“Great escape from the heat of Rangoon”
Review of Rangoon Tea House

Rangoon Tea House
Price range: £4 - £15
Cuisines: Burmese
Description: Rangoon Tea House is a modern recreation of an old, colonial-era restaurant set in the heart of Yangon. The cuisine is inspired from that of local tea shops, whose traditions stretch back to when Burma was a part of British India when Rangoon was the second largest migration port in the world. That translates to the menu where you can find Mohinga, biryani, and chocolate samosas!

I came here in the middle one steamy summer afternoon of Rangoon to try the Burmese tea lifestyle, and it was indeed a right decision. This was a right place for you to escape, chill, and relax from Rangoon's heat with a company of good food and tea.

I ordered their pork bun and it was great, the pork was properly marinated and nicely combined with hoisin sauce and fresh pickle. As for the tea? Can't say much as I'm not a tea person but it tasted good for that super hot day. Apparently, a local expat I bumped into there also suggested that this l the right place for you to do nice brunch with a bit of Rangoon local touch.

This place is a bit overrated, probably even more so. I guess it doesn't really target local crowd but genuinely focuses on foreigners. Food are so so but mind you, way too pricy. Decor seems okay but black and white movie on repeat is really distracting and disturbing. Staffs are friendly. Drinks are fair. Not recommend for local though (except for those who can spend thrift). But sure I can say it's a very nice way to gain profit from those non-local fellas.

A friend and I were traveling through Yangon and only stopped in for coffee, but everything about RTH was beautiful. Great vibe, great people, great service. Would definitely go back.

Brought here by an expat local and has quickly become one of his favorite places. I can see why. Vibe is western but with a unique Burma fusion. Interesting and yummy dishes, coconut juices, lots of variety and options. Everything was plated nicely, and menu is creative. The design and brand is very thought out, and another rare find in a lack of options around Yangon that appeals to Westerners.

Clean, air conditioned, cool vibe. I'm sure this will continue to be a go-to place even as Yangon gets more developed and there are more options.

Me and my colleague went there for dinner. Is located in 2nd floor. The food is okay and acceptable. Staff is friendly and they speaks english too. Toilet is clean. Just the place is abit too dark for a dinner and they have a very dim yellow lightbulb. Do try their tea also.
