Beautifully maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission-so many young men from Allied nations who gave their lives in Burma are remembered here. After you have walked around the individual graves,so well tendered by the Burmese gardeners,do have a read of the main memorial and, at the rear the memorial, to the Muslims and Hindus of the Indian Army who provided the majority of the land forces.
Whatever race or creed-let us honour their names

Attraction like no other in Myanmar. An important memorial to over 27,000 soldiers, from a less well-known but brutal campaign during WW2. There's over 6000 well tended graves of soldiers in their early 20's, with what regiment they were with. A monument at the back lists the name of those whose bodies were never found. Trips out from Yangon to Bago usually make a brief stop here. I visited in November & really wanted to lay poppies here - but there was just a postcard seller at the entrance. Someone needs to get more relevant things to sell at such a place.

The gentle rain fell like tears as I wandered through the pristine, beautifully landscaped and designed memorial with remembrances etched on each tombstone that made the individual come to life. Solemn, but dignified. Not to be missed.

This tranquil lawn cemetery houses thousands of deceased defence personnel. It is beautifully maintained with perfectly manicured gardens but the headstones are a sad reminder of young lives lost.
