, and the staff was helpful and full of great recommendations. Internet is painfully slow as in many places in Myanmar, but it's a short walk to the Trader hotel lobby where you can get a coffee and fast internet a few hours if you're willing to pay first world prices for the coffee.

It's always a little hard to compare hotel experiences in Myanmar to anywhere else, because due to government fees they are outrageously expensive for what you get, especially compared to the affordability of basically everything else in the country. However, beautyland ii, with these standards in mind, was near perfect.

Extremely helpful and welcoming staff. Our room did not have a window but had ventilation and A/C. The rooms with windows are at the front and back of the building and I think the front ones would be quite noisy so a room without a window is a good choice. Our room was very clean and the bathroom had hot water.

The location is excellent being a short walk to Sula Paya, shops and restaurants. There are money changers nearby giving good rates. Also, the railway booking office is at the end of the street and the railway station is very close. We took a train to Bago from here which saved taking a long taxi ride to the bus station (the trains are rough but OK for a few hours).

Breakfast of eggs, toast, fruit and coffee/tea was good.

My only negative comment I have is that the mattresses in our room were extremely hard and had plastic covers on them which was quite unpleasant.

The rooms here are $45 a night which seems very expensive, even for Yangon. I think there may be cheaper options in the surrounding streets.

Stayed a second time and had a superior room which had a window and no plastic mattress covers.

Room Tip: The rooms without windows are quiet.
