“Reasonable hotel in a central location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

Yangon hotels are horribly over-priced for what you get, which makes them rather difficult to rate.

The Panorama is in a central location (albeit one overlooking 2 main roads) which makes it easy to get everywhere. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is OK. There is no pool and the rooms are pretty basic.

Its not somewhere you'd want to stay for a long time but fine for a stopover.

Decent place for a short stopover! The food is quite good and wholesome! Very reasonably priced. However, the surroundings are not exactly the best for a business traveler, owing to the congestion around!

Room Tip: If you are looking for a quick wholesome meal, at a good price, this is one of the places to reach!

As many people have already stated, Yangon hotels are grossly overpriced, due to supply and demand, as well as pure greed. Hotels like the Traders, nearby, are charging $300 a night, so value for money is non-existent in this city, when it comes to accommodation. The appeal of the Panorama is that it is a basic-mid range hotel, under $100, within a short walking distance of Scott Market and many other key sights, but taxis are cheap and plentiful.

The rooms are adequate, with intermittent wifi and computers for use in the lobby area. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Burma, as there was variety and quality. Also the Ruby Mart on the corner was an excellent supermarket, cafe, come department store that allowed us to stock up on provisions for our trip (most notably, umbrellas for the rainy season!).

Room Tip: Stat away from the rooms on the flyover, which is quite noisy most of the day and night.

Panorama is centrally located. The food is spicy & cheap. They cater to Asian guest. The rooms are a bit small but ok for businessman who want a bed. There are no short comings except that the business center needs an upgrade. Internet facility is in a a public area. Staff are warm & accommodating. very flexible on request.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are less noisy

Had stayed at this property in Yangon recently. This is a small hotel next to the flyover and if you are in the rooms facing the road on the lower floors, then the noise can affect your peace. The wi fi is good and free and the rooms are of decent size. The breakfast is adequate and the room rate is also in line with present market situation wherein the prices of room rates have skyrocketed in yangon. The staff is very courteous and the check in and check out was efficiently handled. They even arranged a taxi to the airport at a very reasonable amount. The food in the restaurant was good and the rates were reasonable.

I stayed at this hotel with a small tour groyp and I was honestly expecting an awful place, due to some reviews but, Im happy to say that the room was more than appropriate, plenty of hot water, working TV and no issues with noise, wifi even worked in the room. The breakfast was great with many tasty options. Also there is a convenience store in the corner and the catholic church is not too far.

We stayed our first night in Myanmar - and we really appreciated that the hotel made our rooms available from early morning (we checked in at about 8-9 am). Another positive was working (and free) wifi - in a country where western cellphones still don't work, this is the only way to get to communicate with the rest of the world from Myanmar.
Hotel itself is quite big, our group was dispersed throughout different floors and the general conclusion seemed to be that the higher the better - I myself was on 2nd floor with a horrific view to some sort of a yard - ended up not even opening the shades as a result thereof.
Otherwise, rooms were clean, A/C worked, drinking water provided and even refilled. Breakfast was nothing special - however there was some very nice fresh fruit.
Just to note that there is a very well stocked grocery store just around the corner from the hotel (right side when you leave) - this proved to be our popular source of Myanmar - the local beer of choice :)

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views of the city.
