Highly recommend as a must do sight in Tbilisi. It is a church highly appreciated by locals and it is HUGE and spectacular modern architecture, plus wonderful viewpoint on the city.

The biggest and the newest Cathedarl in Tbilisi.. We had to climb the hill from Avalabari metro station to reach the site,. But the effort was greatly paid. This is one of the most magnificent cathedral I have ever seen.

Unforgettable experience.

It's a masterpiece. A must-visit while in Tbilisi. Though the police should do something about the beggars roaming around entrance cause they are really pushy. When entered, go to the left and see another small church with a beautiful row of bells and a giant bell just above them. Inside the church, you can not use your cam corder, but taking photos is not forbidden.

It's a new church, yes, but dont let that put you off ; this is well worth seeing. Has to be possibly the biggest orthodox church I have seen. The building is very impressive and actually a refreshing change inside as unlike many of the older churches it is not currently covered in frescoes. Although I did hear they are planning some.
Some lovely icons and a wonderfully airy and grand but not overly fussy building. We were lucky enough to hear a small choir and some intonations of prayer which was very atmospheric. Make sure if you get a chance to head to the lower level which is a little quieter and has a great deal of marble, (apparently much of which has come from as far away as China). We visited at dusk and the light was wonderful as you left the cathedral to head back towards the gates. Just make sure no shorts, modest dress and ladies cover your heads!
