“Excellent hotel”
Reviewed 23 January 2014 via mobile

Stayed in a few hotels in Yangon and the millennium is by and large best value, clean, great rooftop bar and cafe with very good rooms. The hotel has helpful staff. Of note, you can walk to the strand hotel, monsoon bar, 52nd street bar and also through great authentic parts of old Rangoon. You don't step out into down town and chaos like other hotels in near the market. Also of note the food in the rooftop bar is v good as is the breakfast. There as been an argument that you can't expect much in Yangon unless you spend 300 usd. This was the case in 2011. This hotel is 3 months old and part of the emerging new hotels where you can expect more and get it. Older hotels for the same money in Yangon are simply awful and in time will be uncompetitive.

The uk and Australian embassy is a 10 min walk.

The hotel is the bottom of 54st near the waterfront. A trip anywhere is 2-3 dollars or 2000 - 3000 local money in a taxi. If you want ex pat transplant go to golden towers area ... If you want the real Yangon go here.

I recommend highly as it is value

One of the good choices for a hotel in Yangoon.
The hotel has been recently opened (November 2013) and is therefore compared to Myanmar standards quite neat. The view from the breakfast room (top floor) over town is excellent.
The rooms are clean, but certainly not luxurious. There is a good shower, mini-bar, satellite TV with BBC and some other international channels.
Although the hotel is not in the centre centre, a taxi to the center is easy to take (cost: approximately 1500). There is an evening market nearby (other side of the road) with a pagoda that is somewhat interesting too.
What makes this hotel mainly a good choice is the excellent staff that are very helpful.

Room Tip: It can be noisy in the late evening in this area. Pick the rooms with a view on the right side of th...

This is a new hotel (opened November 2013) with modern fittings and things like good beds, attractive furniture, flat-new screen TV (including English-language channels), free wifi, and very clean. All the staff are extremely helpful and polite. Most of them speak some English, and some of them speak excellent English. Wide range of choices for breakfast (incl. eggs cooked to your own specification - coffee is Nescafe but their finest brands and with real milk). Excellent view over the river from the rooftop restaurant (where breakfast is served). The restaurant itself has a limited choice of dishes in the evening, but tasty enough and not at all expensive. The hotel is not right in the centre of town, but still within walking distance, if you don't want to take a taxi or rickshaw.
Nevertheless, we had one or two problems. The internet connection in our room on the 6th floor was unstable. It worked sometimes, but not all of the time. However, This is probably not entirely the hotel's fault, as we heard from several sources that the state of the internet in Myanmar is still not up to scratch. Our biggest problem was that there was a slight smell of naphthalene (Moth balls) in our room. I mentioned this to the manager when we checked out: he seemed surprised, and promised to fix it immediately. And, judging from our experience of the staff here, and their obvious wish to do their very best to please their guests,we feel sure this problem will be fixed in no time.
This is not a 5-star hotel, but a clean, modern and pleasant 3-star, which we can heartily recommend.
