Green House Hostel
Reviewed 24 July 2014

I spent the first week of my trip in this hostel and then found myself going back there three times between trips to the coast and trips to the mountains.
It always felt like going home, so warm was the welcome and congenial the environment. Maia is an exceptional woman and runs the hostel as if it were her family, always ready to help and make your life easier; chatty when you feel like a chat, respectful of people's need for privacy when you keep to yourself. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her city and culture, warm and worldly. Last but not least, she speaks excellent English.
Tbilisi is a great place, but i think that my positive experience with this hostel contributed to make my stay unforgettable. I am already planning my next trip to Georgia! Previous reviewers have already pointed out how nice the hostel is and i can only reiterate what they said. Both private rooms and dorm are spacious, clean and comfortable, there are two terraces, one on each floor, where you can unwind with a beer or a glass of wine after walking about all day. You can cook in the kitchen, help yourself to tea and coffee, and even try the Georgian dishes that Maia generously shares..
The lounge area is homely and ideal when it's too hot to sit outside. Bathrooms are clean and the queues never too long. The location is perfect for those who do not want to be in a busy and noisy street. Green, quiet and just a short walk from Baratashvili Bridge.,Green House has all the advantages of a small, family-run hostel without any of the disadvantages. I loved my time there and i am confident you will too.

What can be said that hasn't be said? This has been the warmest experience I've ever had with any accommodation. Maia is the sweetest, most helpful host and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. Even though there was a double-booking she took care of booking both our next accommodation and extras outside of town when we wanted to see the countryside. Even though we stayed only two nights at her place, she kept on helping us for the whole duration of the trip! We came as tourists and left as friends.

Technically speaking the hostel is across the river, which is the only negative point to mention - there is large road after the bridge that is a bit tricky to cross to reach it. Otherwise our room was clean, beds were comfortable, the area was silent. There's a kitchen at your disposal and complimentary coffee and tea at any time. The house is beautifully decorated with colorful artworks.

The Greenhouse Hostel is a very special place. It is family run with a lot of warmth and a very helpful owner by the name of Maia. Maia will make you fell so welcome, that you will not want to leave.

This amazing friendly, lovely lady runs a very clean hostel, a great dorm room with a fabulous balcony and has lovely clean private rooms too.

The location of this hostel, I can say, is the best in Tbilisi, so peaceful and quiet, with a tranquil outdoor sitting area.

It is not in the city center where things are busy and noisy, but definately walking distance from there to the best hot spots in town.

I stayed there for close to three weeks in total, and I would definately want to return to stay there again.

Do not miss this hostel, and book ahead as it is a very popular place to stay.

Great, friendly hosts. The place is situated in a quiet alley, close to a local grocery shop. Very clean and quite well equipped. Close to the cathedral and the parliament. I really recommend it if someone wants to live in a more quiet place!

We had a great experience at this hostel. It is in a perfect location, close to everywhere you could need. The rooms are plenty big enough and with a communal lounge area and kitchen. We had a private room for the two of us. The bathroom area was clean at all times and even though it was shared we didn't find ourselves queuing for long. The owners of the hostel has so much history to share about their city and country and also try and advise the best possible ways to travel and visit places of interest. Maya is very friendly and extremely helpfull and will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable.

Our first night in Tbilisi could be wandering around the city looking for a place to stay if it wasn't for Maia. Maia gave us her own room as the hostel was overbooked during May holidays.
Maia is very friendly, helpful and caring.

The loction was just perfect for us. Located in the Old Town, the Green House Hostel give you opportunity to walking to major sights and come back any time of day and night.

Harri and I are very happy we stayed with Maia!

Room Tip: Make sure you book in advance during the season
