We booked in here after we had problems with a flight and found ourselves in Yangon for an extra night.

Staff are lovely but the Hotel is a little tired. Seemed to cater for european package tourists.

Rooms were goos size, clean and airconditioning worked well.

We stayed here only because our preferred hotels were fully booked and it was abundantly clear when we checked in why they still had space.

The location of the hotel is very central but it sits right next to an underpass with a depressing view of the highway out of the windows.

The lobby and rooms are quite worn around the edges but are serviceable.

We didn't try breakfast as it seemed pretty clear from the rest of the hotel experience that meals would be average at best (we went out for a delicious and cheap tea house breakfast instead).

On the plus side the staff are pleasant and try to be as helpful as they can.

The cost for what you get is fairly outrageous but with a shortage of hotel space in Yangon you may not have much choice.

I wouldn't mind staying here again if needed but I would not seek it out.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor so you don't get traffic noise

I spent 2 nights at the Panorama in December 2013.

I found the hotel staff to be very nice.

The hotel was booked for us by a tour operator and we found that the room met our standards - clean bathroom, comfortable bed and air-conditioning. The hotel wi-fi is pretty good and can be used in the rooms as well. If this sounds like a strange comment, we have stayed in other hotels in Myanmar where wi-fi was only accessible from the lobby.

The breakfast was fine. Not fantastic but not terrible.

The location is very good and is within short walking distance to many eateries, shops, money exchanger and the Sakura building where there is a decent massage place called Genky.

We stayed there one nigt only. We arrived by plane from Bangkok at the evening. From in front windows it was not very agreeable view to some demolished buildings at the morning. But everything else was OK: good breakfast with relative big choice of food, trip around historical places of capital city and in the afternoon we continue our trip accros country to Bago and Taungoo. It was my first acquaintance with golden country - Myanmar. Not bad for begining.

An agent in Yangon booked this for us as the Green Hills where we stayed at the beginning of our trip was fully booked. The hotel itself is located very centrally and has the bonus of being next door to the ruby department store where you can buy some snacks etc. The rooms are pretty basic and in need of some renovation work but very clean. The staff were very efficient at reception whereas the restaurant staff didn't seem to know what they were doing and were'nt very friendly. Breakfast was one of the worst on our trip with a terrible breakfast buffet. We definitely wouldn't stay here again as it's overpriced for the service they're offering.

We were booked into here by our agent in Yangon. As we were booking just a week away from arriving and didn't have a Trader's budget, the choice I think was limited. From what I understand, the demand exceeds supply at the moment which is why hotel prices have gone up around 300% in the last few years. This place is listed in our (old - 2005) Lonely Planet at USD$22/30 ... we paid USD$105 each for 2 adjoining rooms. It suited the former price better! We were on about the 10th floor so peaceful sleep. Sheets were clean. The room was fine and clean - just as people have said, the whole place needs a thorough upgrade. Breakfast at first sight was very dodgy but if you are imaginative, it's not too bad. The dhal type curry was really nice and one of us had a soup which was good. On the first night, we decided to 'eat out' .. by turning left out of the hotel. We wandered around for a while and then settled on a small basic restaurant as there were a few locals in there. The food was actually quite nice so if you don't fancy the hotel food, I'd say this is an OK place to go. (Will review that soon). The roads around aren't the nicest (my daughter saw 2 rats in the gutters) ... but hey, Yangon is also needing an overhaul... We took up someone else's tip of stocking up on beers, etc from the supermarket just around the corner (right, out of the hotel). Thanks for the tip whoever you are!

I appreciate that Myanmar is short of hotels but, even so, I didn't think this place to be value for money even if you allow for price inflation.

Room was fine, even though we looked down on the elevated roadway which ran past the windows of the restaurant. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. The air-conditioning was adequate but the electrical sockets were still 16 Amp round-pinned ones that must have been there since the country was called Burma and the British were in charge. Fortunately, the hotel provided an adapter to allow electrical usage by more conventional plugs. Having said that, the quality (well lack of quality) of the wiring of all electrical leads, including the adapter, was unsafe. My lampshade was broken and the light bulb base had separated from the glass part.

The breakfast buffet was unappealing on our first morning and totally unappealing on our second morning. For us, the breakfast buffet had no redeeming features and comes 1 from the bottom of the 10 hotels that we stayed in. Having said that, the quality and price of the food on the normal menu was much very much better. We tried the menu on our second night and were pleasantly surprised. It was also most odd to be sitting in a restaurant where an elevated roadway runs level with the restaurant windows and where people peer in as the walk past.

Largely, the staff were friendly and helpful which just lifted my overall rating from 2 stars to 3.

Overall, we feel this hotel is a mid-class hotel for businessmen and had no appeal for my wife and myself. It is also in need of a thorough overhaul.

Room Tip: Try for a room that does not overlook the elevated roadway.
